The entire Discworld fandom on the 25th of May.
Truth, Justice, Freedom, Reasonably Priced Love, and a Hard Boiled Egg

An oldie, but a favourite.
Happy Glorious 25th of May.

God this is really good thank you
You actually cannot skip to being good at a creative endeavour that you haven't put much practice into. You cannot trick your way out of the 'knows that your work is not what you want it to be but don't know how to improve it' stage by planning or reading or talking about it really really hard. At some point you just have to craft through it until your brain finds it's own unique way back to the 'everything I make slaps' stage and be prepared to start the cycle all over again. You just have to make that project you're excited about slightly less good than you want it to be. (Says this standing in a pool of blood and covered in blood and also coughing up a little blood)
happy Mother’s Day to these two queens
Happy May the Fourth! I added a second page to this comic from last year!

This is true btw
the podcast If Books Could Kill has a really great episode on the original book and its legacy! just a bunch of misogynist evangelical bullshit really
I want to clarify something kind of important because this kinda used to be my field. The concept that people express and feel love in different ways, and that this might lead to misunderstandings, IS something with scientific merit. The idea that there are just five and we know what they are is NOT. The idea that people have a primary love language is NOT.
In science, we have a saying. All models are wrong, but some are useful. That’s how I see the love languages framework. It is inherently flawed, but some of its concepts are useful. Communicate with your partner what makes you feel loved and understand what makes them feel loved. Understand how your partner shows love. There is immense value in that. But don’t over-index on which one of the five you are. That part doesn’t matter.
how it feels to write star trek fanfiction

devestating news for you
i don't care if it's nazis, mormons, or a bunch of misguided autistic people. if anyone ever tries to tell you your soul is from another planet and you're actually part of the class of impressive people that secretly did everything cool in the world but is now extinct and lives on through your broken genome, you RUN. YOU WILL RUN AWAY. YOU WILL SPRINT FULL SPEED AWAY FROM THAT.
grabs you by the shoulders listen. listen to my words. i understand the urge to make fanfiction about yourself and to find a reality in which you're super awesome and great and everyone who hates you is wrong and dumb. i get it. you're better than that. you can love yourself without putting other people down, dehumanizing and generalizing, and retaliating against your oppressors.
there's no NPCs. there's no aliens coming to save us. we're not the next step in human evolution. our hyperconnected nervous systems give us terrible sensory overwhelm more often than they make us geniuses. neurotypical people are sentient, conscious, aware people who are capable of understanding you. we're more the same than we are different. we're more the same than we are different. we're more the same than we are different.
Reblogging this with a soluble fiber-rich recipe (beans and root vegetables!!) that i really enjoyed (Milk Street ndambe). Also because Milk Street charges for membership to view its recipes. You could probably garnish it with kale chips for non soluble fiber as well. My boyfriend and I found that chicken bouillon and throwing on some sour cream at the end rounds it out, cuts the heat, and gives it a little body, but without those additions the OG recipe is vegan, so that's a bonus. It also makes *a lot* so it's great for large groups and potlucks.
Not to be tmi, but you will poop so easy and less messy once you get your body used to a proper large serving of vegetables every day. And I do mean every day. Find some type of thing you like or at least don't mind and eat a lot of it. Variety is good but even just eating one type of veg is better than nothing. Apples are great for getting things moving, and it works the same in apple sauce format if you prefer to slurp.
What I do for dinner most days is eat a large portion of veggies, I call it my veggie feast. Then after I've eaten a big portion of plants, I eat a portion of chicken or fish and then whatever else I want til I'm full. It keeps me knowing I'm getting the right nutrition in the right portions but not actually restricting my diet, because I do eat junk, it's just by the time I reach the unhealthy food portion of my meal I'm not super hungry
I don’t know what we did to deserve Mr. Rogers but I’m so glad we had him.
