Do we know how much money the hockey canada and usa hockey players that have a contract for the season with the organization make? And how much more do they make for making the olympic team and getting a medal?

âAccording to the people, U.S players split a pool of $1.045 million in the first year. The pool grows to $1.095 million in the second year and increases to $1.145 million in the final year of the contract, which runs through Aug. 31, 2025. The deal expires before the start of USA Hockey's residency program in which players spend months training together in advance of the 2026 Winter Games in Italy.â Players in college do NOT get a share of this. We do not know what they negotiated before Italy but itâs probably in this ballpark, especially if the national teams also had less training time due to PWHL commitments there likely wasnât a crazy raise
âIn 2017, players received a boost in their monthly pay - going from $1,000 to between $3,000-$4,000 - and a chance to earn around $71,000 annually. Those potential earnings increased up to $129,000 in Olympic years when combined with contributions from the U.S. Olympic Committee.â
There was also a thing this year if a donor giving 200k to all US Olympians for a retirement fund, not sure how that works exactly but allegedly something the USA players will get
In 2018, Players would have received Olympic medal bonuses of $20,000 for gold and $15,000 for silver from USA Hockey and $37,500 for gold, $22,500 for silver and $15,000 for bronze from the USIOC. That number is probs somewhat higher now but probs not a crazy raise. These numbers were factored in to the 129k from above
We havenât seen numbers for team Canada other than itâs more than the US makes, that they get a revenue cut from the rivalry series tickets in Canada (USA players donât for games stateside) and that they had at least a five player development pool for non roster players who could get access to this money, while team USA players had to be on the 23 player roster (This was likely big for several fringe national team players like Eldridge.) some more details of their now out of date but still semi recent agreement can be found here
