Well... We still have August through December.
robert waiting at the hospital while aaron's life hangs in the balance
Yep, I know what it is. Thanks to you, I know what it means. I've been thinking about what you said. About family. About how much sweat and toil they put into this.
Just to get it off my chest, and if you know me you know this is my least favourite subject, but I want to talk about the farm show and physical intimacy. I totally get just watching for the boys but if you watch the whole show, it's endemic. If you started the show today, would you even know Chas and Liam were engaged? Say what you will, but at least with the boys they're being shown to be together even if they're annoyed with each other (which, btw, has always been their thing. And also, I like them being together but at odds. It's my platonic ideal). Even the illicit sex or whatever the show has these days is barely scandalous, I think the last time the show was actually sexy was Ross and Manpreet? But him and Laurel was sort of pathetic. Cain and Moira are almost unwatchable. Dawn and Joe talk to each other from the opposite sides of Home Farm. Vinny and Lewis happened entirely off screen, Billy and Gabby are happening so fast it's barely believable, Jai and Kerry's affair was pure innuendo and nothing else, Mack patted Charity on the knee the other day..... I could go on and on. Dyu get what I'm saying?
when did emmerdale get so bloke-y
the lad humour, sexual harassment as a punch line, the obsession with masculinity, turf wars, the lack of romance, the boys will be boys attitude… the no homo
why would soaps viewers want that. when has that ever worked for them

they’ve turned six years of trauma in robert’s life in to something of a joke just to accommodate a character that is an inconsistent mess
Never a truer word said. Shout it from the rooftops.
It's the fact that something so significant and meaningful in Robert's life has been turned into a joke. Even leaving that joke character aside what they've done to Robert's character is really hard for me to get past.
i keep coming back to it. so many of us came back with the same passion that we had six years ago, if not more, and this is how they repay us. we came back for ROBERT. for his character, for his story and they chucked it all away.
Someone met Bradley R. today and apparently he said “there's funny scenes coming up with lewis, ross, kev & nicola
Yay 😝🙄
So this might be a controversial opinion, but I was never keen on how Robert and Aaron got back together. It felt like the writers had already decided they wanted them engaged at Corriedale and were just trying to add drama that would get them back together in time for that moment. Now it feels like they don’t really know what to do with them.
I would have much preferred them not to get back together and instead see Robert rebuilding his life and finding happiness outside of Aaron. I would have liked to see him have friendships, have a steady role on the farm, maybe explore a few business ventures — Emmerdale seems to have forgotten what a savvy businessman he was. I also would have liked to see Robert make the effort to rebuild his relationship with Seb, rather than seeing him stuck in the same cycle of moping, pining and/or scheming whenever he isn’t with Aaron.
I would have liked to see Aaron pining for Robert. Yes, we did see some of that during the affair era, but Robert wasn’t his authentic self during that time. Robert has never really had a healthy relationship as an out and proud bisexual man apart from Aaron, and I think he deserved the chance to see that other people could care about him, support him, and even love him outside of that relationship.
I think seeing Robert genuinely happy — whether that was through dating someone else or simply building a life for himself (without Aaron) — would have affected Aaron more than anything else. Aaron would have had to live with the fact that Robert listened to him when he told him to move on and that he didn’t want him, rather than Robert being ready and waiting for Aaron to take him back at a moment’s notice. Seeing Aaron wrestle with how he truly felt and fully accepting it would have been far more interesting.
I also really didn’t like the fact Aaron was so adamant that he didn’t want Robert anymore, giving him a list of reasons why he would never choose him over John. Then, as soon as it was revealed that John was a serial killer, it felt like Aaron was suddenly all over Robert again. It made it feel like he had settled for Robert, or that Robert was his second choice, rather than Aaron choosing him because he was the love of his life. I just think that was poorly handled.
Robert deserved to feel chosen. After everything they had been through, their reunion should have felt like Aaron making a clear decision that Robert was the person he wanted, rather than it feeling rushed by the circumstances around them.
Everything felt so rushed, especially for a fandom who waited 18 months to hear Aaron tell Robert “I love you” again. They waited nearly a year for them to get back together when 2017 happened, and there was so much excitement about Robert’s return after six years away. For a couple with such a dedicated fanbase, their reunion deserved much more care, time, and emotional build-up.
Sorry, but I just don’t think anything after September was handled well for Robron. This is all just my opinion.
(And don’t get me started on the Kev of it all.)

About time he gets screentime
The way they're portraying robert and aaron (no I'm not using ship name cause I don't ship them rn) is totally on par with mack and charity where they keep telling us how great of a love story they're but audience keeps asking how? Where? The only difference being mack and charity haven't got that long history. For some reason today was last straw I guess😔😔.
Their scenes piss me off more than robert's with splinter tbh. Where is the softness, the tenderness, the small joys, the kind eyes??? They are always fussy and miserable lately, like they can barely share the same room for more than five minutes. Anything one does pisses the other off, and they NEVER GET TO TALK ABOUT IT. And sure, this dynamic is fun in a while, i love bickering old marrieds, but there has to be some genuine love and affection to break the routine, and in 7 months there has barely been any.
This!
