And wait, WTF. Why are the princesses the targets of derision here? Prince Phillip was ready to marry Aurora after just running into her in the forest. And then he risked his life and fought a dragon. He didn’t even know her real name, he thought she was some random peasant from the woods and he was ready to walk away from his kingdom. Why isn’t he on trial here?

Prince Charming, same thing. He’d met Snow White before, but he didn’t know she was the maiden he was looking for. He literally heard about some dead girl in the woods and was like, “I must have her for my bride.” We’re going to blame that on Snow White? She was unconscious. And aside from singing one song about him, she was kind of wrapped up in her own thing with her dwarf friends.

Jasmine didn’t even want to get married at all for like 90% of the movie. Aladdin pursued her, going so far as to completely overhaul his image to impress her.

Cinderella didn’t ever say she wanted to get married, either. Her Prince dancd with her once, then tracked her down by her shoe size. Again, he was the one who wanted to get married. She kind of just went back to her regular life with a bittersweet memory.

WTF is up with blaming princesses for the princes’ bad judgment?

This week I colored my hair. Along with the fact that I love the color, I did it because it was outside my comfort zone. Attention and people thinking negatively of me are two things I’ve always been bothered by and this was my way of facing it head on. What I was not prepared for was the attention that it seemed to grab today. Walking out of work I started to feel uneasy as I got to my car, and lo and behold a car going by slows down and pulls up next to me as I’m trying to get into my suv. I saw the driver, a man probably in his 40s, try to say something. As I was uncomfortable, my plan was to ignore him and get into the car, until he backed up the car to see me better. I heard the second time he shouted out of the window, I like your hair. I politely smiled and thanked him and continued to try to retreat into my car when he started to ask if I’m a nurse or an aid ( I’m by the hospital wearing scrubs so he put two and two together). Fully creeped out I shook my head refusing to answer and got in preparing to make my getaway. Except he didn’t leave. He was fully blocking me from driving away. It forced me to look at him again as he made a “what” motion with his hands and continue trying to talk to me through my window. I shook my head again and he flipped me off and sped away. Suddenly my hair didn’t feel freeing, it felt like I was a painted target. I’ve dealt with people like him before, and I’m still healing from a time when someone refused to leave me alone. I beg whoever reads this, respect people’s boundaries and never corner someone into talking, no matter what gender you are. I want to remind people like that guy I encountered, that you are not owed politeness by someone on the street who is just trying to get home after a long day of work. I don’t owe you shit. Not conversation, not explanation, not even a polite answer.
