I used to like Moon as a character at the beginning of the show. He wasn’t a good person but as a character he was really interesting, and I liked seeing him and Sun share the occasional brotherly moment together. The moment where they sit down in the ball pit and Moon tells Sun he’s a great guy and to be himself during the early episode where Sun wants to ask out Roxy is still one of my favourite moments in the show.
Now? I hate him. I can’t stand him.
It feels like Moon hasn’t really changed at all. He still feels like the same exact character we were introduced to 4 years ago, resulting in him being too unlikeable for me to care about him. Everything that the show has done with Moon since his big argument with Sun last year has felt more like the show has been throwing things at Moon in an attempt to make him look good/viewers feel sorry for him, rather than it feeling like a natural progression of his character. He keeps claiming to be better, but then turns around and does something awful or hypocritical (e.g. saying that locking someone away in a room is inhumane when he has done it multiple times, including just last year).
The emotions thing? Feels like it never happened. Moon still acts the same. I don’t see much of a difference.
The Overseer’s kid? Zero buildup, it just came out of absolute nowhere, Moon never said anything about being interested in being a parent one day, it’s completely out-of-character for him, (why would he care for a kid he never met before? He doesn’t seem to really care about Jack and Dazzle that much, he literally taught the latter how to pick locks), has shown time and time again that he shouldn’t be allowed near children, he and the kid have not been shown bonding, and the kid has barely been used, or seen.
Even the memory issues feel like something that the show has just shoved onto Moon to make viewers feel bad about him. But the show has made Moon so unlikeable now that I just can’t bring myself to care even the tiniest bit. And the show kinda forgot about it for like a month.
Moon could die tomorrow and I wouldn’t care. I’m legitimately at a point where I’d rather have Moon die and stay permanently dead than continue watching him be a horrible person while claiming that he’s the good guy. Any and all potential that could’ve come from Moon putting in a whole lot of work and effort into being a better person for his family, friends, and himself feels wasted.
