iwtv continues to be so smart in its portrayal of memories and trauma, the way lestatās memories of his family are so obnoxiously loud, everyoneās screaming all the time for no reason and everyoneās acting like caricatures, like an actual assault on the senses, as if lestatās mind is filled with unbearable noise every time he thinks about them. lestatās memories coming at him all fragmented and loud and violent, attacking him and beating him into submission as he desperately tries to escape them is such an interesting contrast to how louis would carefully weave a thread of his past pretending the glaring holes in it werenāt there
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE Season 1, Episode 4 | Season 3, Episode 5
This is a century-long lie. You hung her portrait over our coffins in New Orleans. It's sick. You're sick.
We're unnatural beings! And this-- this is the half-human soul that you conveniently whip out whenever you want to win an argument!
What argument you got for fucking your mother? It's sickness. Maybe the source of all your sickness. But my god! Seek a professional!

Interview with the Vampire // Richard Siken: The Long and Short of it
this is how the show went right
This show had ZERO fucking oversight itās actually good
Theyāre all nonbinary
Thereās an entire section of just among us VR
The animation for the imposter is noticeably better than the rest of the show
Thereās a 12 Angry Men bit
Most of the crewmates hate capitalism
Thereās completely unnecessary amounts of blood and sorta brutal deaths
The characters cuss and occasionally flip each other off
Absolutely dumb visual gags
Thereās an entire half an episode where they get high on oxygen deprivation and hamster pile naked
During that same bit one of the crew mates is just played by a guy in an inflatable costume in front of a green screen
And all of it is just played completely fucking straight
The thing about the Drama that I have a hard time coming to terms with is the reason why Emma didn't go and commit the shooting. Everyone goes with the most uncharitable interpretation of those events; as if she didn't do it because she would no longer be "the first" one to do it in her town.
The movie shows how the shooting impacted the students at Emma's school, and Emma had to sit and take in all the reactions of those around her. The pain it caused others, how shameful it is to do such a thing, the weight of real life taken. Her not going through with it read to me less as a disappointment, and more as a wake-up call.
Before the shooting happened, her view of such events was glamorized play pretend. She was trying to make a "cool" sounding manifesto putting on silly makeup and clothes. After it happened, she was face-to-face with the real consequences that would have on the people around her, and she chose not to go through with her plan.
Charlie's interpretation of this event was the MOST uncharitable possible interpretation of how things went down and idk why his viewpoint is the one taken in this scenario.
project hail mary is like i'll make you believe that friendship will save the world. i'll make you remember that our society rests on the backs of teachers and scientists. i'll make you see that even the most cowardly can be brave. i'll make you horny for sandra huller. thank you greatest scifi film of the last 10 years
this is how the movie went, right?
I love that the reveal that Sophie is the Lady in Silver who Benedict was obsessed with earlier in the season is almost just so unimportant to their love story. He does feel bad for not recognizing her and it hurts that she never told him, but it didnāt change how he felt about Sophie. He was already head over heels in love with her before finding that out.
Usually in Cinderella stories, the reveal is what makes the man fully fall for the girl. He is in love with this idea/fantasy of a strange woman he met and he is so hell bent on finding the woman who fits into the shoe more than learning anything about the actual woman. In modern retellings he typically learns more about her as a person but ultimately the metaphorical shoe needs to fit to fall in love and it needs to be revealed that she is the stranger he had a magical moment with.
But they follow a different formula in Bridgerton. He already gave up on finding the Lady in Silver and fell in love with Sophie. He was ready to marry her and give up his family and status for her. Finding out she was the masked woman he met and was enamored with just adds another layer to their connection that was already strong in the first place.
