I got in!
Well, not into the veterinary programme, but I DID get into the nurse one, sooo yeah. Iāll be back at university in two weeks from now, and Iāll be a nurse except for animals, not people. Itās apparently called a āBachelorās Degree in Veterinary Nursingā.
WHOOP!
I totes did it!
I survived!
I successfully attended, completed and survived the 2017 European Kyudo Seminar in Telford, UK!
Woho!
IT. WAS. AMAZING. Three intense days of training under the supervision of 8th dan masters from Japan. They were ridiculously good (surprise, surprise)... But also very helpful and quite funny. I really do feel that I improved.
Also survived the examination so yay, Iāve now got the rank of shodan, 1st dan. Go me!
Woho.
I finished my courses with better-than-expected grades in all four, and Iāve sent in my application so now all I can do is wait until the preliminary results in mid-July.
Until then: work and KYUDO. Kyudo might be the best thing ever.
Woho! Chemistry started the other day! I havenāt fallen behind yet!
Itās mostly really basic stuff that I still remember from school back in the days *old and wise* LikeĀ āeverything is built with atoms!ā andĀ āwater and ice are the same substance!ā sooo no problems yet.
Gonna sit down and read about āChemical Reactionsā today. Very thrilled.
ALSO. I wrote a story. Which in itself isnāt that weird, BUT the strange things are that 1) I finished it 2) in literally five days even though 3) itās over 50 000 words. For me, thatās unprecedented.Ā Itās the first thing I can remember writing where I simply did not want to stop even once. I had to force myself to go to bed, and when I woke up again I went straight back to writing.
It felt amazing.
The storyās about four kids who encounter a ghost and start looking into the history of the local library. I found some old kid books at home, a series by Allan Frewin Jones, and re-read them and got super inspired and sat down and wrote this thing xD Itās a nice series, by the way, though obviously not as scary now as when I was... like... eight.
Anyway, I had soooooo much fun!
Just saying. These days itās really rare for me to get into a creative project like I did with this story, so Iām extremely happy about it... And Iām working on a second one. Oh yes. Thisāll be a series. Theyāre short, fun and easy to write, and thereās no end to the supply of applicable ghost stories ^^ Plus Iām really looking forward to writing the kids as they grow older. Theyāve got interesting dynamics.
So yeah.

Been reading sliiightly too much Lovecraft lately... But hey, itās great inspiration for drawing! Even if all I draw is tentacled monsters.

Iām gonna read Chemistry and Physics this fall/winter (the joy), and if I manage to finish on time Iām gonna apply to the vet programme next spring. I wanted to be a vet when I was younger and it seems the idea is back. Yeap.

Itās taken a long time to figure ut what the hell I want to do, especially after I crashed and burned last time I tried, but this feels right. It does. I mentioned it to a colleague the other day and she said Iād be perfect for it ^^ Iāve worked at the nursing home long enough to know that Iāve got the temperament for healthcare, but I donāt want to be around sick people permanently. In other words: kittens and puppies!
My chief concern is that I might not manage to get in. Itās supposedly super difficult. But hey, all I can do is try.

Black Sails is an amazing show.
So good.
Thereās an obvious lack of black sails, though xDĀ
Ā Itās got GoT level intrigues, but between characters rather than nations = they can keep the story in a relatively small area, and the characters have to be really well written. And they are. Soooo good. I love it. Itās rare to find a show with so many likeable characters. Okay, some of them are likeable in the way that you hate them but still care about what happens to them. Some you just love and cheer for every chance you get. There are all sorts.
I watched all three seasons in roughly as many days with a friend, and now all my dreams are pirate-related.

My creativity works in strange ways these days. Either I sit around for hours and draw stick figures at best, or I go crazy and start spitting out complete pictures, one after the other, until I have to force myself to stop and go to bed.
Hmm.
The other day was like that. My flatmate specifically told me that heād do all the cleaning just to give me time to sit down and draw. Feeling guilty, I sat down with my drawing pad and just stared at it for a while, before I forced myself to start sketching just so Iād at least try to make use of the time Iād been given. A couple of hours later Iād produced linearts for eight character bookmarks, which I then spent eight hours straight colouring yesterday.
On some days, though, I sketch an eye or a foot and then I just feel like tearing everything Iāve ever drawn into tiny, tiny bits and feed them to... something that eats paper.
Iām gonna try to draw again today, because at least right now it feels like the more I do, the more I remember how fun it used to be.
RIP, Mr David Bowie.
I felt had to somehow do something when Bowie passed away earlier this year, so I drew this. Itās an A3 copy of the cover for Low, done with colour pencils, that now hangs on my wall.
Thereās probably nothing I can say that hasnāt already been said by people far more eloquent than me, so... Anyway, rest in peace, Mr Bowie. Your music will always live on.
