@ensigneckles
you gotta be able to say "die"
you gotta be able to say "suicide"
you gotta be able to talk about "sex"
they're uncomfortable topics, YEAH for SURE
because LIFE is uncomfortable. Death and suicide and sex and pain are straight up going to happen. not having words for the way it discomforts you doesn't make it more comfortable, it just makes you less able to reach out about it.
even more vital, you gotta be able to say words like "rape", "abuse", "queer" or "racist". cause we fought fucking hard to name those experiences. to identify "rape" as distinct from "sex" and "racism" as distinct from "acceptable behaviour" and "queer" as distinct from "invert"
like the function of communication is not to minimise immediate discomfort. we gotta be able to talk about stuff that's hard or sucks or causes difficult conversations.
This is what's so goddamn terrifying about the Internet slowly collapsing into the same 3-5 websites--if Facebook deprioritizes you for saying "sex" and TikTok shadowbans you for saying "suicide" and Twitter X locks your account for saying "racism" we've lost a lot more than just the culture of the old weird internet
which language mentioned in this post would you say "upsets others unnecessarily" when we're discussing experiences in our own lives?
"Death"? "Suicide"? "Rape"? "Racism"?
is it the language that upsets people in these cases, or the thing it describes?

I’ve officially forgiven Dublin Bus for all the times they were late or never showed up cos the pride Bus they done with proud dads was the most wholesome thing i’ve ever seen in my life & i still can’t watch it without tearing up omfg
i thought i could keep it together but i lost it at “let’s go to pride, son”
I too lost it at that part
Same here
Hey OP, change your name.
Since 2016 Making Queer History has worked to keep queer history accessible and put out regular articles exploring lesser-known figures. Through this, we have done big things like speaking at universities internationally, and small things like curating lists for individuals who are struggling to find their grip in the queer community. This year more than ever before, we have picked up books and done further deeper research, getting together an incredible expanse of stories to share in many different ways.
This Pride Month, as we share a fraction of our 200+ articles for free every day, we want to remind you that we are only able to do so because of your generous support.
Help continue Making Queer History, and for the first time get advanced access to who we are going to be writing about by clicking this link https://www.patreon.com/queerhistory

Tell me you were raised Catholic without telling me you were raised Catholic
Misha Collins the king that you are
I love when this man gets away from CE cons
streets are saying that Misha stood on a convention stage today and said "If the CW hadn’t been so homophobic, Dean and Cas would’ve been balls deep for sure.”
now I know Misha’s said many noteworthy and occasionally unhinged things on stages in his time and he phrased this in the most chaotic manner possible
but I'm just here to say that I think what's noteworthy here is him explicitly calling The CW — the network itself — the homophobic obstacle to destiel
it IS a Big Deal because overall the censorship really just isn’t talked about, as we all know
but finally, there it is
What is it about the air in Europe what makes Misha Collins act like that edition. Yes those are quotes of his.
[Image ID: The Destiel confession meme edited so that Cas asks 'I fucked you hard and raised you from perdition.' and Dean answers 'If the CW had not been so homophobic we would have been balls deep for sure'. /End ID]
Miss Congeniality (2000) Dir. Donald Petrie
“Many people seem to think it foolish, even superstitious, to believe that the world could still change for the better. And it is true that in winter it is sometimes so bitingly cold that one is tempted to say, ‘What do I care if there is a summer; its warmth is no help to me now.’ Yes, evil often seems to surpass good. But then, in spite of us, and without our permission, there comes at last an end to the bitter frosts. One morning the wind turns, and there is a thaw. And so I must still have hope.”
— Vincent Van Gogh
“If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now. For wheat is wheat, even if people think it is a grass in the beginning.”

Tumblr users the second we're left alone with a stupid button.
It took Oscar Wilde like 65K words to say this exact thing.
