A grieving Dean Winchester who, whenever he’s out and about he, buys anything he thinks Castiel would like. It doesn’t matter how much it is, if it reminds him of Cas he’s buying it and putting it in Castiel’s room. Cas’s room was empty, never decorated, nothing to show he was ever really there, so he wants it full when he gets Cas back. Because he will get Cas back.

a good soldier and nothing else.
we don't talk enough about how anna says in 4x20 that cas was dragged back like he fought heaven right then and there, and the complete wreakage that sam and dean came across where jimmy was, the remains of a battle, and i wished we'd seen the fight, how cas was already rebelling against the will of heaven even before the green room

remember when kevin’s first words to sam were, “please don’t kill me.”

DEAN TO CLAIRE: "Heey! Long time! Your, uh, Caddyshack review is way overdue. Yeah... you got it. We're there."
He looks so happy when she calls. He didn't hesitate to come though. The minute she thinks something is off, he's "We're there." Later, Jody says to Dean: "Oh, you gotta be kidding. You know, if you'd checked in with me, I could have saved you a trip."
Dean really just jumped when Claire said jump.

whooooooooo is doing it like her???
okay but in all seriousness, here's the thing I love about season 10 Rowena: she's trying so hard to manipulate everybody around her and stir up trouble in Hell so that she can place herself in a position to maximize her influence and authority.
however, she's incredibly bad at it.
she's clumsy and obvious and a wildly over the top actress when she's putting on a performance, so transparent that Guthrie and everybody else can see right through her because she always tips her hand just a little too early and gives away her endgame. she's not good at this... and that's something that makes perfect sense once you start to get bits and pieces of her backstory!
she wasn't a noblewoman during the times when that would have been relevant. she didn't grow up learning how to play the game of politics, she didn't learn how to manipulate people in a way that gets you what you want but also preserves political ties. she's a tradesman's daughter who just happened to be born with an extraordinary talent, and when she stumbled into the Grand Coven's underworld, she was at the bottom of the political pyramid there, too. nearly every witch we meet who has any kind of real power is so disdainful of her, she's never been able to successfully cultivate influence anywhere.
and this is why her performance is the way it is. this is why the ritzy hotels and upscale restaurants and glittering floor-length gowns for daywear. this is why she finds out her misbegotten child is the king of hell and immediately scrambles to try and milk the connection for any scrap of influence she can garner, and reacts with so much hostility to anyone she thinks might get in the way of that and ends up giving the game away every time because she gets scared and starts to rush ahead to try and preserve her position. it's all an attempt to put on a show, like if she plays the role long enough and hard enough, she'll actually become the mask she wears in reality and not have to try so hard for it anymore.
when I say Rowena is one of the best-developed female characters in modern television I am not fucking kidding
"We shall be known as.... the Mega Coven"
have I mentioned that Rowena is in fact the funniest bitch alive? I love that they just let her be sort of an awkward loser. like she's beautiful and graceful and wickedly talented and incredibly smart and funny.... and also she is just a huge fucking dweebus who definitely did not have anyone to sit with in the proverbial high school cafeteria and I love this for her.
no but actually. she is so fucking weird and none of the other witches like her and I love her so much for it. love when women are allowed to be weirdos regularly rolling nat 1s on their charisma
loving Dean was Cas’ free will and loving Cas was Dean’s faith
