his bedroom, her thoughts
hushed replies
peeking around corners
and pretending to fill water bottles
existential thoughts of the future
and how good they'll be,
~
she is addicted to the contrast
of the safety in his arms
and the fear of their exposure,
~
knowing they both want more
but having to maintain self restraint
if only she were that strong all of the time,
~
but that is where the true difference lies
in him she find a new kind of peace
he makes her stronger than she could have every thought to be possible
he has shown her that a man is capable of an honest love
and the mark he is leaving in her will forever be engrained
now we pray that time will not weather these
beautiful carvings
from her skin,
~
first loves are tricky
all of this sickly sweet safety
yet her worry grows
of his fading feelings,
~
he assures her they're concrete
but she knows she does not preform as much as she should,
~
"all bark, no bite"
that's her,
~
only time will tell
whether or not
she is brave enough
to push on.
