power is a curious thing, my lord…power resides where men believe it resides. It’s a trick, a shadow on the wall. and, a very small man can cast a very large shadow.

Winter has come
- Aoko Matsuda
How women are still watching and are fans of this, I can’t imagine. I was a fan, but all the male violence against women–especially the glorification of rape. Nah, I’m good.
*spoilers below*
I agree with few of these deaths, it’s a good thing to think about, but so many men were killed too AT THE SAME TIME!
Shae - Tywin was killed just few moments later. I do agree that Shae’s story was unfair to her.
Shireen - This I agree a bit too but Stannis (who isn’t even a POV character in books) does die soon after by the sword of a woman (Brienne) and it was essential in Brienne’s arc (who is a POV).
Cat - Doesn’t stay dead in books, Robb died in this same scene with tens of others. Cat was the actual POV character, death of Robb will be the motivation for her as LSH. This is so other way around!
Ygritte - Kind of agree with the point. But Jon’s and Ygrittes love was never going to be possible from the start, one had to die. How is the fact that in Dany’s story Drogo died? For Cat her husband Ned died? That for Loras Renly died?
Lyanna - It’s a backstory for a reason! And the same time Rhaegar and Aerys died and their deaths are essential to Dany’s backstory.
Sand Snakes etc - Agree, BUT they did the same to Doran! They messed up the entire Dorne plot in the show anyway.
Margaery - In a way agree, she was a great character and one of the more important characters to die in this scene, but in books, she wasn’t a POV, just as important characters like Loras, their father, Kevan and Lancel died at the same time in the show. As did Tommen right after. And it didn’t give any man a reason or was done by a man, it was all between women, killed by Cersei and it gives Olenna the motivation to join in supporting Dany, another woman!
It’s Game of Thrones, it’s about war and politics, people DIE. Both men and women, by the hands of men and women and cause pain and give a path to other women and men! And no, there’s no glorification of rape, descriptions of rape don’t mean any glorification - if anything it brings awareness to how (mostly) women suffer from rape and what that kind of masculine world does. What Sansa said to LF about her experience was very powerful to me and the acting was fantastic. I, as a rape survivor, a victim of abuse, haven’t found a story more empowering for women than Sansa’s in the show.
In the beginning of the show, the people in power were all men, Robert, Ned, Tywin etc, LF and Varys pulling strings. What is it now? In this season? It’s all women now, all important main characters! It’s their story now, the power play is between Sansa vs Dany vs Cersei. Jon doesn’t even hold a title and barely speaks sitting there when Sansa and Dany make plans and play power games. Cersei has a few male secondary characters as advisors. Arya and Brienne are the main warriors people hope to survive (there are Jaime, Hound and Tormund of course too), Brienne was just knighted, Arya was in full control how she chose to have her first sexual experience. HOW is this show (or book) anti-women? It did start out in a very misogynistic society but we are shown the suffering and consequences and we see that world and people change. GRRM is pretty much anti-war, a huge part of the books and show is to show people how pointless and destructive war and violence is and to deconstruct traditional fantasy and historical literature! Showing bad things =/= supporting bad things.

teamLab’s Massless at the Amos Rex by JKMM Architects
According to teamLab’s site:
The digital has liberated human expression from the physical. Expression no longer requires an irreversible bond to the material in order to exist, thus dissolving the notion of mass. Expression freed from physical constraints also makes our experience of artworks and space “Massless”.
As we immerse and meld ourselves into the work with others, we explore a continuity among people, as well as a new relationship that transcends the boundaries between people and the world.
According to JKMM Architects’ site:
Amos Rex, formerly known as Amos Anderson Art Museum brings contemporary architecture to the modernist Lasipalatsi. The connection between the past and the present creates an interesting starting point for the design of the new museum.
The new museum will gently take over Lasipalatsi. The main façade on Mannerheimintie street will retain its original look as the museum settles inside. The newest layer, designed by JKMM Architects, brings the venue to this century with a new building beneath the square that will house the exhibition spaces and workspaces.
