Yes, letâs indeed talk about Hentai. I did some quick research, and here are the results. Probably not the most complete post ever, but perhaps a good start.

First of all, Hentai in America and most western society, is commonly known as a subgenre of manga, but with overtly sexual themes. Mostly known for the extreme scenarios which would be impossible to do with real people, such as tentacle porn, demons, monsters and so on. Hentai can also depict ânormalâ sex, but is mostly famous for itâs depiction of the impossible, and extremely perverse.
A part of the reason why tentacle porn was created, was due to japanese censorship, which meant no penetration of the male organ, or any genitials at all. The tentacles became a pahllic symbol, and has since gained popularity, in many countries, and I assume people in japan er capable of watching porn from other countries through the internett, which means the initial idea should be obsolete. It isnt.Â
Hentai is japanese for âperversionâ/ âpervertâ /âabnormalityâ. It is the shortened form of the phrase (ć€æ
æ§æŹČ?, hentai seiyoku) which means âsexual perversionâ.Â
âHentai is a genre to itself. Yaoi, yuri, and ecchi are all different aspects of the wider erosgenreâŠ.
ero refer to any manga and anime with sexual content. Hentai only refers to sexual situations that are considered perverseâ
I have never spoken to guys who explicitely said they watched Hentai for pleasure, and I never watched much of it myself.Â
Most conversations I have had about the topic, is guys talking about âthe funny partâ of hentai that can seem a bit comical, either because it was meant to be, or because it is so extreme in itâs nature.
When I used to watch porn, I came across a few videos, and pretty much any video contained, what perhaps is the worst thing about hentai; rape.
it seems to be a pretty normal thing within the hentai genre, and pretty much every source I came across talks about rape, as a regular theme in hentai. There pretty much is no boundaries, because no real people are used (except voice actors). I think the reason the rape theme is so rampant, is because people are more likely to be repulsed by it, if it contains real people, but in Hentai they do not, and it seems less âexplicitâ when done with anime characters.
Not to mention that a lot the animated girls are often very young, and has very unrealistic bodies. Even more than in real life porn.
The appeal of hentai for men, I think is described pretty well by this gross disgusting piece of shit (pardon me my french):
âHentai has no limits. That is why it is so great. I have nothing against real pornography, I enjoy it also. But hentai is perfect. Normal pornography is not.â

because even though no real humans were harmed in the production of hentai, every other human are in real life. Itâs depiction of rape, misogyny, bdsm, monsters, pedophilia and the fact that the only limits are the misogynistic fantasies of the pornographers or censorship of particular countries, is absolutely a problem.Â
I absolutely think the popularity also contributes to the hypersexualisation of asian women. I also think that hentai opens up for more vile and extreme ideas when it comes to real-life porn.Â
âwhat about freedom of speech!? it doesnt hurt no-one!!â - well, this seems to be the argument, whenever the people who are hurt by it, are marginalized groups. In this case, women, particularly Asian women, homosexuals, intersex and transgendered people (a major theme in Hentai is also âhermaphroditismâ which usually means a person with breasts and a penis, or some sort of phallic), and children. As with other kinds of porn, it features damaging, illegal, offensive, oppressive  and unhealthy depictions of sexual acts. All these things is not suddenly a-okay, just because sex is involved. (And not because it is drawings either).Â
For the consumer, this kind of porn is extremely damaging in terms of developing sexuality, because it has literally nothing to do with reality, and even though you can differ between this and real sex, in the end, your brain just wants the impossible and extreme stuff.Â
