I know I don’t normally rant but just forgive me

Tw: ranting, animal death, loss of faith in humanity, mild hopelessness, birds.

I have a small coffee shop in my town. Not going to mention the name because I don’t want to dox myself. This coffee shop is small and has an outdoor eating area where they have three bird feeders and some water. The local sparrows love it and you can watch them jump around. It’s one of my favorite things.

today me and my sibling went after theater. There we found a small sparrow on the ground twitching and yet still breathing. We gave him a box and some tissues to lay on. And eventually he died with us watching. I don’t want to be graphic so I won’t get into the details but I can say that I still see it when I close my eyes. Death hasn’t bothered me before because when I see something dead it’s already gone, I feel sad but like I’ve never been scarred by it. However watching something die is so much worse.

we buried him respectfully. My sibling prayed for him. This has gotten me thinking about a lot though. Mostly those videos where people make fun of other people for getting emotional over dead animals. That is so fucking sickening to me. It’s so crazy how like so many people lack empathy. I wish I could’ve worded this better or whatever but yknow it’s a rant. I know I don’t usually rant but I just need to get this into the wild.
