NEW RULES
Each volume of the Odyssey Anthology introduces new rules for adventuring on the seas of Theros or other ancient Greek-themed settings, based on research into Ancient Greek maritime and religious history, including:
Rules for ancient Greek vessels, from pentekontors to triremes to trade ships, plus adaptations to the crew rules from Ghosts of Saltmarsh to instead be authentic Ancient Greek ship crews
Rules that expand the piety system for tracking the wrath of the gods, and unleashing that rage on your players - much like Odysseus’s harrowing voyage home from Troy, you can turn Thassa, God of the Sea, Athreos, God of Passage, and Keranos, God of Storms, on your players, lest they be appeased with an array of rules for ancient Greek religious rites!
Rules for new krakens, with tables to randomly roll attacks, abilities, and names, allowing you to quickly create a myriad of new dreaded sea monsters to lurk beneath the Theran seas!
New rules for many new creatures, from the NPCs involved in islands’ stories, to the monstrous creatures that characters will face on their adventures!
ENCOUNTERS
Beyond the adventures in each volume, you will find both:
Three tables of random encounters for the Theran oceans, ranging from low level encounters close to the mainland, for levels 1-5, to the monsters that hunt across the sea from their dens in the Dakra Isles, for levels 6-10, to the great beasts of the deep oceans towards the edge of the world, for levels 11-20.
A CR 30 Mythic encounter with the island-kraken Arixmethes, the largest creature on Theros, and favoured kraken of Thassa. This encounters will prove a unique challenge, for characters who stay on the kraken’s back can avoid its deadlies attacks, but must break through its nigh-impregnable shell to deal any damage to it - however, should it manage to shake them into the water, characters will face the full fury of Arixmethes’ claws and ship-swallowing maw!
