I don’t really know how fandom handles these things.

As far as I know, no one has ever plagiarized one of my stories before. I feel really lucky and grateful that if this was the first time, someone let me know. Hopefully that’s just what everyone does across all fandoms when we see that shit happen.

It’s not my intention to call anyone out or make a big deal about this, but taking ownership for something that isn’t yours is a problem, in my eyes.

I wrote a fic for the Olicity fandom in 2016 called Unsteady. Someone decided it was a good fit for the Game of Thrones fandom, I guess. They copy and pasted my fic, word for word, same title. All they did was change Oliver and Felicity’s names to Jon and Daenerys, and their daughter Lydia’s name to Lyanna. 

When someone let me know this was a thing, I commented on the fic and asked them to take it down. It was gone within five minutes, and this person doesn’t have any other works. My feelings are still kind of hurt because that fic was pretty personal, and maybe the most cruel one to steal from me. All the comments asking them where the inspiration came from and how beautiful and raw it was hurt my heart just a little. Deleting it doesn’t really mean problem solved, unfortunately. 

I doubt they would plagiarize one of my stories again, but I have no idea if they’ve done it before or would do it to someone else. I’m a bit like a confused old lady when it comes to AO3 and all the wonders it can do, so I’m not sure how or if it’s possible to report this person for this kind of thing. And like I said, the stolen fic was deleted before I’d even had time to write this post. I just want my followers and fellow fic writers to be aware! Please let writers know if you see their work being reposted in places it doesn’t belong :)

It sucks that this happened to you @smoaking-greenarrow. I don’t read much about other fandoms, but if I see someone plagiarizing the work of other writer, I I will warn the writer. I did it once, when someone plagiarized a scene of a olicity fic…in another olicity fic.  I think you can report the person in AO3, and they investigate and do something about it (not like tumblr ¬¬).  I will reblog this, because I think is important that other people in the fandom should know that if they see someone plagiarizing works, they should warn the writers.

Arrow 7x22 Brain Dump: Season Finale!

Well. That was an EPISODE! What an ending for a season, and for those opting out of S8, a series! And what a send-off for Felicity Megan Smoak. I think that even if EBR doesn’t choose to return at all for S8, that I can really be happy with the way they ended things for her, and for Olicity. Of course the goodbyes were devastating, and I’m still a complete destroyed mess 😭, but I love that it ended in a place ultimately of peace, of hope and of happiness (at last) for Felicity and for Oliver. As has become to be expected from me, this is hella long…

Season 7 plot wrap-up

I was worried that the plot holes this season with regards to the villain story would mean that it would be super drawn out and over-focused on in the finale, but I was presently surprised! They managed to wrap up the storyline somewhat satisfactorily, and, most importantly of all, concisely. Leaving more time for the FF and Olicity storylines to conclude. 

It opened right as we left off last week, with the team being apprehended on the SCPD rooftop. The SCPD still believe Team Arrow to have gone on a killing spree downstairs, and with their only witness, Sergeant Bingsley, out for the count, the team have no defence, so of course Oliver uses a trick arrow to divert attention so the team can escape. The shot of them all escaping off the rooftop was awesome!!

We’ll be reading these fics for two weeks, with the final rec list of “Season One” being posted on June 3rd.

If you have depression or anxiety? you’re not tired for no reason.

You’re tired because you have depression/anxiety.

Not only do they both come with low energy/fatigue as a legit common side effect, but they’re both fucking /exhausting/. fighting your brain all the time? exhausting. adrenaline crashes from anxiety/panic attacks? exhausting. being on edge all the time? exhausting. plus doing things costs /more/ energy when you have those mental illnesses.

You’re not tired for no reason, you’re tied because you have an illness that makes you tired.

Don’t let writing become a chore

Learn how to take planned breaks 

Plan reward when you reach your goals

If goals are time framed based, make sure they’re realistic.  Nothing is more discouraging then thinking you’re failing

Engage with other writers who are positive and excited about their work. 

Read books in your genre of passion. Remind yourself why you’re writing one!

Have more than one project to jump to if one starts to get stuck. 

Make writing time special, with snacks, music, candles - things you ONLY let yourself have during writing time. 

If your schedule allows, try writing at the same time every day. If its a habit, you won’t drag your feet as much. 

Talk to other writers! Tell them why you write! Even if you just scream it into the void that is Tumblr, writing it down and putting it into words is a powerful reminder of why you want to complete this project. 

Add your own, because sometimes writing starts to feel bogged down to me too, and I could always use more help
