*****SPOILERS FOR TROS*****
I loved the Ben solo redemption arc cause I love me a good redemption arc and also I’m glad that leia was able to find peace knowing that her son had turned to the light side ugh that whole scene where she’s trying to communicate with him had me CRYING.
However, I could have done without the r*ylo kiss. Idk it just seems like it was a cheap cop out. I was hoping that the movie wouldn’t go in that direction but it did so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the scene itself was sweet, him essentially giving his life to save hers, the little smile that we see after they kiss, THE FIRST TIME HE GENUINELY SMILES IN THE WHOLE TRILOGY.
That part was sweet but then you start to think about all of the abusive and manipulative power he had over her at different points in the series. Sure she is a very powerful Jedi but that doesn’t mean that he wasn’t scary as shit. Think back to the first movie when he was chasing her through the forest she said that she’s being “hunted by a creature in a mask.” I think it’s safe to say that she was probably shitting her pants when he was coming after her, and that was before she realized how much power she actually had.
And then there’s the whole thing where he gets in her head and continues to mess with her mind even after she told him to stop. Sooo...
Bonus: if jj abrams just had to add a romance plot to the movie Fin and Poe were RIGHT THERE. Just chilling... 5 feet apart because they’re not gaY DAMMIT JJ WHY??
