FYI for friends - I’m going to be deactivating my tumblr soon.

It’s been a while coming. I’ve tried just logging off of tumblr and taking a break, but that doesn’t really work for me. I’m in a good place, but tumblr tends to be my time suck and it’s also become my echo chamber that makes me feel like I’m doing something positive in the world when really I’m just reblogging things that everyone on here agrees with anyway. I think I can make aspects of my life better if I put my energy into other things. If anyone really wants to stay in touch let me know and I can give you my twitter handle. :)

This is Taliesin Myrddin.  He was 23 years old.  He passed away last night in Portland Oregon along with another hero while defending two muslim girls from hateful abuse from a white supremecist on the MAX train.  The media has a lot of information to give you about the asshole that took their lives, but I want to share Taliesin and eventually the other hero too.  They are the ones who deserve to be known, they are the ones who literally died to do what was right. They are the true spirit of Portland Oregon, not the evil man who did this to them.

This is Rick Best.  He was 53 and a veteran of the army.  He had three teenage sons and a 12 year old daughter.  He also gave his life to defending two muslim girls on the MAX train last night.  He also deserves to be known.  Thank you Talisein and Rick.  You are symbols of the good in this world and true heroes to your city.  I am so sorry for what happened to you and send all my love to your grieving families and loved ones

This is Micah Fletcher. He’s 21 and a student at PSU. He was also the third man to approach that fucking monster. He’s been close to my family since I was born and has been like a brother to me my entire life. He was stabbed and is in critical condition currently. Please, pray for him and his family.

Y’ALL my sister just dropped a theory about Moana on me and I’m

Grandma Tala. She seemed like a fairly healthy old woman on the whole, right? Dancing with the sea and the rays, doing Old Crazy Lady things etc etc. Okay. Sure.

The thing is, my sister suddenly pointed out that, ever since Moana dropped it as a baby, Tala had possession of the Heart of Te Fiti. The source of Life.

And then she gave it to Moana, who ran off with it to try and get the islanders to voyage out for Maui, and… suddenly deteriorated. Died.

What if the Heart had been keeping her alive. Te Fiti gave Life to the islands, but in the hands of another, what if that isn’t what it does? What if the Heart grants immortality? What if Tala knew, and still gave up the Heart so that Moana could find Maui, restore Te Fiti, and save Motunui?

And if that’s what the power of the Heart really was, no wonder the monsters wanted it.

After dramatic negotiation session at the Cannes Film Festival, Netflix has nabbed a film project pairing Grammy winner Rihanna with Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, in a concept that began as a Twitter sensation. Ava DuVernay (Selma) will direct, and Issa Rae (Insecure) is in talks to write the screenplay. According to sources, Netflix landed the project in a very aggressive bid, beating out multiple other suitors. Netflix had no comment. The project began as a Twitter meme when the photo above — a shot that was taken in 2014 of the two women in the front row of a Miu Miu fashion show — went viral, prompting calls to turn it into a movie.
