i'm begging you guys to start pirating shit from streaming platforms. there are so many websites where you can stream that shit for free, here's a quick HOW TO:
1) Search for: watch TITLE OF WORK free online
2) Scroll to the bottom of results. Click any of the "Complaint" links
3) You will be taken to a long list of links that were removed for copyright infringement. Use the 'find' function to search for the name of the show/movie you were originally searching for. You will get something like this (specifics removed because if you love an illegal streaming site you don't post its url on social media)
4) each of these links is to a website where you can stream shit for free. go to the individual websites and search for your show/movie. you might have to copy-paste a few before you find exactly what you're looking, but the whole process only takes a minute. the speed/quality is usually the same as on netflix/whatever, and they even have subtitles! (make sure to use an adblocker though, these sites are funded by annoying popups)
In conclusion, if you do this often enough you will start recognizing the most dependable websites, and you can just bookmark those instead. (note: this is completely separate from torrenting, which is also a beautiful thing but requires different software and a vpn)
you can also download the media in question (look for a "download" button built into the video window, or use a browser extension such as Video DownloadHelper.)
if the "Complaint" links are not visible for you:
Option 1: try the DuckDuckGo search engine instead (bonus: dedicated to privacy! doesn't track your data!)
Option 2: go directly to LumenDatabase.org (the website that collects the complaints--and therefore the removed links) and search for the title you want. look for results titled "DMCA (Copyright) Complaint to Google" featuring the media you're looking for. Proceed to Step 3 (above).
personally, i'm a huge fan of r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH. they keep their links up to date and they also rank them, basically. they also have all kinds of little pages explaining how to safely pirate shit.
^^^^what they said. I'm surprised people are still reblogging this post now that google's flushed itself down the toilet. so here is your
2026 UPDATE:
just go to r/FreeMediaHeckYeah and r/Piracy. it's easier, more reliable, and will take care of all your piracy needs!

Sesame Street posting techniques for comforting children during traumatic world events feels so fucking dystopian but here are the slides they posted just in case you or a loved one has any little critters at home right now
No one is doing well right now, but being a little critter right now has got to be terrifying. This is such a crushing series of images, especially considering PBS’s funding got slashed. While I’m happy Sesame Street continues to keep the wellbeing and education of children as a major priority, there’s a certain amount of innocence that Sesame Street represents and this is giving me such a visceral feeling rn
sesame street has been meeting kids where they were at since the 70s, and in the 70s, POC kids were in some pretty scary places. what contemporary white parents might perceive as a sudden dystopian horror is, sadly, the level of trauma, violence, insecurity, and fear that a lot of non-white families have had to navigate for generations. it has always been hard and heartbreaking for some families to try to protect their kids from knowing how dangerous the world is and how much some parts of it want them dead. now it's white parents time to join in that important work. i don't meant to scold, but i want to remind: generations of kids have taken much-needed messages of comfort and solace from sesame street, and the people there have always known, since the start, how much we need bravery and compassion. it's not about innocence and it's not about ignorance: it's about love. this is their entire mission, and they're staying strong. we can too.
The censored version of super graphic ultra modern girl that plays at my workplace is actually superior because they censor the word “fugly” so Chappell just goes “He was wearing these……. Jeans.” and it sounds way more devastating
Angert coming back from an away mission in the deep hours of the morning, achy, tired, ready to strip his gear off and collapse into bed with his mates lovers.
Only to find a few brave candles spluttering in the gloom of Meghill's study as the clan chief hunches over his desk, piled with scrolls and ledgers and various items, all vying for the man's limited attention.
Angert sighs to himself, slipping into the room in plain view but it's not until he gently lays his hand across the scroll Meghill's frowning at that the silver-haired man notices his presence, startling slightly before he turns to give Angert a tired but genuine smile.
"And how many nights has this been going on, hm?"
Meghill's face immediately turns sheepish and he looks away. Angert's groan of frustration, annoyance, and worry is soft, as soft as his headbutt when he presses his forehead onto the top of Meghill's head and lets himself rest there.
Angert feels warm, calloused hands wrap around his waist, drawing him foreward until Meghill can press his face into Angert's exposed stomach, his exhales soft and grounding against the other's skin. Angert reaches up to begin carding his fingers through the silky hair practically glowing in the candlelight.
"Are you really going to tell me you left our little pink jewel all by herself while you sat out here with bad posture, working on your frown lines?"
"He did, actually."

Justin McElroy talking about accessibility in live theatre (June 9, 2019)
“Art is happening everywhere all of the time” but an awful lot of it seems to only ever happen in New York and London, doesn’t it?
Unless your enjoyment of theatre is based in the idea that you get to do it and The Poors don’t and that’s why it’s fun for you, how does other people getting to experience recordings of it make it worse? Like why would anybody be against that. “Oh it’s better in person” yeah and concerts are often more fun than listening to CDs, so what? There’s absolutely no reason why people in other places and circumstances shouldn’t get to experience art.
maybe we could. idk. Just a suggestion. fund régional theatre
In Poland our national television TVP has a thing called “Teatr Telewizji” (TV Theatre), where it emits theatre productions of both classic and modern plays prepared specifically for the television format, often times featuring legendary Polish actors.
It’s catchphrase is “Największa Scena Świata” (The Biggest Stage of the World) and it has been running since 1953. In Poland it is considered an important cultural institution that brings theatre to the masses.
During the times when my Mom was going to high school, some teachers required their students to watch the weekly plays and then discussed them in class.
Most newer plays can be watched online.
