I reccomend fanfiction, fanart, and original fics for a wide variety of fandoms. I will read almost anything. The purpose of this blog is to spread the word about the best fanfics in any fandom! There was something wrong with Prince Sephiroth. He was off-putting, uncanny, and everyone knew it.

So it wasn’t a surprise that all of Sephiroth’s guards abandoned him during an assassination attempt. All but one. Cloud, loyal despite the prince’s reputation, saved Sephiroth even when he didn’t need saving, sparking an obsession he never could’ve prepared for.

Genesis, the Crown Prince, didn’t know what to do when Sephiroth’s attention suddenly wasn’t solely on him. When he found out what had caught Sephiroth’s eye, he knew he’d do whatever he could to get in between his brother and the sweet little guard he was obsessed with.

None of them could have predicted how entangled they would become… (Except Sephiroth, who maybe had planned for it all along)

2026 FFVII Summer Holestice sign ups are open!

Hello friendlies, it's that time of year again! Sign ups are open for this year's summer holestice smut fic exchange! What a lovely way to bring in the longest day.

Here's how it works:

Sign up on ao3 and fill out the google form linked on the sign up page by 21 May!

Ch0nky and Miku and I will do our matchmaking magic and send out prompts within a few days, then you've got about three weeks to write your fic! Gifts are due on 14 June and will be revealed by the holestice proper, 21 June!

The google form is pretty darn detailed; consider it way to let the mods know what foods you like and some potential combinations, as well as what foods you don't really want to receive or prepare! It's super important to me that everyone who participates can get a few prompts they're excited to write while also maintaining enough flexibility to foster creativity.

This is our fourth time doing this exchange (how!?), and I absolutely adore seeing what people create. If you have any questions at all about it, please don't hesitate to hit me up! Neji Hyuuga Centric Fics Recs

Recently I was sick and laid the fuck out on the couch for a week or so, and the Naruto channel was free on Roku. I was high af and watched all of the Part I and the beginning of Shippuden. It reminded me so much of 1) how much filler there is in Part I 2) how much I very much enjoyed the cast and worldbuilding pre-Shippuden 3) how much I fucking hate Shippuden lolll.

Below are Neji Hyuuga fics worth reading that I enjoyed, organized by wordcount. Ship-blind, as always, with special love given for Team Guy or mission fics. Most numerous ships are probably ShikaNeji, since I like both characters. I don't hate NejiTen, but I despise the pair the spares trend that used to be super popular before polyshipping was a thing (though I don't care for that either.) Ambivalent about Hyuugacest and I'll always gladly explore a rarepair.

100k+ Words

Impulsivity-Addiction-Need by ilicon Main stories Impulsivity, Addiction . Author summary is long. A twisty, intensely adult Shikeneji fic.

This fic is so well written! It's got a bit of everything; mission fic, romance, melodrama, action, and politics. 🌟

50-100k Words

Nightingale by riversrunthroughme Hyuuga Neji goes missing nin, which is more complicated than it sounds. Luckily the Uchiha brothers are experts in professional treachery and more than willing to give him tips...whether he wants them or not. /post timeskip/ Sound Village mind f***ery/

Characterizations that really stand out here aside from Neji's are Kabuto and Sasuke's. Really fun balance and exposition of the power-scaling pre-shippuden. Horror and action with stellar writing. Probably my favorite fic on this list. 🌟

Eternity of the Fireflies by RhiyaDarkfire Author's summary is extremely long: In the future, Shikamaru is conflicted about his feelings for Neji long after Neji's death. Orochimaru tempts him with a solution.

A gorgeous analepsis story where the past and future unwind simultaneously. Also available in German! 🌟

KSGS by daniwritesattimes Once Shikamaru's strange ability to conjure shadows becomes apparent to his parents, he is sent to a school like no other where his peers are "gifted" just like himself. Only, he was the only one who didn't have complete control of his gift and as he grew, the shadows grew alongside him. With the help of his classmates and the institute's teachers, Shikamaru must find a way to take control of the dark gift before it seeps past the academy's gates and threatens the outside world.

A little slow-moving at times, but an enjoyable (and complete!) read. This story gets far too little love.

team. by waterpllar Long Author Summary. The Uchiha don't die, the war never stops, and Sakura and Neji are codependent child soldiers in this dystopia hell.

Really a Sakura fic so well-written I couldn't not include it.

DEAD DOVE ABO- Anyway, there had to be one, I love this trope so much, and this one is my favorite. Melodramatic as get out, sweet and romantic at times, bits and pieces of horror here and these. Enojyable read.

25-50k Words

lines of descent by AwayLaughing (ao3 only) Oneshots on the Hyuuga clan, and the struggles of the people therein.

I spent 50 hours and scrolled through 45+ pages on the Hyuugas character tag to find this fic. Not because I read it before, but because its a perfect characterization of all the Hyuugas that appear in canon and a perfectly written gap filler. 🌟

Effloresce by AwayLaughing (ao3 only) A last minute change in Konoha's rosters leaves Team Gai with an exciting prospect - another C-rank to put under their belt! Nothing can possibly bring them down after that. Not even a grumpy drunk for a client. After all, not only does it look good on a record, and pay better than a D-rank, but they get to see a whole new country. Wave, here they come! AKA The Wave Arc, Team Gai style.

Everyone is so wonderfully in character here! All four team member shine, the voices of each character is distinct and well-written, and the canon diverges in a delightful way! Not a lazy rehash with name changes. 🌟

The Lazy Man's Guide to Finding Love by GremlinSR (ao3 only) Shikamaru’s parents are pressuring him to pick a wife before he becomes clan head. Neji’s clan is getting ready to marry him off to a stuffy Hyuuga unless he puts forward a better candidate. Good thing Shikamaru’s a genius and can see the obvious (and easy) solution to both their problems.

Cute little fic!

The Cage Has No Door by silverwings741 also on FFN Neji Hyuga lived. That is the divergence point. But for the ‘Shield of Konoha’, survival feels like the final proof of a lifelong cage. Two years after the war, he walks away from the village to conduct a brutal, personal experiment on the nature of freedom, leaving behind a question that paralyzes the victorious village and ignites a global ideological and emotional cold war. Told through the eyes of both the exile and of those trying to save, manage, or understand him, this is the story of a single truth that fractures a world: a story about the unbearable cost of seeing what no one wants to see.

I had hoped there would be more plot, but it's a sick!fic minus the fluff. That's what I enjoyed; the despair, mental anguish, and overall sadness. It's not angsty nor overwritten, though! *Several chapters later, I eat my words. This is now a mission fix that I HIGHLY recommend. Currently in progress and probably one of my favorites on this list. 🌟

Neji’s Nice List by silverwings741 Neji Hyuuga has faced down Akatsuki and Jinchuriki. But his most terrifying mission yet? Two weeks of forced kindness for Tenten, orchestrated by the one force of nature he can't counter: Rock Lee's unwavering belief in "youth." Failure is not an option. Sanity, however, might be.

In my list as "Rock Lee is the GOAT." LMAO, anyway, I absolutely love this author's take on Neji. The analytical, precise observations detached from the dearth of emotion this man feels, and a wonderful Tenten! 🌟

Cloud Hands by Branch Hinata has long been inspired by Naruto, and watching his determination helps her find her own. Seeking a way to help her clan and herself, she turns to Hyuuga's history and finds old strength and new thoughts there, courage and hope. In the end, she even finds her way back to an older love.

God I'm such a slut for a good melodrama, and this is one of the best I've read.

Native Birds of the Land of Fire by bombshells @iskindiriya Neji survives the Fourth Great Ninja War, but his actions have permanent repercussions on his life. Confronted with a destruction of everything he stood for before and tired of the cycle repeating itself, he becomes disillusioned as his uncle refuses to acknowledge him. Neji refuses to bow to him any longer, as he tries to determine the true nature of his relationships with his family, his friends, and with Tenten.

Nejiten. This is the best Neji!Lives AU. Superb writing characterization, especially because it's from Neji's pov third person. An emotional rollercoaster.🌟

Oracle by Phoenix of Eternity When an injury leaves Neji without his sight, the Hyuuga prodigy must decide for himself what fate he really bears. COMPLETE

Absolutely unique premise, tight plot and pacing, suspenseful and the ending? The ending makes this fic worth rereading, again and again. Also recommend Triptych and Final Farewell for her other Hyuuga-centric fics, though all her Naruto fic is worth a read.

He gets better, only to scare himself a lot worse when he sees his death has removed the curse seal. A retelling of the Hyuuga clan with Hizashi as their liberator. (Remember how Haku's technique "killed" Zabuza enough to fool Kakashi? What if it's enough to fool the Hyuuga curse seal?)

Excellent canon!AU.

three necessary conversations by bombshells @iskindiriya The life of a shinobi was a dangerous one; as such, Gai thought he was well-acquainted with fear. Watching Lee fight the Sand boy, however, had given it new meaning. The preliminary elimination matches are over, and Gai is worried about his students.

A combination of my favorite three things a fanfic-- canon outtake, better than canon characterization, and complete! Absolutely perfect Team Guy fic. Honestly, putting this under a Neji ficrec doesn't do it justice; all four members of Team Guy have a perspective that is just gloriously written. This is the kind of fic you recommend to a fan who doesn't like fanfiction, and it would change their mind. 🌟🌟

Professionalism and Other Farces by bombshells @iskindiriya Neji and Tenten's genin teams are curious about their senseis' personal lives. Neji and Tenten themselves are not amused.

Another absolute banger from bombshells. OC-centric next-gen that is silly and well-written. Author has a special talent for distinct narrative voice.

This is a fanfic theme that is often attempted and rarely well-written. If you like KakaGai I'd recommend their other works, but especially the rival villages au. 🌟

Restrictions by MegaWallflower Neji would probably never get another chance to kill someone from the main branch. He didn’t care who it was, he just wanted the freedom that would come with feeling that rage and killing for it before they could kill him.

Adrien's my favorite character in miraculous, and though I'm not big on woobie whump I do love me an angsty dark fic. Ugh, I've misplaced so many of my Sadrien bookmarks, but here are some of my angsty favorites, organized by wordcount (meaning ships, AUs, Canon Divergence, and most importantly, RATINGS are NOT TAGGED in this post). I'm a slut for AUs, Canon Divergence, and horror, and I've tried to avoid saltfic and freakfic since this is a reblog lol.

There are two fics in particular I wanted to add to this list but cannot seem to locate.

One of them was an akumatized!Adrien fic where his akuma has doppelgangers of himself based off his emotions (read between 2016-2018).

The other was a post season 5 fic where Adrien is basically struggling with keeping up the mask of mourning now that his father is dead and regarded a hero, because he is glad Gabriel is dead. (read within the last year.

One of the first Miraculous fics I ever read, before Gabriel was confirmed to be balls to the walls crazy. When he was like, neglectful abusive lite and we still got Adrien character-development in canon. T_T This story isn't explicitly Adrien-centric, but the angst is just *chefs kiss* impeccable. Nathalie and Gabriel are fucking awful in this fic and I am emotionally invested in seeing where this story goes.

Heroes of the day by metawohoo

Alya tries to reconnect with other Akuma victims, and discovers some lingering issues to the whole "supervillain" business. In the meantime, Marinette misplaces Tikki, and Adrien's relationship with his father grows tense.

An intensely plotty novel, but Adrien's subplot in this story is so well written, it exists in my head rent-free ten years later.

The Midnight Oil by Lyoko_Native

Adrien was kidnapped and held captive for ten years, enduring unimaginable torture. Through dumb luck, he finally manages to escape. But now, he has trouble adapting to a world he can't even remember.

This one is for the whump lovers. Do you graphic imagery of your woobies being tormented, then a slow, loving recovery, complete with happy ending featuring OTP? This is the fic for you.

what worse luck by GuardianKarenTerrier Series

He doesn't know what happens. One minute he's struggling against the leash spell, the next he's tripping on his own momentum as the magic suddenly snaps, as he tastes freedom for the first time in- in ever, probably. Adrien doesn't stop long enough to think about where he's going or why. He just bolts. (Marinette's spell goes wildly off-target, but it's a stroke of luck for everyone involved that it does).

This is one series I run to when it updates. Adrien is sad af, Marinette is more heroic than she is in canon, and I'm rooting so hard for them. Beautifully written, excellent world-building, and overall an engrossing read. Also recommend Seeking Shelters.

Just a series of stories that typically end "badly" as I explore the multifaceted effects of Gabriel's abuse on Adrien's fractured psyche.

Initially, I started out only recommending A Man of Action (Figures), but then I figured I should just recommend the series as a whole here, which is why it's in this category. One of the best, multifaceted, complex characterization of Adrien I've found on the internet. A favorite of mine. Talik-Sanis is an amazing author I found through their MAWS fics, if you like other sad bishi boys. ^_^

Hawk Moth--Gabriel Agreste--knows his son is Chat Noir, so he gives Chat Noir an ultimatum he's sure Adrien can't refuse.

Lynse is an angst queen. I stan her across multiple fandoms. This is my favorite miraculous fic from her!

Muddled by lethargicshadowlover (orphan_account) ABANDONED FIC

It was thought by the time she turned twenty Marinette Dupain-Cheng would have her life in order, her heart locked in a safe place, and her dreams well on their way to being achieved. See, University was great and all, but it didn't provide help and answers to how these things were possible. But her salvation did come, in a friendship she didn't think would be possible with the man she'd swooned over through her teenage years. Still, even with Adrien Agreste at her side in more ways than she could've hoped, one issue remains to break the foundations she'd worked to build, and, that issue came in the form of Chat Noir. But Ladybug, too, must take the blame for so many mistakes as the two of them find themselves confusing each others lives unknowingly. (Originally by lethargicshadowlover / notquitejiraiya, but abandoned. I’m very sorry.)

This is saaad. Enjoyable read, but saad.

Five Years Ago, Hawkmoth made a wish and disappeared. It should have been the end of the story, but for Adrien, it was anything but. Bound by his Amok at the side of a wife he hates, Adrien struggles to survive in a world that wants to eat him alive.

OOOH the whump is whumping here. Adrien suffers and suffers, questioning literally everything but his love for his daughter. The part of this I enjoy the most is probably the fact that though he questions everything, and the narrative is disassociated in a lot of parts, there's no point where he questions if his feelings for his child are real. Very raw reactions, not just a happy ever after, and a wonderful build that literally gave me canon amnesia it was so good.

In fact, he was a mischievous, troublemaking, escape artist who periodically gave him heart attacks because of the shit the little imp pulled. Gerard knew better. He knew who the real Adrian Agreste was and he’d watched the two powerful Agreste’s systematically destroy that person for what they wanted in a son rather than what they had. The worst part was… Gerard had been a part of creating that persona.

Every time I work on my crossover, and I need a reference for Baby!Adrien, this is a fic I find myself returning to. This fic just so excellently explores the depth of character that was hinted at in earlier seasons, from an outsider POV. Love love love love this fic. If there was one Sadrien fic that I would consider a must read on this list, it's probably this one.

Senti!Cat Adrien by Anonymous

Emilie and Gabriel deside that they do not have the time for a child, but the sentibeing is almost already created. Despite being a cat, Adrien - their creation of love - still has traits of a human. This changes some parts, but others remain the same. What is a senticat to do?

I feel like a fraud including so many senti!Adrien fics because goddamn do I hate that plot twist, but this fic is so good. Well written, fast-paced, angsty, and unique~

I love Akumatized!Adrien fics that aren't Chat Blanc. I think canon has shown that the effects the Miraculous have on people differ when they are transformed vs. not (ex: Sandboy) and after S4 it's like never explored in fic anymore, so this is a fav of mine.

Mum nods, clapping her hands together. “Your brother is finally feeling better and is coming home today! Isn’t that so exciting?” Félix pauses mid-bite, processing her words. Mum waits expectantly, as if expecting him to jump for joy, or his equivalent of it. But… Félix doesn’t have a brother. (Or Félix’s brother is a monster, but only in the most literal sense. Félix’s father is a monster despite being very, very human. He learns to navigate the world through these two truths.)

Technically more Felix!Angst, but even Scarydrien is sad af in this jawn. Creepy, tender, sad, and sweet, a perfect balance of atmospheric angsty horror and some of the best paced writing on this rec-list.

It's incredibly difficult to completely tell a story that packs and emotional punch in so few words. I think it's harder than writing hundreds of thousands of words. NinaDove is a master of this, and I recommend everything else they write too! This one in particular is my favorite.

A short little comic based on the idea of Adrien being akumatized! Sometimes you just gotta put some faith in your partner, even if that partner is currently being possessed by an evil butterfly enthusiast and wants to stab you with a magic sword. 

There are a dearth of fics inspired by this comic-- I'm still looking for my favorite one lol, so I couldn't possibly not include this OG that inspired them all! Beautiful art. :D

MiniMinou is a beast of a writer. I love all of her miraculous fics, especially Iron-Kissed, From the Ashes and this story. Utterly jossed by canon, but man fuck Astruc anyway XD. Her characterzation of Adrien really shines here. He's clever, gentle, and somewhat shy while still being 100% capable of manipulation, overconfidence and jealousy. She writes Adrien so wonderfully multi-faceted. Heartbroken Felix is absolutely a delight. 10000/10.

Ways of Grieving by GalahadWilder

When Nathalie dies, Adrien feels nothing. When Gabriel kills himself days later, Adrien shatters. Why can't he grieve Nathalie? Why can't he stop grieving over a man he hates? Why does he deserve his tears, his mourning, more than she does?

Hmm, I love grief fics. I remember a while ago in this fandon (c. 2016-2018) a lot of grief fics where they killed off Papillon kind of hesitated around exploring how complex mourning an abuser can be. This story pulls no punches.
