feel like one thing that is often missed about baseball is that this is the cheater’s game, the call-my-bluff-I-dare-you game, the con man’s paradise. so many of the obscure rules are “people did this until we realized it wasn’t fair and made a rule against it”

can’t hide a potato in your glove and throw it while keeping the baseball, can’t draw the batter’s box extra big, can’t sandpaper the ball or cork the bat or or or… this is 2 parts athleticism 1 part psychological warfare and trickery
