The problem with having OCs is that sometimes you wanna read about your little guy being in situations but unfortunately he is YOUR little guy and no one is gonna put him in that situation but you. Tragic.
yep. electro uses both he/him and they/them pronouns
(this why sometimes i refer to him as my son, and sometimes i refer to them as a traumatized teen disaster. electro's a fellow he/they masculine-leaning nonbinary person...! that i made up in my brain, but still!)
that comic's about After The Incident That Exploded Electrodendra's Planet And Destroyed Their Life In His Home Space Colony. Electro becomes a (literally) homeless traveler, one crossing the universe to- unknowingly and unconsciously- find someplace to belong, and people who care about them.
AND THEN Faera ends up coaxing Electro into having a place to stable place to stay (quite like one would try to convince a feral/wild/stray cat, lmao), and eventually ends up becoming Electro's adoptive father.

they were supposed to be side characters, and now they are Blorbos, and they flood my thoughts c o n s t a n t l y .
...it's okay because i love them, though, haha.

also, WARNINGS for: (fictional*) mentions of highly illegal and unethical experiments, mentions of violence, mentions of death (and coming back to life), mentions of blood/mild gore, and just plain angst.
...i love angst so much.

Phaze Rider [he/him, currently a middle-aged adult man] was a young lab experiment by mad scientists, originally made to be a weapon. his powers have to do with the coding of the universe. (i know, very overpowered. but it's awesome.)
Phaze turned out rather average though, so they started testing experimental (and highly illegal) drugs on him to make him stronger. however, it only worked temporarily, and the drugs started making Phaze very sick, very quickly. despite all this, the scientists kept trying, because they were absolutely screwed if one of their possible biggest militarial contributions died.
he actually did end up Falling Down- NOT dying, but he was very close to his Soul shattering forever. within the mindscape, he's promised power, love, and immortality by some being (a false god!!), but Phaze refuses. because what's the point of being alive if he's just going to suffer forever? so the false- or the "blood-sun" god, as it calls himself- points out "hey bud, your friend seems pretty upset out there," and Phaze is basically like "oh shit, really? guess i'd better get back to him then."
and he wakes up in the arms of Faera, who is freshly out of Rage Beast Mode and ABSOLUTELY COVERED IN DUST AND BLOOD. he is also sobbing acidic (part of his powers, the poison aspect of his magic affecting his body) tears over Phaze's formerly unmoving- and dusting- body, so he doesn't immediately figure out that Phaze is awake. surprisingly, Phaze is unaffected (his body/formerly latent magic unconsciously shielding him from the pain), and says, "hey, we should get out of here." Faera's like, "i thought you were dead, because you were just dying." Phaze responds, "i was, but not anymore." Faera says, "how are you going to get us out of here?? you were just??? literally dying?????"
Phaze, demonstrating his new powers, does two important things:
1)He picks up Faera (who at this point is both taller and bulkier than Phaze is, because being a scrawny lil sickly teenager who is often bedridden strips you of your muscle definition, even if you have an ecto-body), and
2) Phaze points at a window and it EXPLODES OUTWARDS. the glass just SHATTERS. Phaze expected it to do that- he put the power into making it shatter, so he doesn't flinch. Faera is surprised by this, naturally.
but the building is on fire and in various states of falling apart, due to the military raid and the mad scientists trying desperately to protect themselves... so it's definitely time to leave.
Phaze and Faera fly away, find a spot to hide in a different universe (my own AU Havenplace), and that's where it starts involving way too many other characters to immediately explain, lol. (that's part of why i'm writing fanfic about it, haha. it's all very complicated.)

Faera Vantris [he/him, currently a middle-aged adult man] was ALSO a young lab experiment and living weapon, but his tests SUCCEEDED. Faera has split powers- almost evenly half fire and half poison.
so Faera got passed off to the nearby military facility, who almost immediately began depersonalizing him, training him as a special weapon, and pitting him in arena/death matches for "entertainment." despite all this, Faera tried to make friends and have a semi-normal life... but being used and trained as a weapon made his unstable Soul act up, and therefore his magic was affected. he didn't want to hurt people! why were people so intent on making him do it??
so Faera was branded with a Rune (sci-magic... tech and magic combination invented by the mad scientists nearby)- one directly in the roof of his mouth that made his magic more powerful and amped up both halves of his magical aspects... at the cost of making him more unstable and violent, which he hated and didn't want, but now he was an absolutely unstoppable Beast when he went Rage Mode. (think of the incredible hulk kinda transformation thing, or a barbarian's "rage" in dungeons & dragons.)
he met Phaze when he climbed in through his window, who was stationed on one of the lower floors at the time due to his new difficulties climbing stairs (due to the whole "mega-super-illegal wonder drug complications" deal). Phaze had just been tested to see if he could still fly at high speeds in a wind tunnel- he couldn't, and was injured because of it- so he was lying on the floor after being reprimanded by his "doctor"- or more accurately, "keeper", as the main person who was experimenting on him.
Faera didn't know any of this background information, though, so he just tried to help Phaze out with healing. he was not naturally good at healing magic, but Phaze certainly appreciated the efforts.
and as explained earlier, he was VERY UPSET when the military decided that when Phaze was dying, their contract with the mad scientists was broken, so they raided the place. and Faera, who was extremely pissed off at the time, well...
he basically heard the news, went into Uncontrollable Beast Mode, and blacked out until he found Phaze. (he doesn't like killing. he never did. but he had to, to get to his best friend in the whole universe.) to his surprise, Phaze actually... woke up? with these epic new powers?? and is offering to fly them away with his working, full-length wings that... grew back somehow???? i mean... hell yeah dude, let's get out of here!!

Electrodendra "Electro" Vantris [he/they, currently a teenager, nonbinary & transmasculine guy-ish person], however, was NOT an experiment!
they were from an entirely different AU, one that had developed space travel. Electrodendra lived within a space colony with their parents (mother [she/her] & guardian [they/them]) and sister. he was actually pretty average, and was on track to eventually be an aerospace engineer...
until one of the agents/pawns of the blood-sun god showed up and started killing people. they were an unstoppable force, reducing centuries of civilization to mere rubble. (think level 90 evil video game character vs. level 15 neutral good character, but times... about a thousand.) Electro couldn't do anything, and ended up dying by being shot by a Magi-tech Laser Gun that was supposed to be for defending the colony.
GUESS WHO SHOWS UP. THAT'S RIGHT. the blood-sun god makes a deal with Electro for power in exchange for part of their remaining Soul (a deal they made with Phaze as well), and while Electro is more suspicious, he eventually takes it.
...and Electrodendra- in a newly vengeful and powered-up state- ends up destroying what remains of the planet in an attempt to stop the invader... which succeeds! except... the planet is now completely shattered, no one else is left alive, and... it's just not sustainable- much less survivable, at least to most- to keep living there.
so they leave via a portal, and end up universe-hopping for a while before coincidentally ending up in the same universe as Phaze and Faera. Electro doesn't know either of them, of course, so he ends up as one of the homeless young people who lives in Havenville. they tend to stay away from people, feeling jaded and frightened of people as a whole, and are generally suspicious of anyone offering help out of the goodness of their heart.
naturally, this causes Faera to go out of this way to "tame" and adopt this poor disadvantaged youth, because A. it's a good thing to do, B. it shows that he's capable of being caring/nuturing/a regular guy instead of an unstable living weapon,
and... C. what Electro doesn't know is that he sees a reflection of himself in Electro- a young person who's lost and disillusioned with the world, and who's convinced that everyone's in it for themselves. and maybe it's selfish of Faera, but he doesn't want anyone to feel that way, so...
maybe Faera can convince one jaded teenager that kindness is worth accepting, so one day he can give it to someone else who really needs it.

their stories all start to intersect when 1) Faera takes in and adopts Electro by coaxing them in like a traumatized stray cat, 2) Phaze decides that he wants to show up one day and apologize to Faera about the hurt he's caused them, and 3) Phaze notices that something familiarly WrongTM is going on with Electro, but he can't PROVE it yet.
then Phaze and Faera pine after each other- being as they were very closely bonded after they escaped the Mad Scientist Lab and Evil Military Place for a while, solve Faera's mouth Rune/really unstable magic problem, end up dating, and everything seems fine.
THEN THE FALSE GOD COMES BACK TO WREAK HAVOC, BECAUSE THEY HATE THEIR 'PAWNS' BEING HAPPY.
(and then there's an epic mindscape-fight-fusion-thing that i'm planning, but it's kind of a big undertaking, haha... wish me luck. i don't need it, but it'd be appreciated, lmao)
faera's feelings about phaze in their canon story (Reality Bends To Us/RBTU): loving, a bit conflicted, horny, compassionate, sympathetic
faera's feelings about phaze in the Knight x Dragon-Shifter AU: fuck that guy, he sucks, i hate him, why's he so hot!!!, ugh that's why he sucks so bad, and i hate his personality, why's he so weird and mysterious all the time, immortal dragon bastard man, he's awful!!, what the fuck, why do i want him, what's wrong with me
perhaps... one day i will make a comic about them!
it'll probably be once i finish Less Than Magic, honestly. especially since Zil'ec's, Phaze's, and Faera's stories are so intertwined with Electrodendra's.
i just wanna... like, have all the details together before i start Changing Things Partway Through or Accidentally Forget Something Important About Him. and i want the continuity and plot to make sense before i go off and... try to draw a crazy detailed sci-fi background and, i dunno, give up partway through, lmao...
i haven't drawn enough backgrounds to be a good comic artist- at least not enough backgrounds set in an Actual World instead of just Vibes Based Patterns and Colors 😅
Electrodendra Vantris was, as i've said before many times, adopted by Faera Vantris. but BEFORE that, he lived in their original universe, which was within a GALACTIC SPACE COLONY. he had family there- their mom, his (other) parent (nonbinary/enby), and their sister. it was very sci-fi/technofuture- think Star Trek, or pretty much any science fiction show you've seen.
however. an Extremely Bad Thing happened one day- the planet cracked in half and everyone died. to put a sorta-long story short, Electro came back to life and put a stop to the person who Did The Terrible Thing, but couldn't revive their family or people. so he left. they started traveling to different universes, trying to find a place to belong, but he never stuck around long.
and THEN he found the Havenplace universe- specifically Havenville! and THAT'S when Faera was like. ooooohhh shit, there's a random homeless teenager who i keep driving by on my way home from work who never seems to have a home to go back to. maybe i should try and domesticate them like you would a feral cat (which wasn't his exact phrasing of thought, but it's pretty much what happened, lol)
this is a loose concept of how they would look fused together. because they are fused in The Mindscape, it's reversible, and they're not a freaky mutant forever. however they are freaks despite all that (due to Traumatic Backstory Lore)
of good it's reversible like transformers!! 4 arms is the correct amount of arms!!!
