I wanted to try my hand at the fairly classic koi tattoo but with a personal twist. This one depicts a coelacanth which are lobe-finned fish known as "living fossils". They're relatives of our own fish ancestors prior to our lineage leaving the water.

“When There Were Dragons”.

This was an experiment for a much bigger project & I couldn’t be happier. It is not a scientifically accurate Allosaurus skull, but it is not intended to be. I carved the skull in relief and then burned the smoke swirls even deeper.

Wood carving, pyrography, watercolor, colored pencil, mica powder, and gouache. May or may not have used the kitchen sink.

The Bog lurker A dragon that patiently pretends to be lilypads and aquatic vegetation waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Bog lurkers rely entirely on water, and barely leave it. Their young are undeveloped, tadpole-like and swim next to them following via the release of a milky substance that is produced on the parent's lower jaw. it lacks nutritional value and is confusing as to what is used for asides for guiding their young.
