Chapter Summary:

“Can I buy you a drink?” he asks with quiet confidence, his gaze hot and penetrating. His eyes focusing on her lips.

“I, I don’t know about that,” Galadriel replies, her voice shaking. She bites her lip. Halbrand’s scent inebriates; amber cologne and smoke. “My husband should be back soon.” He could be back any minute, any minute now.

Halbrand leans forward, his breath is hot against the shell of her ear, the ribbon of her dress still entwined around his finger. “I don’t see your husband anywhere.”

My art piece for the @pb-zines Zine project

I was inspired by Frederic William Burton’s “The Meeting on the Turret Stairs”. A modern twist where after Shane leaves Ilya in his hotel room in Vegas, this is a visual portrayal of their true feelings. Ilya’s anguish not wanting to let the man he is beginning to fall for leave his embrace. Shane is fighting with his own heart, too lost in his head and embarrassment that he closes his eyes against the rejection and unsent messages on his phone.

This was a fun challenge as this was my first time taking part in a zine!
