eastern slavs: ш
western slavs: szcszčsczš
its insane to me that western slavs basically dont use an alphabet *specifically created for slavic languages* because of the great schism
add that to the list of the catholics’ crimes against humanity
This is what happens when you have a Corporately run mainstream media and a corporately run government, neither of which actually acknowledges anything good the NDP does.
If you weren’t paying attention it would look like the Liberals just came up with these positive changes to the CERB (and the CESB wouldn’t even exist without the NDP), instead of the truth which is that it only happened because the NDP spent a weeks long campaign demanding that they make these changes.
This is worse than ignorance. Without the NDP, Trudeau’s solution for students would be no money at all and summer jobs promised sometime in the future, no one would be getting $2000 a month, there would be no improvements of eligibility for EI, part time workers wouldn’t even qualify for the CERB, and employers wouldn’t even be getting the 75% wage subsidy to rehire their workers.
Less than 24 hours after I posted this the NDP have gotten another concession from the Liberals by increasing the Canada Emergency Student Benefit from $1750 to $2000 for disabled students and Students with dependents.
Please tell me this is real akajskakka
PSA to all the peeps who still think NDP don't stand a chance in this election.
Also, Maxime Bernier... why are you even still in this? Like wtf
First-time voters study parties' positions before casting ballots in an advance poll
[…]But all three men reiterated the most important thing they could do was vote — and they encouraged others to do the same.
As a child, Alsaleh worked at a polling station in Syria preparing election cards.
“It asked a question: ‘Do you want Mr. Assad to be the president?’ My job was to mark yes, so when Syrians come to vote … it’s already marked yes,” he said. “That’s Syrian democracy.”
And compared to his Canadian ballot?
“For the first time, I see a ballot with different choices and I get to vote secretly and then cast my own vote into the ballot — it’s amazing.”
He finds it hard to comprehend that many Canadians do not cast their votes — Elections Canada says the turnout was 66 per cent in 2015.
“People are dying to have a say in my country, Syria,” Alsaleh said. “And here you can do it without being policed, without being harassed. You shouldn’t take it for granted. You should go out there, you should vote. Do your duty as a citizen.”
Ramadan put it even more simply.
“Check your privilege.”

Singh said oilsands workers in Alberta have told him that they want to find a path to more steady work outside the sector.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is pledging to help oilsands workers find new jobs outside the sector if his party forms government and implements its plan to combat climate change.
His party’s plan calls for cutting subsidies to oil and gas companies as a way to encourage a transition to renewable energy sources — part of a general pledge shared by the NDP, Greens and Liberals to cut emissions over the coming years.
But the promise does not always resonate well among oil industry workers who are hear in it a pledge that they’ll be out of work if the New Democrats get power.
Singh is promising to take some of the billions in revenues the party is expecting from taxing those whose wealth exceeds $20 million and putting it toward helping those workers in Alberta find new jobs.

Rebel Media's Keean Bexte was part of an online company selling Rhodesian and apartheid South African flags and war memorabilia
It’s the latest viral moment for Jagmeet Singh.
In the media session following Thursday night’s French-language leaders’ debate, the NDP leader politely but repeatedly refused to answer questions from Rebel Media’s Keean Bexte, who identified himself as a reporter with “RNN.”
People who see the short exchange, in which Singh twice informs Bexte that he will not answer his questions, may be interested to learn about Bexte’s history of association with far-right groups and organizations.
Bexte was one subject of a multi-part Ricochet investigation last year that exposed members and staff of Fireforce, a Calgary company selling Rhodesian and apartheid South African flags and war memorabilia — symbols used by white supremacists.

listen i love greta thunberg i really do like what an icon BUT i think it’s absolutely ridiculous that she, a literal child, is being made to be the face of stopping climate change. and she obviously thinks its ridiculous too. i’ve seen so many adults in power talking about how inspirational she is and everything, and then pretty much just stop there. it is EMBARRASSING that the 4.5 billion people over the age of 30 on earth right now are looking to one teenager to fix the problems they created. it’s not inspirational, it’s pathetic. Greta has to be so extremely aggravated with the amount of attention and lack of actual action from policymakers, because I sure am.
i promise you that 4.5 billion people on this planet do not have the position of power to influence climate change
i premise you that being over 30 is not the dividing factor here
i am begging of you all to please recognize class position as the relevant factor here
like i think what greta is doing is great and all but if you focus your ire and your blame on a vague “people over 30 age responsible for climate change” instead of “billionaires with profit interests that are directly tied to fossil fuels and imperialism” that energy is wasted

Elizabeth May is frustrating because, for every good policy that she proposes, there's an equal and opposite bone-dead stupid policy that she proposes the next day.
She wants to stop using foreign oil! By expanding use of Canadian oil!
She wants a universal basic income! But it will replace dedicated supports for people with disabilities!
She wants blanket decriminalisation of all drugs to deal with the fenatyl crisis! But only temporarily, until the crisis is "dealt with", whatever the fuck that means.
It's like...the most frustrating case of shitty centrist neoliberalism ever.
do people really think that the royal family is apolitical. Like sure, they don't have legitimate uncontested political power. But that doesn't mean they don't have interests, and that agendas aren't pushed by people who are royalty in England. Like the queen literally asked to use the state poverty fund to heat Buckingham palace.
When the queen opened parliament in 2016 she outright gave a pro austerity speech sitting on a golden throne with the crown jewels on her head. The crown jewels worth. between 3 and 5 billion pounds.
Like, the Royal family is fucking loaded. 88 billion dollars between all of them apparently. Imagine supporting the continued existence of these people.
im intrigued by the disproportionate amount of attention certain neurotransmitters receive in popular culture, namely serotonin dopamine and sometimes oxytocin; it’s in pharmaceutical companies best interest to maintain this perception that there’s a simplistic, well-understood one-to-one relationship between a given endogenous compound and a specific emotion or state of mind. so people equate serotonin with “happiness” or “absence of depression,” or frame their “adhd” in terms of dopamine levels when those compounds actually are involved in tons of different biological processes! in a lot of ways that model isn’t explicitly wrong, but it obscures so much, and it’s clear to me why. it’s hardly a coincidence that this model is so widely adopted, the idea that all human consciousness and subjective experience is ultimately governed by the presence or absence of this or that chemical, it’s way easier to sell drugs that way.
'I welcome everyone to Nova Scotia - but I don’t welcome this negative, divisive tone,' tweets Stephen McNeil
A political billboard along a busy Halifax highway warning Canadians to “say NO to mass immigration” is being condemned by Premier Stephen McNeil and MP Andy Fillmore.
The billboard, which appeared this week in cities including Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax, Toronto and Regina, bears Maxime Bernier’s face and the logo of his People’s Party of Canada along with the word “VOTE.”
The sign sparked criticism on Twitter, and the Liberal premier added his voice to the opposition, tweeting:
“As premier, I welcome everyone to Nova Scotia - but I don’t welcome this negative, divisive tone. Our population is at an all-time high, unemployment is at a record low and our economy is growing, in large part thanks to immigration. That’s fact, not opinion.”
