hi and hello! my name is ferretwhisper, but feel free to call me ferret or whisper for short! i use she/her pronouns and i'm lesbian woohoouhhhhhh i like a lot of stuff that i'm so incredibly obsessed with and i'll get around to pinning my interests(sounds familar hmmmm)! this blog is a safe space!! catch yall on the flip side :D <3

favorite books/book series: i was really into WoF as a middle schooler and ngl i kinda wanna get back into it, same with the FunJungle series, the Odyssey(NO i haven't seen epic yet 😭 i swear I'm gonna get to it trust), I'm reading the divine comedy for the first time this summer after watching analysises(analyses?) of the book!!, i like books that are really niche :| this is what the ask box is for ask me questions about stuff like these :3

favorite tv shows/movies: ever after high, brooklyn nine-nine, abbott elementary, atypical(netflix series), this one nickelodeon show called side hustle, puss in boots: the last wish, shrek, the mummy and i like a lot more- when it comes to movies and the like I'm not too picky

someone kill me my house in minecraft got struck by lightning and caught fire

things that i did immediately before:

get prot iii thorns i unbreaking ii iron armor

get sharp iii fire aspect i diamond sword

get power v punch ii flame bow

get first try spawned in a fortress, got a bone to tame a dog from killing a wither skelly, and get 21 blaze rods without dying

gather enough materials to craft 250 arrows

i deleted the world bro nothing fucking matters anymore i think i'm gonna go study for my AP exams and cry 😭😭😭😭😭🙏

House made out of cobblestone so fires can fuck off (expanded my base yesterday)

Armor is nearly maxed out(prot IV unbreaking III for everything, i want thorns on my chestplate)

Got 21 blaze rods without dying

Sword is sharp V unbreaking III fire aspect I looting III knockback II named the sigma slicer)

Pickaxe is efficiency V unbreaking V fortune III

Got a power V punch II flame I unbreaking III bow(named alpha squadron)

Got enough materials to have 400 arrows

Tamed 3 wolves on my way back home(portal spawned me FAR away) and i bred them and now i have eight beautiful doggies

Grinded like hell and now i have 6.5 stacks of diamond blocks 😎

Grinded like hell again and now the proud owner of 15 notch apples

my next course of action is to build a mob spawner because for some reason villager trading is broken?? I have a stack of gold blocks and 3 stacks of redstone powder that i was gonna trade with the cleric and the trading menu just...doesn't show up when i right click. don't know why

so now i have to slaughter endermen and survive. the good thing is that i have looting 3 so it greatly reduces the amount i have to kill

hopefully i can get the pearls and beat the dragon without dying! stay tuned, stay tuned!

random people touchin' my hair when i was a child

okay is it just me or was i the only one that just had people/strangers randomly start touching my hair when i was growing up. like it was usually prefaced with a compliment(oh i love your hair etc etc) but still.

maybe it had to do with the fact that my hair was colorful most of the time(twists/braids/etc)

#we dont use honorifics in my first language so whenever i have to select options (usually for flights) im always so confused#like what is actually the difference between miss and ms#i like miss bc it sounds more historical and im a historian so

"Miss" means an unmarried woman. "Mrs." means a married woman. (both of these have origins in the word "mistress" as in "mistress of the house".)

"Ms." - prounounced MIZ, btw - is a third option popularized by gloria steinem in the 70s - mainly through her feminist magazine Ms. - which is meant to be a neutral term, usable for any and all women regardless of marital status (hence the soul destroying irony of the tags above). it gained wider general acceptance when geraldine ferraro, the first woman to be nominated as VP on a national major party ticket, started using it widely to avoid confusion, since she was married but used her maiden name professionally. eventually over the years it came into common use though i do think the brits are a little more critical of it than americans (as far as i'm aware lol)

Hi. I'm an unmarried woman in her forties. I use Ms. and pronounce it "miz", though I don't correct people who accidentally use a soft S. I use Ms. because it's no one's business but my own whether I'm married, to a man or anyone else, and that's what Ms. means. It means fuck off, my marital status is irrelevant, just as it is for every man who uses Mr.

I've had people (usually children) ask me at work if I'm a missus or a miss. I have replied that I am a miz, full stop. And when they pressed for which one I was REALLY, I have replied, "Why? Are you going to treat me differently depending on whether there's a ring somewhere?"

That's what Ms. is for. That is its linguistic function. It says, "This is an adult woman," and nothing else. Nothing else is necessary, and in my case, nothing else is desired.

I also use miz for other women unless and until they express a preference for something else because I don't magically know everyone else's marital status when I meet them. That's a courtesy—I'm declining to assume marital status and allowing them to decide whether they wish to declare it.

Also, I've taught English and worked as an editor for twenty years. I am quite literally the grammar police. This use of Ms. is a standard construction. If you didn't learn it in school, someone failed you.

miss = mrs = ms = because when i was growing up i had a speech impediment so saying the 'Z' sound of Ms. was terribly difficult for me, so i was just told to say everything the same so i wouldn't struggle too badly and over a decade later, here i still am so i don't feel like changing my pronounciation(yes, i am still aware of how they're technically different)

today, i watched the seniors at my school graduate from high school.
