Oh boy.
Do I have a story for youâŚ
So this is the iconic and beloved clock of Moszkva square in Budapest, Hungary. Or more precisely it was.
It was a very popular meeting point for generations.
â2pm on Moszkva, under the clock?â âsureâ It was in the middle of the square, so you could see each other pretty easily from anywhere.
When they ârenovatedâ (rebuilt) and renamed the square that is now called SzĂŠll KĂĄlmĂĄn tĂŠr (only by youngsters and tourists who donât know any better - it will remain for a lot of us âthe Moszkvaâ) the old clock was removed.
So. Removing the clock was very controversial, but it had to go, because someone dreamed about a new shiny one. Here it is. New, and weird and DIGITAL.
The problem is, it stopped working. For days. (you see, fixing it was time-consumingâŚ) And they came and fix it. But it broke down in a couple of days again and again, so the lovely people around helped to fix it. Some of the best solutions:
Graffity: ?Is this a clock? No" and Where is the old clock? Furthermore, on the clock it states that it shows the right time.
An artistic rendition:
But my favorite one is where people got enough of the breaking down abomination, and the heartless people taking down the actually working clocks (it is a very busy square with a lot of public transport connections), and things escalated quickly:
I think this is the most of them we had taped on at once.
The papers state: In memoriam of the unknown time. Rest in Peace
So⌠I guess, Hungarians do.

Iâm pretty sure Iâm not the only one who has trouble remembering developmental milestones. I put these together, but canât take credit for any of the photography. Hope someone finds them helpful!
This is very useful to me i have absolutely no gauge for how old children are and what they can typically do at what ages
Iâve been on Tumblr too long I was definitely expecting this to turn into some existentialist meme
Every writer needs to see this because Iâm really tired of otherwise competent novels in which a two year old is like âmother dearest I do believe I am quite frightenedâ or conversely theyâre supposed to be five and going âme hungie!!!â
Ooh ooh ooh! This looks like an excellent excuse valid reason to talk about one of my favorite topics, matriarch trees!
So, when you see trees in a forest, they stick up outta the ground, some distance from each other, and you're like 'these are unconnected critters,' right? But! The thing is! Just like the trees in the picture are connected above-ground, trees in a forest are normally connected below-ground. There's this whole complicated thing involving a symbiotic relationship with fungi, but we're gonna simplify it to this: trees connect to each other through their root systems.
And they use it to share resources, across the whole forest.
If there's a tree over here growing in soil with a lot of, like, potassium, they'll pull up more potassium than they need, and send it out through the root system to other trees that are living where there isn't much potassium.
And one of the coolest things? Trees communicate their needs. If a tree is sick or damaged or starving, they send chemical messages out through the root system that tell the other trees to send them more food and tree-equivalent-of-immune-system.
Trees will share so much of their resources, they'll even keep trees alive that are almost entirely dependent. Like this tree! The tree above is getting some energy from its leaves, but no other nutrition of its own. And it wasn't able to link up to the shared root system. So the other tree reached out and hooked up to it directly, feeding it all of the nutrients it needed!
You see it more commonly the other way around: in an old-growth forest, where the roots are well-established, you can find stumps where a tree was cut down a century ago... but if you scrape the stump it's still green wood. The tree's still alive, without a single leaf. Because all the other trees in the forest are feeding it.
I promised to talk about matriarch trees, so here's where we get to them.
In a very old forest, you have very old trees. You have some trees that are so very, very old, their own roots cover entire regions of the forest. Their leaves reach up to the sky over everyone else. And after so long, they've developed to where they can take in way more resources than they need.
So what do they do?
They feed baby trees.
Baby saplings in an old forest can't reach up to the sun. There's no light down there. And their roots are too small and shallow to dig down to the nutrients they need. So the matriarch tree will draw energy from its towering canopy, and nutrients from its massive, ancient roots, and feed them to the little trees that are too small to feed themselves. For anything she can't get on her own, she'll act as a central hub, taking in spare resources from the rest of the forest and giving them to the little ones.
And one of the best parts - she won't just do it for her own species. She'll connect to all kinds of trees, because they're all necessary for the ecosystem to work. She'll adopt the whole forest's children.
Sometimes in forests you'll find a spot where there are a lot of small trees in an open space around an old, fallen tree. People generally assume they could find more light there, or maybe the soil's more fertile from the decomposition.
But no.
They're her children, and she's spent centuries keeping the whole forest alive.
This is so hard for us emotionally abused. But it is okay to say no. Itâs okay to set boundaries. You are not being selfish nor awful!
Just like I said. Illegal adoption.

Keep this post alive so that when CARLOS is old enough heâll know these KIDNAPPERS stole him from his MOTHER!
Guatemalan mom: âPlease help me my son was taken from meâ
Those two assholes: âLol finders keepers bitch lmaoâ
Carlos was taken from his mom, Encarnacion Bail Romero after she was arrested during a work raid. Her words, âNobody could help me because I donât speak English,â are still resonating deeply within me. This child was kidnapped from a loving mother, and she went to hell and backwards trying to get him back, and a judge literally told her she had no rights to her own child.
https://twitter.com/evanchill/status/1010399759088193536
Completely unfit parents can get their children back like itâs nothing and this poor woman who loves her child and just wants him with her again cannot? How is this not human trafficking/kidnapping?Â
Also:
The judge said the biological mother had no rights to even see her child, according to the motherâs lawyer.
Asked if the Mosers would allow Bail Romero to see the child, the Mosersâ attorney, Joseph Hensley, said the couple was ânot willing to comment on that at this time.â source
reminder that many children are funneled specifically to Christian families and communities for the same reasons they always have: destroy culture, stack votes, add bodies to communities that otherwise wouldnât hold majorities. it is literal, actual trafficking.
This is a part of genocide. Removing the children from their parents, who generally desperately love and want to raise them, and placing them with white American families is a way to erase their culture from existence without the ugliness of directly killing children. But itâs still ugly, and it cares nothing for the actual welfare of the child.
Another way in which the US is already like the Handmaidâs Tale
Im scheduling this post for 2023 , so Carlos will be old enough to know about his past when he finds this postâŚ
How dare you hide this in the tags

Ok but the fact that you canât actually hear how it was said doesnât do this scene justice:
remember, this is for a DOOR lock.
remember that when picking a DOOR lock, you have to apply a little bit of pressure to your tension wrench (the thing that you use to turn the knob). too little or too much and you wont be able to pick the door open. you can use anything for the tension wrench. a bobby pin. bits of wire. a paper clip. etc.
its best to be completely silent when youre picking locks bc theres this small âclickâ when youre picking that you might miss if youre using headphones or listening to music.
.
if youre picking one of these
you jam something thin and long above one of the rotation dials and you push up on the shackle.
. if its one of these
you get yourself some shims. (or make one. you can make shims out of fucking soda cans), you wiggle them in the tiny space between the shackle and the body of the lock, and you pop these suckers open.
. for a chain deadbolt,
you get something flexible but sturdy and you just push this fucker down
. for one of these rotating combination locks
you can also shim this motherfucker open. jam your shims between the shackle and the body and pry it unlocked. if, for some reason, you dont wanna shim it open, maybe you dont have a shim or you just like a challenge, this bitch can be decoded ridiculously easy. heres what you do:
spin this bitch to the right about two or three times to âresetâ it. then you pull up on the shackle a bit, and turn it right slowly until you hear a click. your number is two spaces further. then you turn left 360 degrees until you land on the right number again, and start turning this motherfucker left until it stops. when it stops, turn right. if its loose, its the wrong number, keep going left. if its not loose, you have the right number, and you turn right all the way until this bitch pops
.
now you know how to pick several common locks!!!!! congratulations!!!!
donât mind me im just reblogging
Yall need to look up the Lock Picking Lawyer on YouTube too, heâs amazing.
His videos are always so blazĂŠ, like âhereâs yet another fucking disappointing lock to pickâ and heâs so good.

I know more about economics than AOC and my knowledge on economics is on a high school level. Its actually embarassing how little she knows about this shit. But hey, expecting a socialist to know about economics is like expecting a fish to know what a desert is.
Much of the ocean is a desert
You know what? Letâs use the allowance example again to make it even clearer.
Letâs pretend we have an allowance tax bracket with a 70% tax on money received after a certain point. To keep things simple, weâll make the limit $90.
If a kid does chores and earns $10 in allowance, they get $10. Theyâre not going to be affected by the 70% tax.
If a kid does chores and earns $50, they get $50. They also arenât in the 70% tax bracket, even though they make five times as much money as the kid making $10.
If a kid does chores and earns $100 in allowance, then theyâre in the allowance tax bracket with the 70% tax.
$100 minus $90 is $10. This is the part thatâs going to be taxed 70%.
70% of $10 is $7.
So the kid getting $100 in allowance will have $93 after the 70% tax takes its share.
Now, Iâd never impose such a thing on actual kids. All of this is a thought exercise.
But if it were real, the kid making $10 and the kid making $50 would probably be kind of mad if the kid getting $93 was bitching about being short $7.
Also, can we talk about how taxes are used to pay for things for the benefit of society - roads, schools, libraries etc. so to further the above example, the parents arenât just pocketing that money themselves just to be mean and selfish, they might use it to pay for a Netflix subscription that the whole family can watch.
Are we, as a fandom, ready to admit that Maiâs entire backstory, personality, coping mechanisms, character traits, strengths, weaknesses, self image, belief system, and arc, are literally almost exactly the same as Toph but like, slightly to the left
Sheltered and coddled rich kid, âbetter seen and not heard,â âdonât speak unless youâre spoken to,â âstay in your room and stay out of trouble,â both painfully bored and stifled to the point of being incredibly depressed and borderline self destructive, Toph turned to earthbending matches, Mai taught herself how to throw knives, neither ever learned how to interact with people their age or how to have friends and struggles with social interaction, neither expect anyone to respect their opinion or even listen so they always either just keep their opinion to themself or when they boil over, they boil over completely and turn to shouting or violence because they donât believe anyone will listen to them otherwise, both slowly had to learn to love and to trust that someone would be there, while also learning that they deserved better and should defend their boundaries because being treated like a human instead of a prop isnât an unrealistic expectation
People talk about Tophâs ability to dress up all fancy and fit in perfectly as a sophisticated, model daughter, while also being like âhehe violence, lets go commit crimesâ but no one talks about how Mai is literally exactly the same way, from a political perspective sheâs like the perfect, calm, cultured, girlfriend for Zuko, she can absolutely play the role she needs to, but she also carries knives on her at all times and committed arson with her friends at a beach party for fun
That similarity is also 100% part of the reason that Zuko and Toph get along so well, because once she warms up to him Zuko immediately recognizes her as a kindred spirit. Out of the entire gaang, Toph is the one that Zuko understands and empathizes with the most/vice versa.Â
Everyone else took a really long time to understand Toph because Toph is so different from the main group but Zuko had half a conversation with her and went âoh sheâs Mai but babyâ
