aka: if you’ve gotten hit in droves by these scammers as your only form of engagement, reblog with your account rn if you want to and ill check out your stuff because WOW. it’s disgusting that you’ve put so much work into your stuff only to have it be bombarded with uncaring AI slop comments.
silly rant below (from my ao3 bio) and bad grammar lowk i was just typing stuff:
lowk I know bots won’t see this but if you’re a Discord scam artist, respectfully get off my account.
I’ve genuinely had it with these scam artists; I love to write and it’s my passion and I look forward to seeing genuine engagement— not the ai slop coughing up my own story back to me saying useless things I can’t even use to better my story. Like it’s unfortunate that there are people out there wasting their time trying to scam others on ao3 instead of doing something genuinely productive. Like. Go touch grass or something. Go to a church or something.
It’s happened to me what? Ten different times now? I’ve had to turn of comments on four of my works because of relentless scam comments almost every day. I’ve had comments moderated, and yet they still continue. It’s so annoying and it takes moments off my life when I have to go report these scammers who, for some reason, are wasting the precious moments of their lives trying to scam others.
I hate scams; I understand the job economy is difficult right now but seriously. I’m a minor. What money can I give you and why would I even want your art? I write things that aren’t even my IP. Why do you want to illustrate MY stories so bad— although I’m thankful they’re targeting me, who knows how to deal with this, rather than someone who doesn’t. But wow. It’s disheartening to open my email to see a comment, and instead of reading over it so I can give a dignified response to a REAL PERSON who has spent their time finding some kind of enjoyment in what I write I now just skin to the end to see if it has an ugly Discord username ready for me report it with.
And I don’t care if they’re getting smarter. Whenever I get a comment now, I have to keep looking to see if it’s a scammer. I don’t trust that it’s a real person. I don’t trust that’s someone saying something normal, or kind anymore.
Maybe it’s not that deep; it’s just ao3 or whatever. But it’s disheartening either way since writing is an outlet for enjoyment, isn’t it? And you’re proud of it, so you want to share it with others— not with those disgusting malicious bots.
Do you ship Orpheus x Alice? I personally ship them 👉👈
Aw, thank you for the question! I actually don’t ship them. Apologies if that disappoints. Although I feel like I nearly did when I first started playing the game since I binged all of Ashes of Memory the very first night I downloaded the game and instantly took a liking to Alice.
I was really intrigued and invested in their relationship and so paid extra attention to them. I actually ended up on Ao3 like within the first week or so after getting the game and looked through OrphAlice fanfics but for some reason, none of them clicked with me.
But I do give a ton of props to you Orpheus x Alice shippers because even back then I realized, oh…you guys have it rough. Namely because I saw on Twitter (cause it’s always Twitter smh) of people who shipped them having the need to put in their bio a defense of shipping the two of them because a lot of the community treats them strictly as “siblings.”
I think it got a bit rougher recently with COA VIII and COA IX’s stories furthering that notion…
BUT BUT BUT! I personally believe it’s nonsense to tear people down for the ship. You ship them to your heart’s content (though I have no idea if you have seen or experienced what I just said but if not, good!)
Tbh I’m still surprised I didn’t end up shipping them but blame my good friend, @ficsbyvesper whose magnum opus I found on Ao3 which catapulted me into liking NortAlice (sorry Vesper, all in good fun! Love you).
Ngl though lately I have found myself comparing what it would be like for Alice with Orpheus, Norton, and even Florian (someone else I personally ship with her). She certainly has the…dangerous entourage if so. I have even seen her shipped with Hernando…and Richard only adding to that.
Poor woman has probably the most dangerous and sus harem in IDV *nervous laughter*
But anyways, getting back on track…thank you for the question! Apologies I’m not on the OrphAlice Train but continue to enjoy the ship! I’m actually really new to ships and shipping culture but have found the little joys and happiness found with them. So no matter what anyone says, please continue to enjoy your beloved novelist and journalist!
[Attention] Community Event for Artists, Writers, and Creatives!
A community backed collaboration by the Twitter account, idvfdartcollab is organizing an event to showcase and support each other as creatives in a time when NetEase's use of generative AI has caused backlash within the IDV community.
Anyone who creates content for IDV is encouraged to submit their works in order to promote themselves and find others to support. This is not just limited to fanart. Writers, cosplayers, and other creatives can join in and submit their works.
While it seems like it is easier to gain credit through Twitter, any social media that you have can be used as long as you can easily be contacted through it.
The link to the submission form is as follows: https://t.co/YKBu6pok7k. Be sure to be logged into a Google account before opening the form or you will not be able to access it.
This event runs from June 1st with the end date being indefinite as of right now. All submissions will be posted on the idvfdartcollab Twitter account found here.
I thought about it more and I may actually do this. Since I only really create fanfiction I’m really happy that it’s not just fanart (I originally thought it was 😅)
I think I can submit a fanfic or two. I was wondering if anyone who has read my works have one in particular they think I should send.
This is also an excuse to see what fanfics ppl like of mine. Though if no one answers I think I can figure it out on my own too.
Just a little ramble (edit: it was NOT little, buckle up) but y'know after IDV's recent QnA, it really made me think about how much I appreciate how other gaming companies are more responsive and communicative to their players.
Don't get me wrong. I know big corpos are still money-driven and thus it's probably the main reason they do what they do but at least they spell it out.
Despite not playing it anymore, I still follow Dead by Daylight content (Jason came out today on test servers, a killer the community wanted for TEN years wowee). BHVR (Behaviour) is the company behind DBD and while they have messed up and had their own shortcomings, they usually communicate with the company their mistakes and how they have reflected and will go from there.
Take for example how they had perhaps their worst rift (think battlepass or kinda like the Logic Path for IDV-only people) which dropped late last year. It was absolutely SPURNED and disliked by the community.
This rift was also over 100 days which is quite long compared to the usually 70ish days for one. At least BHVR did respond to that one:
In addition, I still remember the time when they asked the community to help them find a winner of their annual cosmetic contest one year. This was because the one who submitted the cosmetic didn't put down contact info. Also, the character that won was Haddie, a character who rarely got cosmetics or love (I remember the community literally making up Love Haddie day and whatnot to bring more attention to her). Thankfully, the community pulled through and the cosmetic was allowed to be made for the game.
Haddie was also one of my girls when I played DBD so I was immensely happy. Too bad I stopped playing before the cosmetic even came to the game.
And while BHVR isn't perfect. Indeed, they had one of their worst years in 2025 due to messy and buggy servers, balancing decisions that made killer players want to...or straight up quit the game, and more, they've strove since then to be better.
Like, they now hold monthly community streams and actively engage with the community. It's real easy to contact one of the community managers (heck, I follow one on Twitter and she's lovely!) if you have issues or concerns. It's nice because you feel seen AND heard.
To be honest, it's been a rather exciting month for DBD. Next month is DBD's 10th anniversary so it's only up from here for them.
Another game I still do play actively is Overwatch developed by Blizzard/Activision though the ones working on specifically Overwatch tend to refer to themselves as Team 4 or The Overwatch Team.
Anyways, they've also had their fair share of shortcomings over the years. Actually, both DBD and OW are celebrating 10 years this year so congrats to them!
But moving on, the most recent example of this is OW's 10th year anniversary event which is...not great. Recolored base skins for select characters and an in-game anniversary event with challenges that may not appeal to everyone is a couple of the things that have upset a number of players in the community.
Aaron Keller, OW's Game Director and the face of their PR team apparently (no really, every time a mishap occurs, he's at the seen being shoved in front of the cameras for a statement).
Time will tell if they will actually improve further down the line on events like this as it was also said this whole year is serving as a celebration despite the anniversary event being this month.
But the fact that they at least addressed it says a lot.
Another rather recent instance of them listening to the community and making a change based on feedback is when a new character named Anran received backlash over her face being conformed to look like a couple or so other characters making her look generic and further making it seem she was just a character made to shill cosmetics (as the characters she ended up looking like are moneymakers).
This became a thing solely because she was teased months before in her brother's character story trailer where she looked quite different.
Anran in her brother, Wuyang's Trailer
Anran when she first arrived in the game.
So yeah...she looks quite different and the comparisons were brutally honest with one particular meme video hammering this fact in. While most people in the community hoped for a face change, there were some that thought the hate towards Anran's baby cute face was unnecessary.
Anyways, Aaron Keller once again stepped up and actually gave us two videos, one where he discusses hearing the community's thoughts on Anran's change and the second which came some time later talking about how they changed Anran and why they changed certain parts of her.
Some say she looks the same but even to my wee uncultured eyes when it comes to character design and whatnot, I sense the difference just from the posture alone, like Mr. Keller said. Though I do see other differences that are slight but surprisingly do help change her character a bit.
"But she still doesn't look like what she looks like in the video!" True. But many have pointed out that the designers more than likely were trying to align her design with what she looks like in OW's comics more than the video at this point.
On the left is her in OW's official webtoon comic on...WEBTOON (sorry about quality, I couldn't find her up front and center in any panel of the chapters I had access to).
On the right is Anran in her own specific character comic (still OW-official). Personally, she looks more like her in-game design in the webtoon.
If you still need help, some kind soul on Reddit who is actually getting into game character design created an informative visual you can view here.
While these examples aren't as grand as addressing the AI usage, of course. Though Blizzard has discussed AI before in their games.
For Overwatch specifically, Aaron Keller said in an interview he had back in February of this year:
“We don’t want to put AI-generated content out in front of players. That’s just not something that we’re comfortable doing. We want this to feel like a handcrafted universe, and it is a handcrafted universe,” Keller told GameSpot.
“It’s a moving space. I don’t know where player, or society’s perception of this is going to be five years or ten years from now. So it’s not like… I don’t think there is ever going to be a, ‘Hey, here’s a forever policy around it,’ but that’s just where we’re at right now,” he explained.
While the last statement could imply things could change at the very least they addressed it, leaving no room for lack of transparency.
As for Blizzard as a whole (since the company is in charge of other games like World of Warcraft, Diablo, etc.), this is what their president had to say:
"...she wants to enable the company’s development teams to “utilize or explore whatever new technology is out there,” including AI, but only “to the extent that they’re comfortable doing with it what we believe is responsible.”
She added that Blizzard has a “centralized governance team” focused solely on AI, with the directive of trying to determine the role AI “can or should play in our development cycles.”
All quotes are taken from this Gamespot article.
Another example of them actually addressing being accused of AI was this incident from last year in May. Believe them or not, at least they said something.
Regardless how you feel about their answer, it's just...I don't know...nice? Just simply nice to see a company transparent on their stance on AI. Granted, I know Blizzard isn't the best company out there. None really are.
But after reading the recent QnAs these type of questions:
It almost feels insulting to the player base, no?
Still, Western companies like Blizzard and BHVR tend to not only be transparent but are definitely aware of the general community's stance on AI. It's just good company decisions in knowing how to retain players...and their wallets let's be real.
And to be honest, I'm perfectly fine with that as they are a business at the end of the day and us players are just consumers.
On the other hand, NetEase is leaving me utterly exhausted. This whole song and dance could've been finished if they had just released a statement as fast as they are at saying they'll fix Joseph's old cracking back. Like, his Nymph fit isn't even out yet, what do you mean you're already getting questions about it???
But that's the price we pay for playing a game that truly feels like the international community is largely ignored for a country's home and its people. Interestingly, this seems less of a thing with NetEase's Marvel Rivals game but I just assume that is because the game is more universally loved than IDV which is way more popular in Asia where AI is more readily embraced especially in China.
Yet, lately Marvel Rivals is also being accused of Gen-AI more and more. Though NetEase still has said nothing about that even with Marvel Rivals.
While the GenAI usage in Marvel Rivals is a bit less blatant and honestly more vague than IDV (like I'm not so sure about the 2nd one with the gibberish words but the first one with the Christmas tree is a lil sus), I would not be surprised at all if they used it cause...it's NetEase.
A recent incident involving one new character featured in splash art for an in-game event is getting attention and this guy below sums it up:
What's a shame is that his sentiment at the end of the video is what I feel most players feel towards AI and even GenAI in general:
"Genuinely, I don't care, dude. Like they release so much content, cutting a couple corners here and there.
Only if you're a digital artist and you spend tons of hours making this, maybe you're the only person that cares, but someone who's just a consumer of the content.
I just want them to have balanced gameplay, balanced matchmaking with cool characters that they introduce every month with awesome skins."
This definitely applies to IDV players as well. The mention of all that he listed out including the "awesome skins" makes me think of all the MALTESE crossover skins I've seen.
For some reason, seeing Norton's especially makes me feel a little sick, like I've actually grown to dislike seeing it (Lily is weirdly fine though but maybe it's cause I've seen Norton's waaayy more. Go figure. Seeing how popular he is.).
The only thing different about IDV in comparison to Marvel Rivals is that art is generally more appreciated and respected. And while there is a lot to be said about the community at times, I love the fact that there is such a strong backlash towards GenAI in IDV because of how much people adore the art style and artworks we get in this game.
I can't say that for Marvel Rivals and I honestly can't rely on that game's player base to care enough to even want to provide some assistance in the GenAI backlash towards NetEase.
It's a shame because I watched a video just in the last month or so about this one guy who wanted to understand his wife's love for Marvel Rivals as he was shocked she would love such a game giving her gaming history. It was a very sweet and positive video in a gaming space that is usually overly negative but then the end of the video kinda got me. The guy states at the very end that no GenAI was used in the making of the video.
And I could only sit there and wonder if he knows that NetEase, the company behind Marvel Rivals, uses GenAI with shameless great abandon. Probably not because the casual consumer more than likely doesn't know.
Again, the AI use is not as blatant in Marvel Rivals, and even an article from last month about it claims there is no proof the game uses it. Though it does acknowledge NetEase does use AI and has been upfront about it.
Well, this post was way longer than I meant it to be. It was only supposed to be a little ramble on Tumblr but this seems website worthy so I may put it up there when I can.
At the end of the day, I can only helplessly wish Identity V was handled by a more transparent and communicative company. At this point, their AI usage having a lack of acknowledgement just serves to be a form of silent admission.
At the end of the day, it is what it is. That sounds defeatist but I'm still holding on hope I can open the game one of these days, free of mind and without the weight of vague unanswered and unaddressed questions filling up my every brain cell.
I just want to play again and not be regulated to hopping on just for birthdays and story events (may cover the Dreamweaver event since lore...and it's "Orpheus"-centered which is...rare. Like, I just wanna learn more about him, mannn).
The Pope addressing and actually acknowledging the harm AI could do was not in my 2026 Bingo card but golly…I have to say my faith in humanity and religion is restored quite a bit.
I don’t really talk about religion on here much lately at least since I did a series of posts on Christian influences on IDV some tome back but yes, I do identify of Christian.
I don’t have a denomination but I did grow up Catholic. Despite that when they brought in an American Pope I had my doubts considering the absolute state of the country but…huh. Ngl he actually was kinda cooking in his essay (and it’s pretty long. Like 25+ pages long)
Even if you don’t want to read all that (which you should), at least read the following two images:
Understandably, those who 100% despise everything AI may disagree with some takes here since the Pope is evidentially looking at all sides to this in a pragmatic way but also maintaining empathy and compassion for preserving the human condition and lived experience.
It’s a balance of acknowledging that yes, this technique is here to stay for now but don’t let that discourage you from realizing that it has flaws and a danger we can’t overlook even if it provides some good things.
I have yet to read all of it myself but I do want to. Especially given the current state of things with IDV it actually feels nice to receive some higher guidance as I was starting to feel a little lost all over again (granted that’s just me a Christian as I know a lot of people are non-religious).
What to actually do
If you get one of these, the answer is boring and it works every time:
Don't call the number. Don't reply. Don't click links in the email — not even the unsubscribe link. Open a fresh browser tab, type paypal.com yourself, and log into your account. Check your activity. You'll see either nothing, or a tiny incoming payment from a stranger that you can ignore.
Then forward the original email as an attachment to [email protected] and delete it. If you want to go a step further, report the phone number to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov — every report makes it slightly harder for these operations to keep running.
And if you've already called? Don't beat yourself up — these scams are designed by professionals to fool smart people. Hang up, run a malware scan if you installed anything they asked you to install, change your PayPal and bank passwords from a different device, and call your bank's real fraud line (the number on the back of your card) to flag your accounts. Move fast, but you don't need to panic.
from the above linked article. For the UK the email to forward phishing scams to is [email protected], texts can be forwarded on to 7726 (for free!) and as a victim of fraud you can report it here (or here for Scotland)
— If an email recently landed in your inbox with a subject line like "Pending charge of USD 987.90 for account activation. Questions? Call (855) 629-1161" — don't call that number. Don't click anything. And whatever you do, don't panic-dial to "stop the charge."
You're being targeted by one of the cleverest scams going right now, and the reason it works is uncomfortable: the email genuinely came from PayPal.
The trick is in the subject line, not the email
When most people think "phishing email," they picture sketchy senders, broken English, and links to weird domains. This scam is the opposite. The email passes every authenticity check — SPF, DKIM, DMARC, all green. It comes from PayPal's actual mail servers. The fonts are right. The footer is right. The unsubscribe link works. If you forwarded it to a security expert and asked "is this really from PayPal?" they'd have to say yes.
So how is it a scam?
Scammers have figured out that PayPal lets anyone send small amounts of money to anyone else, and that PayPal will dutifully email the recipient a notification. The scammer sends you a payout of, say, one Hungarian forint — about a quarter of a cent. PayPal's system then automatically generates and sends you a real, legitimate, fully-authenticated email confirming the transaction.
Here's the catch: the email's subject line is whatever the scammer typed when they set up the payout. PayPal doesn't sanitize it. So they write something terrifying like "Pending charge of USD 987.90 — call this number with questions" and PayPal's servers cheerfully deliver that subject line straight to your inbox, wrapped in a perfectly legitimate-looking notification.
The actual transaction in the email body is for 1 forint. There is no $987.90 charge. There never was. But by the time most people read carefully enough to notice that, they've already dialed the number. —
I woke this this morning to this comment left on one of my fics
I was half asleep so it took me a bit to realise that this is a scammer.
It seems that scammers have learn from their obvious tells in the past.
Previously, scammers would leave vague comments from guest accounts before asking if you’d like to commission some art from them.
Now, it seems like they are starting to create AO3 accounts and are feeding either fic or tags into an AI to pump out a summary before offering the commission.
Here’s the scammer’s profile. Note the description (which seems to be the same for every account posting these comments) and the recent join date.
I received another comment this evening for the exact same scam, just a different profile.
This is a reminder! These are scams preying on the desire to have your fic illustrated and will not deliver! They will either take your money and run or give you something AI generated and will not accept any refunds!
Remember to block and report these comments so the abuse team can stop these scammers in their tracks!
unironically i think we need to bring back computer labs because APPARENTLY some people WERENT taught basic computer literacy and internet safety in school
things about computers/the internet i think kids should be formally taught in schools because theyre important to know and the amount of soon to be grown adults i know who know NOTHING about any of these is quite frankly almost all of them (and resources to learn if you dont know these things, because its never to late to get better with computers)
how to troubleshoot by yourself when you have a technical problem
what common file types are
some very basics on how to use ""developer tools"" on your computer (because i cant think of a better way to refer to them) like task manager and command prompt (and their mac equivalents, terminal and activity monitor ofc)
how to read and understand a privacy policy and what your personal data is, as well as what it being collected actually means and steps you can take to keep it private
how to understand terms of service
(hey. if you have trouble with reading legalese and worry about being able to understand these policies anyways, here's a site that gives basic summaries of privacy policies and ToS)
what a cookie actually is
internet privacy and your digital footprint!! seriously i dont know why we stopped teaching people that they shouldnt be putting their entire real identity online in a world where your online actions can ruin you irl
basic safety measures like antivirus software (and why you should use it or if the built in one on windows or mac is enough for you) and backing up your computer (also a mac guide)
common keyboard shortcuts (and on mac)
as an additional note: things i think everyone should know on computers and the internet but schools may bit hesitant to teach about for whatever moral/legal standards schools pretend to operate on
vpns and adblockers! (btw for most of these where you can pay for things im purposefully not recommending any specific software but seriously just use ublock origin for an adblocker)
how to not get a virus while pirating something
what a temporary email is and when to use one
red flags that you shouldn't trust a website (and how to quickly check the security of a site)
what javascript on a website does and how to disable it to get around paywalls
ok one last addition! if you want to take it one level higher, i think learning the very basics of at least one programming language is good for people. it makes computers less scary and it makes you feel very cool, and a lot of people get discouraged about it because it seems overly complicated and hard to learn outside a formal classroom setting, so heres some resources for learning the very basics of python (because i consider it the easiest language to learn and knowing one language will make it easier to learn others)
an online compiler so you dont need to download anything or worry about running code directly on your computer if that makes you nervous
a basic video guide to introduce you to python and walk you through beginner steps
a guide to some syntax and commands you should know (this was literally my lifeline in my first CS class)
some performance tasks to give you things to code to practice and assess yourself

Would it be ok to @ you under suspected scammers or would you rather the bots be written down then the list be sent to you after a decent amount recorded?
Hi there anon!
If you @ me on a scammers post, they will most likely delete your comment and or block you, so that's... sadly not the best idea.
The best thing to do is to tell me the name, the type of scam they're running (and if it's a repeat scam what that scam that is), and if they've run past accounts under a different name/paypal name.
helpful scam anon has done a pretty good job of providing information that I can refer back to with names and links, so if it's possible for others to do the same, that would be great too!
Do note: The accounts you see that are leaving comments or asks telling you to DM them with messages like 'I can't message you and I don't know whyyyyy?' are trying to perform the 'I accidentally reported you' scam are most likely to once have belonged to real people.
The accounts belonged to the victims who fell for it.
If a hacked/hijacked account leaves a comment on your post, sends you an ask, or a DM, always remember to report it while also going to their blog (if they have posts they made!) and then report a post as:
something else > unlawful use > phishing
Explain that the account had fallen for the 'i accidentally reported your account' scam, and is now trying to perform the scam on you.
If they are a PayPal donation scammer however, that you can 100% bring to me, similar to what can be found in this post:
💬 0 🔁 9 ❤️ 9 · tw/cw: blood · tautlyeclecticenchanter, sentientlocketsong, and paleanomalysong are all the same scam. tautlyeclecticenchan
but again, it's not a good idea to post me in their comments @'ing me or @kyra45 as the scammer will likely delete the comment and block us both lol.

In regards to accounts that got hijacked or stolen, I sadly can't do much for as there's just so many out there I'm afraid. :( Reporting on those accounts won't really do much or bring awareness.
It's the scam itself that people need to know about to avoid.
In relation to accounts that are being used for crypto, porn, or advertisement type scams, I also cannot do much about those, either.
People should know that someone offering you something that seems too good to be true is a scam, or that a message from a pretty girl telling you that there's 'hot singles in your area click here' is a scam.
It's like getting spam in your email box. Report, block, and call it a day.
If a new scam pops up, you can 100% report it to me, in fact I wholeheartedly encourage that kind of thing, that way I can look into it and make sure the right people know about it too.
In fact, and I'll be honest here with you anon, come here -leans over and whispers- are you reading quietly? Good. :) I'll readmore the rest so it's a surprise. <3
The best thing you, and everyone else who reads this post can do, is to help others. There's no internet rule here on tumblr dot com saying you can't send someone an ask, a comment, or even a DM (if they're open!) to warn them about a scam. I know DNI's exist for people for 'a reason', but like I said in a earlier post: if you saw an old lady getting scammed and you knew you could stop it, and you knew what to show her to save her thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, would you?
Send them @kyra45,'s posts, @ai-art-thieves,'s posts, heck even send them my own posts! None of us care, as long as our posts help people.
Knowledge is power, and kindness? Kindness is free.
It costs nothing to be kind, and helping others by being kind?
:) That's all that matters.
And, honestly...
Helping stop a scam, or helping others become scam aware, is far better than just seeing a scam and sending me a name and then doing nothing because "well they didn't try to scam me, so.. why bother?"'
Sorry for rambling here at the end, but I do thank you for your message and I hope you and everyone reading this understands what I'm trying to covey when I say/make these kinds of posts. <3
Don't just let us 'scam busters' be the one who 'help people' by letting them know something is a scam.
If i can learn to do it from @kyra45, you can start helping others too. 💖
[Long Intro: I came up with this rather unhinged idea almost exactly 3 months ago. Being a Bath and Body Works girlie, I frequent the store a lot and at the time they had a Disney Princess collection. Not sure how the idea sprouted by I started thinking of some of the IDV boys being princesses lol. Particularly, I talked about Florian being equivalent to Rapunzel in a post back in February.
Thanks to COA IX, I find it interesting to explore a Florian who is locked in a world of his own and can is curious about the actual outside world but can't reach it quite by himself. Similar to Rapunzel. They're also blonde, German (the original Rapunzel story is German with the name Rapunzel being German meaning "rampion (a flower), field salad, lamb's lettuce, etc) while Florian is said to have German heritage at least. His name is also really German/Austrian.
Anyways, this came out longer than I thought. May end up doing another part. Expect more Disney IDV boy-princesses in the near future.
Special thanks to @ficsbyvesper for encouraging this nonsense (also tagging to let you know I did it finally!]
Read in full on AO3 here~ (But added a little snippet below)!
In all her time as an investigator of secrets and hidden truths under the mask of being an adventurer of sorts, Alice had never quite stumbled upon a tremendous case such as the one that would entangle her soon enough. This was mainly due to the fact that she had been outcasted as a curse since the beginning of her existence really, but more on that later.
Right now, the vast reaches of this kingdom known as being blessed by the Sun, Alice was fleeing from those who believed she would bring disaster and death to the land. Even she was astounded to realize rumors of her “curse” had reached as far away as this, but it was something she had to contend with on her search for breaking these chains while also hoping to ease her image a little by helping others like her—the ones besmirched by the unfair wheel of fate.
Alice was soon running out of options as she ran through the forest and would’ve possibly met her fate then and there by the ones chasing her. By the looks of the official regalia adorned with sun motifs, she could only guess they were royal guards. Surely, she wasn’t THAT important of a nuisance to be tracked down like an animal by THE palace security.
Okay…perhaps she had allowed herself inside the palace upon hearing about a crown that was said to be a Holy Grail of sorts and would lead one to one’s desire.
While Alice was never that covetous of anything, what had really grabbed her attention about the crown was the fact it was apparently tied to a missing royal—the Queen and King’s baby who had been abducted over two decades ago. The suspect, a young sorceror, and the baby have never been found.
Disappearances and mysterious sorcerors were of great interest to Alice who also had a rather tragic childhood after losing her parents and losing most of her memories to uncontrollable elements that came after the fact.
This baby most likely wasn’t even alive but the sliver of hope was still there in the form of a Lantern Festival held every year on the baby’s birthday (which coincidentally was only days before Alice’s). This always made her wonder if by some slim chance she was the missing royal.
Indeed, that was why she felt a strong interest in slipping into the palace to investigate despite how wild of an inheritance that would be. Her jaunt through the palace was an uneventful one if not captivating as she had never seen such grandeur and…money in her lifetime. It nearly distracted her from accidentally wandering into the crown room.
Naturally, it was guarded. But naturally, Alice was an ace at slipping past them to gaze upon the crown. And naturally, she was caught and fled with it…on reflex.
Why she had snatched the crown was beyond her, but it was almost like love at first sight…except replace love with the sudden instinctive thought that the crown didn’t belong in such a dour palace. The radiant gold inlaid by the crown caught the sun’s rays and had shined a revealing light on Alice that had influenced her decision.
And now she was paying the price for it.
“I will be executed for this,” she huffed to herself as her breath was starting to feel strained from all the running. “I have really done it now. Oh, Alice, what to do now?”
Tripping over a rock and crashing headfirst into a bush before stumbling slightly downhill was apparently the next step of her impromptu plan. She honestly thought she was going to die by some misstep but thankfully, her journey ended when she finally settled on a soft patch of green grass that was part of a medium-sized grassy area that was rather scenic. Some rampions and sunflowers dotted the scenery before her here and there making her oddly feel calm. Pure nature had the effect on some people.
A pond was calmly babbling with tiny life, but it was what was beside that pond that caught Alice’s attention.
A tower, looking as quaint as a cottage on a prairie was nestled amongst all this nature. It was tall but had been hidden by the tall trees of the forest. Speaking of, Alice glanced around and was relieved to realize that this whole area was hidden from view if one didn’t know how to find it…or by chance had stumbled upon it by some act of God.
But this tower…it intrigued her and as she stood up, her investigative senses started to tingle. As she secured the crown which was resting in her little bag attached to her waist, Alice ventured towards the tower.
Despite how tall it was, and it was indeed quite tall, Alice knew it was best to curb her fear and climb forthwith, just in case the palace guards stumbled upon this place.
Steeling her nerves and mumbling to herself that she had overcome even rougher straits than this, Alice successfully made her way up the tower. Her clammy yet steady hands met rough rock upon rock as her reached the top. Luckily, after what felt like an eternity, Alice saw a window—her entrance and hope for some rest.
Unluckily, as she made it to the window and slipped in, Alice lost her footing and tumbled right into the room, knocking herself out cold right in front of the inhabitant of the tower who had been coming over to see what was making all that noise outside the window.
The inhabitant of the hidden tower was a young man with blonde hair that was dyed at its tips with small flames that crackled with curiosity and caution at this new development. He had never in his lifetime been blessed with visitors outside his dear father, much less seen a woman before.
Yet, here was this young blonde lady who was sprawled out on his floor, her little satchel out next to her along with the treasure it had once carried.
First, making sure the lady wasn’t dangerous, the young man approached her with caution, his hair, rather wild and long, trailing on the floor behind him. Normally, he didn’t care for his overly long hair, but as he inspected this lady, he felt oddly self-conscious.
As he knelt beside her and stared at her, a soft ribbit could be heard beside him.
The owner of the voice hopped up to the woman and jumped onto her head to inspect her more closely.
“I don’t think that’s proper etiquette, Quaki. Get off her,” the young man chastised but felt hypocritical when he had the sudden urge to touch her as well.
And he did. Slowly but surely, he gently reached out with slightly trembling fingers and carefully brushed back some hair that had fallen over the woman’s face. His breath caught in his throat instantly. She was really quite pretty but looked as if she had been through a lot to get here. There were cuts on her face and arms along with scratches here and there.
Whatever had happened to her, the young man knew she was hurt and felt his hair bristle with energy.
Quaki the frog knew what the man was thinking and gave a sharp, “Ribbit!”
The young man smiled brightly at the frog. “I know, but she’s hurt and I can fix that. Besides, she’s unconscious.” He frowned suddenly, his brow furrowing. “Oh, I can’t quite alleviate the pain from her fall though…”
The frog knew better to argue and so let the young man do what he had to do. Plus, it was always a little fun to watch the young man’s magic at work. And not only that….
“Sunlight, be my guide,
Let your light be my eye,
Stitching back the threads of time,
And bring back what once was mine.”
The little frog could listen to his friend sing with a voice not necessarily made for singing but it was still surprisingly soothing nevertheless.
The young man watched the young woman carefully as he sang softly and just like clockwork, the scratches and bruises on her slowly disappeared. It felt a little weird for the young man to not only sing for this stranger but wrap a bit of his hair around her like a cocoon but if it was to heal her than so be it.
He felt an odd kinship with the young woman already.
(Note: This was really fun to write. I feel like I tried to make sure Florian didn't feel like a complete child since he is still a grown adult (lol). But yeah, his sense of danger towards Alice was ZERO which would enrage his "father." Call it being either too trusting towards Alice or an overconfidence on his part that he can take her if things go down hill (he has magic hair after all~).
Fun fact: Quaki if from "Quaken" which is the German word for "Ribbit" basically.
Another fun fact: Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies and Rapunzel is one of my favorite Disney princesses. Actually both would be either top 1 or 2 honestly...)
The above image is a historical artifact. Colima dog. It dates back to circa 100 BCE-300 CE. (x)
And, around two thousand years later it was originally shaped with care, painted with love, and adored… someone draws it. Draws it using a new technological device that allows modern people to shape things with care, paint with love, and even move them -on a screen, glowing.
And the said person decides to share it with the world. The whole world adores it.
I love the connection between past and today. We were humans back then, and we are still the same.
Cute dog :)
