hi on this installment of “i have a special interest and am making it your problem” i need to talk about new year’s day
episode 1, 1890, chambers and fogg far from each other, both in mindsets and sitting positions
episode 2, 1903, chambers and fogg behind a closed door, ie. hidden from the audience/each other, closer but divided by the middle of the door
episode 3, 1916, chambers and fogg back sitting but closer to each other this time. this is the first episode where they truly see eye to eye.
chambers admits fogg was right about the immortality, and the two talk about fogg’s journey on the titanic (+ chambers saying he was happy to hear fogg survived said event)
not quite friends yet, but close.
episode 4, 1929, back sitting, further apart </3 BUT. it makes sense.
chambers talks about how he doesn’t want fogg to see him because he fear he’d be terribly disappointed (he’s putting distance emotionally) and fogg says that he’s moving to california (he’s putting distance geographically).
but also there’s warmth between them (with the fire), neither of them are making this move with malicious intent.
episode 5, 1942 (shared on lauren’s instagram)
this is the closest they’ve been. both as people and physically, they’re slightly touching (i’m going insane about this) and unlike ep2, the door is open. there’s significantly less animosity between them and as a result, the door is open. not only to the audience but to each other as a duo.
idk guys i just adore this podcast, these characters and am an english major at heart.
is any of this intentional? i have no idea! is lauren just being evil in the best way? most likely! but even if it wasn’t intentional, i noticed this and had to share.
i’m also looking forward to the episode to see if any of this holds true because everything about ep5 is simply speculation.
