RIP Marjane Satrapi, author of the amazing graphic novels Persepolis about living during the fundamentalist revolution in Iran in the 70ās and 80ās. She also created the animated movie based on the graphic novels, which is where these gifs come from.

Reblogging in honor of Marjane Satrapi, one of THE great graphic novelists. Her comic Persepolis was a crucial text for shaping my belief that comics can deeply explore identity, culture, politics, and history.
Are we having fun yet?
always remember that chell is canonically* a transgender woman
Transition timeline; 99999 days on Aperture Science homebrew Åstradiol
POV you used the phrase "transition timeline" on [tumblr] post about 20-year-old video game models
The way he's holding them here makes me feel conflicted. Like, this scene is terrifying and I can't imagine what's it like to be on a receiving end of it but... just look at it.
- he's holding Zooble in a way so that their parts don't fall out
- he's not squeezing Gangle so that her fragile ribbons don't get tangled
- he's not putting too much pressure on Ragatha so that she doesn't get ripped apart
- he's only holding Pomni and Jax firmly because their bodies are solid and rubbery
And this scene is right after the torture too. You would think he would be more violent, but no. He wanted to hurt them, not break them.
Caine wanted them to listen. And because they never did, he made them feel what he felt when they poked at his biggest fears and insecurities.
I guess what I meant to say is - even when at his worst, there was still something considerate in him. Something resembling the real him and not the angry monster he'd become.

stop making fun of bad people for being fat or having small dicks or being socially awkward or whatever else you seem to think is a fair target. none of that shit has anything to do with why theyre bad. i donāt care if a nazi has a stutter or a terf has thinning hair or whatever. at best youre missing the point, at worst your comments are gonna hurt vulnerable people more than they will ever affect the shitty person youāre mocking. why are you so attached to these bullshit standards anyway?
OP is addressed to the people doing it, but im reblogging for the bystanders: reminder that these people arenāt on your side just because they say bad things about bad people, and disagreeing with them doesnāt mean youāre siding with bad people
There is a second part to bodyshaming that I feel also needs drawing attention to, so I made a slight addition to the picture:
the problem with body shaming isnāt just calling certain traits ugly. The problem is that you associate, or reinforce associations, of morality to these traits.
Making fun of a rich person for being fat isnāt just wrong because you shouldnāt be calling fat people ugly. Itās wrong because itās reinforcing stereotypes about fat people being gluttonous, associating fatness with being exploitative and cruel.
This is coincidentally also why any body positivity movement focusing on broadening the category of ābeautiful/normalā fails because being considered beautiful isnāt the fucking point, itās that you should be treated with dignity regardless of your physical appearance, disability, etc. That these traits are morally neutral.
Thereās a long tradition of associating āuglinessā with evil and weāre not gonna reach any kind of liberation as long as we participate in that.
my goal on my birthday is to get as many "happy birthdays" as possible genuine or not. its ilke trick or treating but for attention instead of candy
every note counts as a "happy birthday" to me by the way
