feeling really bleh about the marvel x mtg ant-man comic cover card

i don't know how to describe the level of disappointment i feel discovering the ant-man chase card is actually Scott and not Hank. i guess i should have researched sooner or gotten into the older comics sooner. blah blah if i were a bigger fan i'd have known better blah. it makes sense, since it's scott's first appearance as ant-man versus hank's first appearance. i just didn't realize that what it was. now i know.

i've been an ant-fam fan, particularly of hank and janet and nadia, for a long time. when i say how many magic cards they had, and i'm counting cameos, i was so pumped. beyond pumped. i've been planning a whole ant-fam binder. they included BILL!!!

seeing that they couldn't properly distinguish between Hank and Scott for the chase card just sucks. all they'd have to do is change "human scientist hero" to "human rogue hero" to match Scott's other cards. Or change the name from "The Astonishing Ant-Man" to "The Man on the Ant Hill" and use the Astonishing Tales cover for Hank.

I really like the Scott card, Scott is a great character, and it's still super cool to see him get a chase card. He also deserves to have it gotten right, though, and not be mixed up with Hank.

maybe i'll just use this as an excuse to make some proxies lol. have the whole first page of my binder be Hank, Jan, Nadia, and a "fixed" Scott. Hmmmm.....

Can we please not do this. The lesson from this is not "so long as your payment can't be traced to you you're fine." The lesson here is that Proton will give the FBI (via the swiss govt or not) whatever info they ask for.

in order to exist they have to comply with local laws, the benefit of proton and signal and other similar platforms is that they straight up do not have the majority of the information they could be subpoenaed for. finances are the exception legally, you still need good opsec

The lesson is that you cannot just find a "privacy focused" email or message app and assume that means you can say whatever you want because no one will ever know it was you.

Email is inherently insecure communication. Proton is a decent company that mostly avoids collecting the kind of data the fed wants. But you are not invisible behind a proxy or a vpn, encryption is not a magic ward, and you need to have at least a basic understanding of opsec before you got doing shit the fed might come looking at you for.

Polls are delightful but I feel like the "polls" response leading the crowd right now is recency bias. For those of you who are newer here, or those who have forgotten the bygone days, consider just how fucking unusable a site would be if you have to scroll for pages to finish reading a post and then scroll for pages up again to reblog it and then scroll for pages down again to continue browsing. Consider how often you would miss the mark and reblog completely the wrong post. Consider the hell of when the same post appears several times on your dash in a row, especially with a few different endings, especially if those endings argue with each other.

Now make it all harder still with post chains indented so far you can't even read them...
