No hate at all to the OP—they seem nice. I just think this is a good example to stem what I preach.

It’s not your writing.

You can have preferences, of course, but you should never feel offended by something you see when it is not your writing. You don’t have to read it. See something you don’t like? Edit it in your mind and continue reading, or close the tab.

We’ve normalized talking too badly too loudly about fanfic writers.

I’ve been posting fanfic since 2016 (Not on this account of course), and it’s never been this bad. Occasionally I’d see a “Why is—” post, but the majority of posts were about how much they appreciated fanfic.

I was never afraid of posting something cringey or bad quality because I knew that people weren’t loud when they were upset with something. I was seven, mind you. My writing was pure and utter shit, and I still never got a hate comment ONCE.

This year, I’ve gotten a handful of them; all personally sent to me. (Not including Ao3 bots)

If you see something that irks you, please do not dedicate an entire public post about it. You’ll only make us want to quit writing.
