AU idea I've had for a while:

Rewind!AU (could probably use a better name)

In her efforts to kill Vaggi, Lute ends up finding a weapon- one that, when fired, will revert whoever it hits to exactly what they were at the date entered into it. Lute enters a random date before Vaggi’s creation (1939), and sets off for the Hotel.

However, she ends up hitting Alastor, and reverting him to who he was in 1939- aka, at the peak of the Radio Demon’s rampage.

And he is much worse.

Back then, he was still new to Hell. He was completely alone- hadn't found Mimsy yet, hadn't met Niffty, or Vox, or Husk. He had nothing to stop him from being the worst version of himself.

He had no nice guy act, didn't act all polite- no, he let people know exactly what he was: a cruel, feral, paranoid cannibal serial killer.

And he was stronger. His partial demon form (the one we see in the fight with Vox) was his natural form, he had an aura of power and terror surrounding him, and the static that always filled whatever area he was in was louder- and, if you listened closely, you could hear the screams.

The Hotel crew was, of course, confused as to what happened, why didn't he remember them, why was he threatening them- and then someone (not sure who yet) asks him what year it is, and he says 1939.

Husk is the only person who truly understands what that means, who they're dealing with.

Once the Hotel figures out what happened, they have varying reactions. Vaggi and Lucifer feel vindicated- look, guys, this is who Alastor really is, underneath the act.

But no- not quite. The Alastor they know is a horrible person, but he's not this bad. Getting used to Hell, having friends allies genuinely made him better. Not a lot better, but better.

He leaves the Hotel- they try to stop him, but he fixes them with a radio-dial-pupiled glare that paralyzes them all with terror like they'd been caught in the gaze of a basilisk, and he leaves.

Also, the flow of time is a bit fucked up, so they really need to find a way to fix this, and maybe even end up having to work with Lute to do it.

I'm still figuring details out, but Valentino 100% goes on the broadcast, maybe Vox too, and I kinda want a third Overlord to get killed as well.

I'll probably reblog this to my Hazbin blog and add more details. I DO plan to write a fic for this, someday, but for now I'll probably just write some little snippets of scenes.

Ooohhh!!!! Okay, this is so much fun, but I'd make it 1933/34 - the HEIGHT of his rampage, cause the thing about Alastor is that he came in and killed the Overlords and overturned everything QUICKLY, so I think by 1939 he'd have already mellowed a bit.

I also think it would be really fun if the reason Lute got Alastor instead of Vaggi is he was trying to get Vaggi out of the line of fire.

Even HUSK may not understand exactly, he came in in the 70s - the one who might best understand is Zestial. Or Rosie.

Ooh, does it rewind him completely? Is he still bound to Rosie now?

Quite possibly MOST of the Overlords go in the broadcast, Maestro, ZeeZee, Prick, Hatchet, the Vees - Rosie is safe because of soul shenanigans, and Zestial was around then and so presumably would still be safe because he was then? But what if he wasn't an Overlord at that time?

Also, as fun as THIS Alastor is - image Lute put in a different time period.

A time when Alastor was a child, teen, 20s, and human! Or a time in the 50s when he was friends with Vox and has no idea who these people are and goes to Vee tower!

This is such a fun idea!

I'm glad you like it! And I do like the idea of making it 1934- I want him completely unused to Hell, struggling with his form- ex. forgetting how tall he is now, getting his antlers (which he hasn't figured out how to shrink down yet) caught in doorways, struggling to walk with his hooves, constantly scratching himself and others with his claws, maybe even dropping his staff while spinning it! And, of course, he is desperately trying to hide it. Also, I imagine he got hit because he was trying to knock Lute off course and ended up pointing the weapon at himself by accident

One headcanon I have, and one of the big reasons that Rewind!Alastor is so powerful, is that the Overlords get power from being viewed a certain way by the public, though how the public needs to view them depends on the Overlord. For Alastor, he gets power from being feared- and in the peak of his days as the Radio Demon, EVERYONE was scared of him. This is also another thing fucking up the timeline- he's operating off the Radio Demon fear level in 1934. Also he is completely rewound, physically and mentally, so his injury and staff are fixed, and Husk and Niffty’s souls don't belong to him and are…no-one really knows what's going on with them.

After he leaves, the Hazbin crew go to alert the Overlords- who have varying reactions. Zestial, who was there during Alastor's rampage, is TERRIFIED. Vox thinks this is another chance to get close to Alastor! (it's not. Alastor is broadcasting his entitled racist rich white ass). Rosie is excited, because her weapon is back at its most powerful!

She ends up tracking him down with the Hotel crew and ordering him to go back, which results in the Hotel crew finding out she owns his soul.

Yeah, I could see most of the Overlords going- Zestial and Rosie are the only ones definitely getting to stay. I could even see Husk having gotten broadcasted at the peak of Alastor’s rampage (based on my headcanons for what he was like as an Overlord) so…well, he better hope Alastor doesn't find out what he was like!

One of the big reasons Alastor got so bad is because he didn't feel safe, and he had literally no-one. There was nothing stopping him from being the worst version of himself, and Hell actively encouraged it. Getting used to Hell and making friends allies mellowed him out quite a bit.

One of the big points of this AU is him slowly bonding with the Hotel crew and maybe a few others, and getting a bit more used to Hell. Charlie is determined to help him feel safe and become his friend, and the other Hazbins are gradually coming around to him. Lucifer is a problem though- he hates Rewind!Alastor even more than Current!, because he's getting even more of Charlie's attention. Lucifer is actively undermining Charlie’s attempts to help him feel safe, barging into his rooms and other stuff I need to come up with.

I also want him bonding with Zestial, because I really like interactions between the two. I headcanon that Alastor is Zestial’s descendant, and Rewind!Alastor doesn't know that yet, which is going to be a revelation. Warming up to Zestial is going to take a LONG time, since he's an Overlord, but he'll get there eventually!

He's still worse than Current!Alastor though- I'm not getting rid of the best part of this AU, we're still going to get to see PLENTY of sadistic Alastor, we're just getting bonding on the side!

I have a bunch more rambles and rants and discussion of plot events for this AU, which I'm probably going to post once every 3 days so I don't overwhelm people with content.

Also, one last thing- I ran into a problem with this AU. See, it was originally going to be “Alastor’s really evil right now, we need to get him back to normal!” but now it's turned into bonding and I've gotten really attached to Rewind!Alastor and his dynamics with everyone and honestly don't think I can bring myself to get rid of him, but I ALSO can't make myself have Current!Alastor be gone forever. I'm trying to figure out a reason for the end result to be two Alastors.
