We need to lay more blame for "Kids don't know how computers work" at the feet of the people responsible: Google.
Google set out about a decade ago to push their (relatively unpopular) chromebooks by supplying them below-cost to schools for students, explicitly marketing them as being easy to restrict to certain activities, and in the offing, kids have now grown up in walled gardens, on glorified tablets that are designed to monetize and restrict every movement to maximize profit for one of the biggest companies in the world.
Tech literacy didn't mysteriously vanish, it was fucking murdered for profit.
Linux is a very good and powerful alternative.
reminder: you cannot Personal Choises your way out of an Intentional Structural Problem
Fun fact! School Chromebooks block Linux. It's not an easy alternative. You are missing the point
please do not look up to me. I am 1 inch tall. I'm down here. if you look up you won't see me

The fancy Redwinged Blackbird with potential bilateral gynandromorphism is still around, here are some more clips from the last couple of days. I have not edited them other than stringing them together for this video. This is how they were recorded. Every time I think it must be a molt, this bird turns around and looks completely like a female. So intriguing. It also has a lot of red on the face.
The male plumage suggests this bird is undergoing its very first molt into the adult male plumage but yeah, birds molt symmetrically. Both sides should be showing the young male plumage, not just one. This is a almost certainly a gynandromorph!!!
Edit: I also just noticed that you can see the right ('male') wing and leg are longer and thicker than the left ('female') side!! Male RWBL are usually a little bigger and heavier than the females so seeing this on the same bird is so cool!!
I mean this might be stupid in its simplicity, but how do you not be an asshole to geese?
You simply leave them alone if they're wild species, and you be chill if they're domestic breeds. If wild, give them a wide berth if you need to go past them. Don't threaten them, don't charge them, don't raise your arms at them (especially don't raise your arms, that is an invitation to a fight). Don't hiss or yell. Don't kick or grab or chase or otherwise make some asshole attempt to assert dominance because the goose didn't immediately flee or submit or whatever.
They are literally just animals. Not monsters, not evil, not demons, not mean. They are amazing parents, they are fiercely protective of their young and their mate. They want to be left alone. They are willing to take on a creature much larger than themselves in order to exercise their right to be left alone, which they wouldn't have to do if people just left them alone in the first place. They do not enjoy this. It's very scary for them and they would prefer not to do that.
Humans are a creature smart enough to understand all of this and act accordingly but man. People really do see a goose and decide it's fine to be a complete dick to an animal and then get mad and call that animal evil and mean for responding in kind.
i miss the city so bad sometimes
i don't trust Google so I went on my county's public transit trip planner and they suggested leaving the night before and waiting at the bus stop from 9:37pm to 5:37am

What's chicken math? I think I heard it somewhere before but I'm not sure what it is?
It's something like this
A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
Additional source and more details below. Absolutely thrilled to say that this is real. And yeah, it's huge.
For all the reasons above AND ALSO because this particular lawsuit is a defamation case
Privacy lawsuits are hard because most privacy laws are super super weak, and there's very rarely a lot of money or enforcement backing privacy laws for...twenty million reasons, really...
But defamation suits? Those have teeth.
(In large part because, at least in some countries and including in the US, defamation laws protect public figures the least - and "public figures" legally includes most if not all politicians, and a hell of a lot of other rich ppl too)
A Munich court ruled Google's AI Overviews are its own words, making it liable for false claims, a decision that, if it holds, could reach e
A German court has ruled that Google can be held directly liable for false claims made by its AI Overviews, a decision that could put a serious legal dent in the whole “the AI made me do it” defense. According to The Next Web, the Regional Court of Munich issued a temporary injunction after Google’s AI Overviews wrongly tied two Munich publishers to scams, subscription traps, and dubious business practices. The court treated those AI-generated summaries as Google’s own statements, not just ordinary search results pointing to third-party pages. That distinction matters. Search engines have traditionally had more protection because they index and link to other people’s content. AI Overviews changes the machinery. Google is not just showing the web anymore. It is summarizing it, rewriting it, and sometimes apparently hallucinating a tiny legal grenade into the results page.

In 2026, the chicest thing a gay actor can do is never explicitly come out as gay but also make it abundantly clear that he is. Coming out is too modern. Staying closeted is too old fashioned. But this method merges contemporary freedom with Old Hollywood glamour and allure, and it weeds out the dumbest people who truly don’t get it. I call it the Pascal Method.
Taylor Swift does this
no she doesn’t
You clearly don't go here or to queer history and signaling, or both, enough to have this conversation and I'm not going to explain it to you. You could have asked questions, you could have done even a modicum of research. You didn't and you made yourself look ignorant. Goodbye.
