The Eurasian wolf (Canis lupus lupus), also known as the common wolf or Middle Russian forest wolf,is a subspecies of grey wolf native to Europe and the forest and steppe zones of the former Soviet Union It was once widespread throughout Eurasia prior to the Middle age.Aside from an extensive paleontological and genetic record,Indo-European languages typically have several words for 'wolf', thus attesting to the animal's abundance and cultural significance. It was held in high regard in Baltic,Celtic, Slavic,Turkish, ancient Greek, Roman, and Thracian cultures, whilst having an ambivalent reputation in early Germanic cultures.

Białowieża

Białowieża Forest is an area that extends to the border between Belarus and the Polish and represents one of the last remnants of ancient forests of Europe that spread throughout the European Plain, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Ural Mountains in Russia and from the Baltic to the Black Sea. The Belarusian part of the rain forest has an area of 1771 km2 of which 876 km2 represents UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the middle of the national park, Kamieniukiju, there are laboratories and zoo where the European bison reintroduced to the park in 1929. Europe's last primeval forest is inscribed on the UNESCO list of world heritage cities due to the extremely rich biosphere that includes animals such as wolves, weasels and martens. Within Bjelovješke forest is inhabited by 800 copies of European bison, which became extinct in Europe, but by 1929, biologists and environmentalists are trying to re revitalization of this kind.

The Canada lynx

The Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis) is a medium-sized cat characterized by its long ear tufts, flared facial ruff, and short, bobbed tail with a completely black tip. It has unusually large paws that act like snowshoes in very deep snow, thick fur and long legs, and its hind legs are longer than its front legs, giving lynx a stooped appearance.

Did you know?

Lynx have excellent eyesight: they can spot a mouse at 250 feet! Also, the black tufts of hair at the tops of their ears serve to enhance their already phenomenal hearing.
