Yfir (Across) Continuing my journey around Iceland, after the first night of wild camping on the edge of Thingvellir National Park, we woke up to the sound of stray sheep's on the hills. We packed up our stuff and climbed across the valley which we had chosen to protect us from strong winds to this amazing view of the lake Sandkluftavatn. Though it was early summer, spring has not yet reached this part of Iceland. Dschungel(Jungle) Navigating through the dense vegetation surrounding these sandstone peaks and sometimes also on top of the peak you could choose to take the steep trail or more adventurous vertical route. Getting a glimpse of the peak we are aiming for as the setting sun penetrates the tree cover. Pinienweg (Avenue of Pines) Two nature lovers heading into the thick vegetation at the bottom of a sandstone peak to setup their tent for tonight. We are in the eastern state of Saxony, Germany and the rejoin is bordering Czech Republic. Called as the Saxon Switzerland on the German side and Bohemian Switzerland on the Czech side, this region is known for the 1000 odd sandstone peaks. Geysa(The Gush) The last stop on our day long tour of the Golden circle brought us to arguably the most famous attraction on this route. Arriving late to destination has its perks, when we arrived here little after 10pm there were only a handful of photographers who also dispersed after a couple of minutes leaving just me and my friend to enjoy the Geysir to ourselves. The sun was already behind the Laugarfjall hill but still throwing up great light that was reflecting of the small pack of clouds hanging in there. The Geysir has a heart of its own, erupting sporadically throwing the warm Vatn high up into the air. Looking upwards at the shooting plume of Vatn, for a moment the clouds and the plume appear one. As the cold started sinking in we called it quits and hit the road driving aimlessly towards north west and looking for a suitable spot for our first wild camping experience in Iceland. The next part of the Icelandic adventure will continue in a few days time.
