Magickal Runes: Algiz

Algiz (or Elhaz) – “Al-jiz” – Literally: “Elk” – Esoteric: Protection, Higher Self

“Fear has its place in every heart. Courage is only a response.”

This rune belongs to Moon, it’s a rune of fate, manifestation. Rune of the essential link or connection with the patterns of divine or archetypal consciousness, such as the Valkyrie, Traveller and so on. Rune of the possible danger of realizing this link when unprepared.

Psi: divinity, higher self, the state of listening

Energy: protective teaching force, the divine plan, Valkyries

Mundane: protection, safety, spirituality

Divinations: Connection with the gods, awakening, higher life, protection; or hidden danger, consumption by divine forces, loss of the divine link, fear.

Governs:

Strengthening of hamingja (personal gravity, ‘luck’) and life force through courageous deeds

Mystical and religious communication with non-human sentient beings

Communication with other worlds, especially Asgard

Protection/defence

Receiving instruction on the magical potential of the runes

Banishing the fear of death

As the mist moves across the landscape, the help you seek suddenly and unexpectedly emerges from the mist. Precisely at the moments when you feel lonely and abandoned, you are sensitive or maybe better said, ready, to receive. Algiz protects the mind from too much tension.

In the opposite way: you feel unprotected, rejected, you think you are on your own, maybe you are even overprotected and are now thrown back on yourself.

Algiz is a rune of grounding and channelling, it connects and helps you to manifest inner powers. It’s shape reminds one of an anchor or a tree growing, reaching to the sky. In it’s shape hides it’s power as well, because it helps you to find archetypical powers and manifest them, to ask for protection when you realize you need it. 

Do be wary though, and ask the spirits that respond about their purpose and to identify themselves. Malignant or mischievous ones will be offended or vague, while the ones that genuinely wish to help you, will do so gladly.

Pisces Moon: inside the sensitive pisces moon is an essence that generates the highest octave of motherly and maternal love, a ledge of the moon that touches the sea, all life, love, and suffering is born and dies here. in the moment that the moon rises, they see their reflection in the night. this is not all suffering but a true portrait of godly poetry

I don’t really know what people generally call this method of sigil making, so I’m just calling it “Letter Shaping” because you’re using the basic shapes from certain letters. This is the most common form of sigil making, and it allows the most creative influence. As you see above the sigils are for nearly the same thing, yet the sigils came out completely different. Not because the purpose was different, but because I approached them both a different creative way, and that’s what I like so much about this method. There’s a lot of freedom and personalization involved.

Oh honey….here, have a thing.

2 parts Cayenne Pepper 1 part Cinnamon 1 part Black Salt (equal parts salt and powdered charcoal) ½ part Black Pepper ½ part Powdered Eggshell

Shake it up, sprinkle it where you don’t want things coming in, pitch it in the corners to weed things out, toss a little on your doorsteps to keep the nasties from coming back.

Bree’s Banishing Powder. There are those who swear by it, including me.

You can add to it a consecrated chalk, powdered. Chalk is what I use to set borders, consecrated in moonlight and charged in sunlight while surrounded with my power stones (Amethyst, peridot, pink and white quartz)

Needle and thread

Witching hour...

When needle and thread, that mends the cloth between my fingers, mends the soul. A patch is meant to hold, fixed by heat, fixed with needle. A decoration covers the damage, not to be hidden but to become a part of the whole. The work goes swift, with quiet chant just under my breath, feels like an old path walked upon. A knot to hold, to hold the good, to stop the fray. 

And a safety pin, for accident which can’t be seen until it’s too late.

Hi! when I go2sleep I feel like someone is choking me and as if I can't breathe. I've searched it up&the symptoms are similar2 sleep paralysis but the spiritual community says that a black spirit is sitting on top me doing it's magic to take over me

Hi there anon :) The sleep paralysis is a natural process in body as our brain checks all functions. Sometimes that fails and results in feeling as if someone is holding us down or choking us. In spirituality it's often associated with demonic creatures called "night-hag" or "night mare". Often also associated with visits from succubi or incubi demons. To avoid feelings like these, it's always suggested to make sure that your bedroon is used only for sleeping. In case of living in one room, make sure your bed is used only for sleeping. Avoiding fat/heavy on stomach meals after 8 pm helps often too. Spiritual wise, you can cleanse and secure your bedroom. Cleanse it by cleaning it thoroughly, sprinkle salt at the doors and windows. If you use stones and crystals, cleanse them and set them close to your bed. Light incense and allow it to spread through your room. Air your room and light a white candle to attract positive energy. If attacks will keep up, regularly, search your whole room. Anything that you don't recognise or remember having/buying/getting, should either be thrown into a flowing water (river) or burned in a fire. Items like these can carry a curse. Consider carrying protective stones or amulets with you, or place one of such in your bed, usually under pillow or mattress. If recently a family member had passed, pay your respect to them. Light a candle or pray, sometimes a spirit doesn't want to leave this world peacefully and sensitive/awakened people can experience problems like yours.I hope this will help. In Vinland Asatro circles the Ægishjálmur is used as a symbol of identification of like minded folk and also as a decorative symbol. When worn as a talisman it extends it's effect of protection, inspiration. The Ægishjálmur symbol is an Icelandic Runic stave formed through the combination of several Algiz /Elhaz runes rotated around a central point, with additional lines inscribed along each rune branch, creating a runic configuration which is meant to inspire awe. Algiz is a rune of protection, repeating it 8 times around a centre serves the purpose of blocking or evading attacks from all directions, both the obvious and the concealed. In essence, it's meant to protect both the body and the mind. Helm of Awe is also known as Helm of Terror or a Helm of Fear, as it was used to create a sense of awe and to capture the gaze of an onlooker to the extent of distracting their vision, which is why it was worn on shields and the central line of a helmet, so that it could be seen. Hi there, I have been trying to find a curse-friendly spell blog for a while. If you are not, I am sorry I am mistaken. I need a curse (or a few) for a group of men, two brothers and two friends. One to drive them all apart, and one to destroy their talents, like stopping up their creativity or giving them crippling self doubt. They've taken something they don't deserve and are set to profit from it and I can't let that happen. Thank you in advance, if you are able to help me.

Hi Anon. Have you tried to solve things peacefully and/or legally first? I ask this because in anger people often forget this.

I am curse friendly, but I do have to warn: curses work two ways. What you send to them, will also affect you, maybe even in more ways than them, because you willingly create the negative energy in the Universe. So unless you are prepared to face this, I strongly advice against casting curse.

No idea if you do work with Gods and Goddesses, but if you do, I’d say invoke the ones which have to do revenge, creativity or talents, camaraderie (most war or wine/feast gods). Cast a spell you wrote (remember to end it with proper “so mote it be” x3 ) over sharp objects like knives or scissors or anything that can be used to cut. To drive them apart, visualise the ties that keep them together and using the objects, see yourself cutting those ties, separating the people. 

As for loss of their talents: Visualise as the sharp objects cut away what you desire to be takes from the people, and make sure to visualise the “lost”  things disappear. In case of profits, specially if it comes to money it’s easily visualised for example as bills ;) talents or emotions are very hard to create, but you can try to visualise those as a result of loss of their profits mayhaps?

Hello Fourminutestomidnight, I have been studying and researching Wicca for awhile and think it is right for me by what I know so far but I'd like to know if you have to have a god and goddess to believe in because I believe that the earth and nature have a mind or it's own, kind of like Mother Nature in a way. I was wondering if you knew anything about what I should do for this situation or any recommendations for me

Hello anon :)

In Pagan religions the opinions are very, very different about this. Wicca on it’s own is about duotheism, meaning a pair of deities, usually a male and female. This stems from the belief that both energies, male and female, are needed to create life in all its forms. If you are Wiccan and in coven, then you should talk this over with priests.  Eclectic wiccans often use their own chosen gods.

In shamanism, there are actually not really gods, only spirits and more powerful spirits. Those are often without gender, but they carry a power of what they are (think of Strength, Disease etc). Even in Druidry, there are monotheistic or polytheistic druids.

So in the end, it’s always up to you, what you choose.

I myself have one main Goddess, Bastet. But when I do a ritual where I need or want a different god or goddess, I will call for their help just as well. I will give them offering. I do not limit myself to one god or goddess, because I believe in all of them. And all of them have their specific purposes.
