What feels like hundreds of years later I'm back to yap about Grimm
Most of my yaps have been to my friend and moot @atombombaby and I got off on the tangent of the Juliette/Eve plot line.
Contains spoilers if you haven't finished the show.
And how I think it is a brilliant allegory of the "woman who changes herself for the man, losing who she was originally"
The plot is that Nick kills Adalind's spirit, Adalind turns herself into Juliette and has sex with Nick, killing Nick's Grimm abilities. In order to get Nick's Grimm back, Juliette has to turn herself into Adalind and have sex with Nick.
At this point we have the woman literally changing herself to fix the man
The consequences of the potion to change into Adalind made Juliette turn into a Hexenbeist, something that was unprecedented.
The woman has permanently altered herself for the man.
Nick can't stomach the idea of Juliette as a Hexenbeist.
The man doesn't like what the woman has become.
Juliette is then "killed" and kidnapped by Hadrian's Wall, who expirement on her and wipe her memories, turning her into a tool to use against Nick.
HW in this allegory represent the "writers", the writers take the woman and erase the person she used to be, molding her into whatever they need to make the story work, completely ignoring every bit of what made her who she was, turning her into a completely different character.
I don't know if the writers did this on purpose, I wouldn't think so, but looking at it, it's absolutely perfect. I hate it but I love it. I hate it, because a woman is permanently changed to further the man's story. But I love it, because it's done in a way that feels like it's done for the purpose of making the statement about how women, especially the love interest, are treated.
I just think the show has moments of being beautifully written, and then it turns around and "Hey that war that's been building to be a major plot line for the last season and a half? It's over, what are you doing?"
They CHANGED her for a MAN who didnāt like what she BECAME. He couldnāt even look at her. She SCARED him.
And then she dies. But doesnāt die. She keeps getting changed until sheās an entirely different character. Is Juliette even still in there? Kind of? I donāt know.
I miss Juliette sm.
To top it all off, Nick ends up with a Hexenbiest anyways so. Damn.

Woke up thinking about one of my mutualās OCs. Shout out @fourteendaysinaweek and her Ruby.
Trubel wasnāt entirely sure if she was hungover or still drunk. All she knew was that she felt like shit, and it was way too early to be awake.
The morning sun glared through the diner windows, illuminating one of the waitresses with some sort of halo effect. The light shining off of her dark reddish, brownish hair.
But that wasnāt important.
The diner that Trubel had picked a corner booth in and sat was the closest place with free WiFi to bum off of. Her shitty dell laptop connected as soon as it woke up, set to automatically connect and all.
She stared at the screen, curser staring back at her while she warmed her hands on a mug of mediocre diner coffee.
However long she sat was a mystery to her. Trubel never noticed the other customers coming and going.
Her attention drifted back and forth to the diner waitress. The one that always found herself perfectly highlighted by the natural light flooding from the windows.
Her name was Ruby. It was there right across her name tag. Trubel never really spoke to her, but she was nice enough. Always offered to refill her coffee when it cooled off.
Trubel pulled her attention back down to the notebook in front of her, awkwardly sitting halfway on the keyboard of her laptop.
It was the first time she had actually looked at what she started drawing.
A detailed sketch of Ruby, leaned over to take some menus from an older couple, with shading that somehow conveyed the halo that followed the young woman in the early morning light.
It wasnāt the first, either.
āSo are you gonna buy me lunch, or just keep staring?ā
Trubel slammed her laptop shut, pulled the notebook close to her chest and backed up against the corner of the booth.
Ruby looked down at her with an eyebrow raised. She seemed amused enough, head tilted and a light smirk.
āI uh-ā Trubel couldnāt gather her thoughts enough to stumble through a coherent response.
The light from the windows didnāt reach all the way into the back of the diner. The halo effect around Rubyās hair disappeared.
She stepped into some sort of reality that Trubel existed in. In some way. Pulling Trubel towards her, letting her feel like she saw her. Actually saw her.
Man writing when you have an accent and a dialect different from the characters you're writing is so hard. Why is my New York Native character saying "Holler" (verb, means the same as yell or shout) what do you mean other parts of the US don't say "who all is coming" they say "who is coming" huh???

To anybody who is new to posting on ao3, if youāre using a tag you have to use the correct spelling of that tag. People arenāt going to type in every version of a censored word to hide or look for your content ļæ¼

I have the most beautiful news which is - When my eldest niece was a toddler, we all - Me, two of my biker friends, and four generations of my family - went to see the fireworks at the beach, and she got cold and sleepy so I wrapped her up in my leather jacket and denim kut covered in patches from bike rallies and sat her on my bike so she could warm herself up on the still-hot engine, where she fell asleep.
Her Mam took a photo, and I jokingly said "One day, if she's gay, she'll be able to impress girls with that picture."
Anyway, today she texted me and said that a girl she likes was really impressed with the photo of her as a baby hanging out with the bikers.
