Albion Finch - The underrated male character!

You know what? I do not make the rules.

The best -non toxic- husband is...Albion -sneezing, cheese lover- Finch!

And Phillipa got the best match! You can't convince me otherwise. He is a supportive husband, a supportive brother-in-law, a supportive son-in-law and a loving person in general.

And at the ending scene where Albion was sleep deprived and was practically falling asleep on the sofa...it only shows he is an active parent who stays up at night supporting his wife as they both take care of their newborn baby.

And Phillipa having such dreams for her little girl. And naming her with a "P" and not caring for her not being a boy or finding a husband. And you could see she was happy and excited to have a baby during her pregnancy not bothering about the baby race at all. And Albion has been so supportive of her. In every step. And so sweet. And honest. And caring. And loving.

Forget the Bridgertons. We all need an Albion Finch in our lives!

The way that the criticism she wrote about him at the beginning of the season and finding out she was Whistledown had the same effect on Colin as when Penelope heard him talking behind her back at the end of last season had on her. Like it’s one thing for a friend to think a certain way about you, but it’s another thing entirely to hear them telling other people about it like that. All of the confidence, comfort, and security that they found in their relationship has been shot. The entire tone of their friendship and their view of the all of the interactions that they’ve had has been shifted. They’re both left wondering “were they really my friend or were they just pretending to make fun of me behind my back this whole time?”

At its root their conflict is a friendship break up of sorts. It’s that moment where you find out your best friend has been talking trash about you and you see them differently because they were your safe space, and you’re mad but you’re also in mourning for what you had and now you have to decide if your friendship is salvageable. It’s a test that a lot of best friendships face, especially the long term ones, and it’s only made more intense and crucial by the fact that they also have romantic love between them. Now they have to choose to work to rebuild it and the beauty of that is that if they do it right their bond will be stronger than ever

The parallel between these two scenes is heart breaking to me but oh so so loud in their meaning.

In the first one we have Colin fully dressed waiting patiently fuming as Penelope is not dressed yet. She’s vulnerable and he has his shield up. He has the upper hand. He leaves her. She stays behind hurt.

In the second one the roles are reversed. She’s fully dressed, ready for the day. He’s in what looks like his yesterday’s clothes. She is in action while he’s paralysed and not moving. She leaves him this time around.

But really it’s more than that. It’s the fact that by the second scene she is on her way to become her fully actualised self. She’s more self assured, less scared. She is moving ahead, physically and figuratively. He’s still rooted in one place, in his anger, his hurt and his trauma.

These two scenes mirror each other, but they’re also so different in the relationship dynamic. The first one is anger and hurt and Colin sees LW. The second one is a crossroad. Colin either stays rooted in place and looses Pen or he moves and have to come to the acceptance that the person he vowed to destroy is in fact the person he vowed to protect and there is no separation between the two.
