There are a few things that can cause staining of your teeth. The best way to prevent tooth staining is to avoid the things that cause it.🤷🏾‍♀️ But I know, that's not practical. So, I usually advise using a straw 🥤or rinsing your mouth after. Many of you separate your mouth from the rest of the body despite the important role its plays. You invest so much on the rest of the body and your mouth is the last thing on your mind, if it even crosses your mind. You change your diet, go to the gym, take your vitamins and so forth. Yet all your mouth needs is brushing twice a day for 2 mins and flossing for 1 min...that's 6 mins of your 24hr day. A visit 6 monthly to your dental hygienist and dentist. Nothing much really but it turns out to be the hardest! But remember, you can look after the rest of body and invest a lot but if your mouth is unhealthy then the rest of your body is also unhealthy. Part of my job description as a dental Hygienist is to educate and help patients to prevent disease in the mouth. During this process we clean patients' teeth and gums; treat or maintain any disease that has already begun.😇 However, somewhere along the line many patients have developed a fear of the dental hygienist. We have become the most feared and disliked dental personal, yes even more than the dentists. 😩 When did that happen? Why did it happen? We have gone from protectors to a Freddy Krueger nightmare situation.🤔 It breaks my heart when patients walks in for the first time and all I see is the fear in their eyes; the sweat on their brow; hands shaking. Some even cry at the sight of me.They dont even know me and yet they fear me that much.😔 It takes a lot of smiling and empathy to convince some patients to sit down and for me to prove to them that I am actually a very gentle and lovely hygienist. Yes, they are happy with me and want to stick with me after, I even have patients hunt me down and follow me from previous practices.😊 But still, the first contact we had will always be a fearful one. What is going on out there?
