Very cool, love to see this in an official communication
Same exact playbook, down to the "but it was based on a lie."
It's kind of amazing how much this is the identical strategy. Focusing on the distress and harm of parents over the trans or autistic person themselves. Pathologizing the condition treating it as an epidemic, including calling it a social contagion causing a worrying "explosion" of diagnosis because it is "trendy."
Ignoring the experts on the subject while also appealing to "common sense" and dismissing all research that contradicts them while also appealing to "basic science."
Plus it's all the same quacks and actors behind previous medical and social moral panics saying them same things in the same ways and no one seems to acknowledge that.
she says in the article that she was inspired to think this way about autism after she started reporting on detransitioners. Her Twitter mentions are filled with prominent voices in the detrans terf movement. This isn't just similar, It is quite self-consciously an extension of the same movement.
She is also an advocate in favor of the Trouble Teen Industry, working with known eugenicist (and guy who talks a little too much about age of consent laws) Richard Hanania
I know this is meant to be funny but it actually makes such a good point about how ADHD and executive dysfunction can impact people in really major ways, including financially
Just something that's helped me: I call this "the ADHD tax" and I don't beat myself up for it. Looking at it that way, I find it easier to hold myself to more realistic standards.
For instance: yes, it's much more cost effective to buy a whole onion and chop it myself, but I pay less "ADHD tax" by buying the cup of diced onions. Because when I'm struggling, chopping vegetables is a hell of executive dysfunction, so I can pay a dollar or two of ADHD tax every week to have someone else do it, or I can pay significantly more ADHD tax for food delivery and wasted ingredients when I eventually, inevitably have a week I can't chop the onion.
It's an acceptance both that paying some ADHD tax is unavoidable, and then thinking about it in guilt-free terms like tax liability. Then when I get hit with a big "tax bill," I don't start thinking "why am I so bad at life?" and making unrealistic plans like "tomorrow I'm going to wake up and be a totally different person than I have ever been in my entire life." Instead, I think "what tricks could reduce my tax liability next time?" Sometimes, it's skills like habit stacking, but often it's paying a little ADHD tax up front to avoid a potential big penalty later.
