Be like the earth. When the rain comes, the earth simply opens up to the rain and soaks it all in.

You’ll meet her, she’s very pretty, even though sometimes she’s sad for many days at a time. You’ll see, when she smiles, you’ll love her.

"Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray." -Rumi
It’s all about the light. I slept in my truck while traveling through Oregon and Washington for a week. Usually I absolutely hate waking up early, but doing that really allowed me to put myself in the right places at the right times. There really is nothing like waking up to views like these every morning.

Everyone should have a secret spot
The gravitational field is not diffused through space; the gravitational field is that space itself. An entity that undulates, flexes, curves, twists. We are immersed in a gigantic flexible snail-shell. A colourful and amazing world where the unbounded extensions of interstellar space ripple and sway like the surface of the sea.
Carlo Rovelli
I am changing this bass drum head for the first time and I am feeling a little sentimental about it. My dad picked me up on the last day of my freshman year of high school and told me we were going to go pick out a drum kit. He knew I’d been wanting to play for years and he had been secretly saving up. I can’t begin to express the excitement I still feel thinking about that moment. My dad didn’t just give me a drum kit that day. He gave me music. He gave me an entire world that I wouldn’t have known without it. A world of joy and frustration and discipline and seedy bars and packing up vans and spending entirely too much money at music stores. Almost every friend I’ve had that matters I’ve made through our mutual love of playing music. Thanks dad. I am so very grateful.
By all means break the rules, and break them beautifully, deliberately and well.

I’ll read my books and I’ll drink coffee and I’ll listen to music, and I’ll bolt the door.
