Basic summary of a fic I'm writing

Trans dude polar bear shapeshifter sort of royalty fights in war and kills someone: "eh just another normal day"

Trans man who doesn't know that he's trans yet moose shapeshifter: "I am weak my entire family is stronger than me I am but a simple lowly fawn but my brother has died to a monster and so I must take revenge for my honor because our kingdom has surrendered"

Polar bear: "The fuck?"

Moose: "I know I am weak but I promise on all the lives in the universe that I will kill you"

Polar bear: "....the fuck??? weak???"

Moose: "I am but a simple fawn, I am prey, my form eats plants, my human form is awful and bad and wrong and weak"

Polar bear: "You need a therapist, I'm leaving"

THREE HOURS LATER

Moose: "I HAVE FOUND YOU AGAIN-"

Polar bear: "Okay 'weak' my ass you're clearly in need of serious help, let's go back to my home and you can actually eat something"

It’s finally happened.

After almost a decade on this site, I found another Tumblr user in the wild. I stopped to tie my shoe with rainbow laces this morning outside the silversmith at Colonial Williamsburg, and I heard it.

“I like your shoelaces.”

Oh. Oh no.

I responded the only way I could. “Thanks.” And then I reluctantly added, “I stole them from the president…and if that makes sense to you, I’m very sorry.”

The poor man, in full Colonial dress, stared at me for a long moment. And then burst into laughter. And said, “I haven’t thought about that in YEARS and this has never happened to me before.”

Yeah. Me neither. Not until today.
