Relevant XKCD: https://xkcd.com/2609/
theres ALWAYS a relevant XKCD for everything huh
when i was a teenager i used to catch myself thinking "i'm really glad i'm alive right now because of all the cool personal technologies that exist" and when i did i'd think it through and reckon that well, its not like teenagers in the 70s and 80s knew they didnt have ipods or facebook or whatever. they were also happy with the tech they had. and i'd reason that in the future there would be more fun technologies that i dont know i'm missing out on right now and the future will be an even cooler time to exist
anyway i was dead fucking wrong about that last part. i hate personal technologies now. i miss having an ipod that doesnt advertise shit to me and i miss when my htc wildfire didnt harass me 45 times a day to install an ai assistant and then install it anyway when i say no and i miss when the internet wasnt 5 websites all of which i have to log into and i miss when i didnt need an app to talk to my landlord. sorry past me you were actually right about 2009
aren't you almost 30? it is weird when people over 30 watch shows aimed at teens and 20-somethings. but you even said you stopped watching it, so it's fine :).
ohmygod please don't be one of those people who thinks when you're thirty you're suddenly 'old' and can't enjoy things that give you nostalgia because 'they're for teens!'. guess what, a switch doesn't flip when you hit a certain number that means you stop enjoying things you did before. this attitude will only make yourself miserable
this is hilarious
i'm in my 50s and i will do whatever i want. i will consume media for kids, for teens, for adults. i will listen to songs i like whether they were released in 1980 or 2022. i will jump in puddles and balance along walls and swing at the park. i will work hard and write complex python code and do my taxes. i will wear pink and black and glitter and well ironed slacks and cardigans and sequinned doc martens and dungarees with dinosaur print. i will eat icecream for breakfast and steamed vegetables for lunch and nap in the afternoon and watch let's play videos on youtube at night. i will peform regular maintenance on my car and pay my bills and go to the dentist and listen to music really loud when i'm driving and tell myself fairytales before i go to sleep.
please, for the love of god or yourself or the universe, don't give yourself ridiculous limits and make your life any more grey than it has to be in this world.
every day it just concerns me how little compassion people have. no compassion for those living in the global south. no compassion for immigrants. no compassion for disabled ppl. no compassion for addicts. no compassion for prisoners. no compassion for children. like holy shit ...
i made a separate post about this but actually there are plenty of people cough white people who care about animals more than they ever do human people . not what i'm talking about make your own post

"I asked ChatGPT--"
Yeah well, I asked the wasps nest in my attic. It sang its answer so beautifully to me, but I am so very afraid of it. Perhaps it will soothe my itching soul...

The Old Shepherds Chief Mourner, c.1837 by Edwin Landseer (English, 1802--1873)
Literally always take headphones with you. If you decide that you probably won't need them today, that's the devil talking. You will. You will
