I feel like some very important context is that I do have the normal nsfw/suggestive tags filtered (some variants too, at least 8 separate tags)

and I have had them filtered basically since I started posting anywhere on this app

(I now have added the more specific tags too, and big big thank you for reaching out, it genuinely did help a lot)

sending kindness to the nsfw community, it might not be a place for me, but I know that it is a safe space for many others

You can't possibly be expected to know every nsfw tag going in every fandom you're part of. I didn't know if you even knew how to use filters at all, and I just wanted to let you know the most commonly used nsfw tags in that fandom so you could use them in filters to feel comfortable in your own dash again ASAP

I gave the nsfw end of the fandom a little come to jesus talk because it looked to me like they were not handing their end of things as responsibly as they should have been (like using more basic nsfw tags!). One of them admitted to not being discreet enough and promised to do better, and some others shared the conversation around to raise awareness. So hopefully the situation won't be repeated anytime soon!

This is why most nsfw posters regularly check who is posting in their tags and pre-emptively block any minors and ageless blogs

The posters in the above image do not explicitly list themselves as minors, but they likely are, and they have excellent reasons for preferring not to advertise that fact in a public online forum

And even if they are not minors, they are uncomfortable with the content, and that is enough reason why they shouldn't have to see it

I have contacted them and advised them to filter the 'knight kink' and 'knight nsft' tags, and to block anyone who is posting nsfw content without using those tags

Smutty posters PLEASE tag responsibly, and PLEASE block literally anyone who wanders into your feed if they are not explicitly listing themselves as 18+, no matter how cool their knightly content is. Follow their cool knightly content with a sfw alt instead.

By doing this you will protect the continued existence of your own community by keeping it out of trouble, as well as protecting those who have not consented to be a part of it

Hey @a-knight-that-bites and @mxshrimp I'm so sorry you got exposed to unwanted nsfw stuff, that is very crappy

First off I would recommend adding the 'knight kink' and 'knight nsft' tags to your filters, that should keep most of the unwanted content off your dash

Then I would add, be not afraid to use the block button liberally

It is not mean or judgy to block someone, you are not bullying anyone or excluding them or causing a scene or 'starting something'. You are literally just making smart decisions about what you do and don't want to appear on your dash.

Blocking a user simply because you would prefer not to see some of the content they are posting, for any reason, is always 1000% okay.

I am arachnophobic so I immediately block anyone who posts anything about spiders because do not want. Those posters aren't bad people! I want them to live their best lives and find spider loving friends so they can all geek out about how great spiders are together! I'm so glad that there are people in the world who love spiders enough to make up for how bad I have to scream when I see one! I'm grateful to them for existing and I absolutely do not want their hobby on my dash.

Anyone who is old enough to be posting nsfw stuff should also be mature enough to understand that some users are going to block them just to keep the nsfw stuff off their feeds. They will not feel offended if they should somehow ever realise you've blocked them (but they almost certainly will just never realise you've blocked them).

I don’t know if this is an obvious take or a hot take, but I think people need to start re-framing feminism as the fight for body autonomy as opposed to whatever this second wave revival gender essentialist bullshit we have going on right now. Once you reframe it in this way, it’s easier to understand intersectionality and why cis women are not the only people who need feminism. The lack of body autonomy effects cis women, trans people, intersex people, disabled people, poc, homeless people, sex workers, etc. and your feminism needs to include and prioritise all of these groups of people (which will include men btw) because feminism is about autonomy, not about establishing a matriarchy. Body autonomy is the biggest threat to the patriarchy, both with reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and even the right to not be drafted into military services. Once body autonomy is established for everyone, the patriarchy no longer has a leg to stand on.

And body autonomy does include things that you don’t personally like either. I was prompted to write this post after a series of bad takes from progressives, but one of them was re-hashing the Sabrina Carpenter album cover drama with “I don’t think it’s conservative of me to think that the album cover is a bad look when we’ve seen images of women being abused in this way” because I do actually think you’ve failed to understand feminism by projecting your morals onto a woman who was consensually expressing her own autonomy just because she expressed it in a way that you didn’t like or that made you uncomfortable.

Body autonomy also means unhealthy choices. Body autonomy also means regret rates. Body autonomy also means freedom of sexuality. Body autonomy also means mutilation. If you believe body autonomy has limitations and exceptions, then your feminism is most likely surface level.

TERFs are some of the biggest opponents to body autonomy, and if you find yourself thinking “oh people can do whatever they want with their bodies as long as it doesn’t harm them or make others uncomfortable” then you are far more susceptible to TERF propaganda than you think.

Last time I’m gonna add to this because I don’t want this post to take up space on the trans joy blog, but I wanted to say I knew it was a risk to use the word “mutilation” because I forgot that TERFs are dumb as shit and will take it at face value and think it means I’m admitting that what trans people are doing to their bodies is mutilation, as opposed to using their terminology to point out how even if something is objectively mutilation (which it isn’t because we all know they’re just referring to consensual, routine surgeries undergone by adult trans people), it’s still none of their business.

What counts as mutilation is purely subjective, and based on someone’s own discomfort, and should have absolutely no tangible impact on what someone else can choose to do with their body.

“It’s not anti-feminist to not want people to mutilate themselves” it literally is, because you’re drawing your own line on what counts as mutilation based on personal preferences and taking away the control and autonomy of someone you do not know in order to play saviour and “protect” them.

And if you can’t hear how you sound exactly like the fucking patriarchy, then I can’t help you.

Edit: it goes without saying that they do not care about non-consensual surgery performed on intersex infants, and in fact enourage it through their rigid adherence to the sex binary, they literally just want to stop adults from having control over their bodies. It’s really interesting to me to see all the different reads of the ‘we didn’t even kiss’ scene, because I interpreted it quite differently.

I didn’t see it as Shane being upset or angry with Ilya or him being traumatised by the lack of affection (I’ve genuinely seen this take.) - I saw it as Shane being upset/angry with himself for wanting more. He types out the text, deletes it, and then says ‘fuck’- because he’s started to realise he wants more, whatever ‘more’ is, and cannot have it.

At this point in the narrative, Shane is still in denial about his feelings, still not putting a name to them. The feelings are there- he just can’t articulate them. For me, it perfectly compliments the scene where Ilya is staring himself down in the mirror during the Rose Landry shit- Ilya is angry at himself, not Shane.

Neither one of them thinks they could have more with the other, because it’s an impossible situation- it doesn’t stop them wanting.

It’s crucial as well to note that neither of them really blames the other- that’s why each time there’s a setback, they’re incredibly quick to forgive. They both understand what the situation is.

I feel like saying Shane was led on or taken advantage of completely strips him of his agency. They both take what they can get of the other, whenever they can get it, because it’s a comfort to both of them.

Shane is never put in a situation he doesn’t want to be in, with Ilya. He’s a grown man who can make informed choices, he’s not some starry eyed groupie trailing after Ilya for scraps, and Ilya never once manipulated him.

Lately I've been thinking more and more about letting my hair get long, which has been something I've largely avoided for the past several years. My hair felt like it was not my own when it was long. My long hair belonged to a girl that I never was.

But these days, as my hair grows to kiss my shoulders, I find great comfort in it. As my shaggy haircut grows out, I am left with longer and longer layers that I am, once again, able to braid -- and oh, how I adore braids in my hair.

I braid my hair with my eyes closed and my breath soft. I think of love. I think of kinship. I think of trees, and rivers, and the sun above me. I weave together the strands of my hair with a silent prayer of devotion to myself and the world I live in.

Braids give me the biggest swell of euphoria in my chest. Braids make me feel so masculine and androgynous and feminine at the same time. They make me feel strong. They make me feel tender. They make me feel like myself.

I want to let that feeling grow. So, it seems my hair shall grow with it.
