I think they have so much more to worry about, in terms of dynamic being weird and wonky but that's the flavour of it and with all honesty.

bsd is ripe with what could be qualitied as all sorts of maladaptive coping mechanisms that manifest/are interpreted as romantic atraction. There's only so much suffering loneliness and misfortune that you can endure before starting to try and replace it witg clinging to anything that's warmer than bathroom tile in winter.

While I don't particularly think it was the case of dating with Odazai and I do belive that Oda would not jump to dating by himself, as he was quite wary and unwilling to thinly veiled pit of loneliness and misery that was Dazai. I belive he was troubled enough by himself to be avaliable to being persuaded into it.

Ok, onto my interpretations of Viktor Nikiforov and why I don't buy his uwu personality and how it tracks with Pl0v. Read tags, do yourself a favour

I deadass think he hit that mid life crisis early as he is a professional athlete in a field with performance expectancy as long as middle ages peasant life. IE not long so him not even being 30 plays well into that

not to mention that he admits that jumping higher than his head every time is exhausting and took all there was in him.

On his personality: really think his sweet exterior is 20 thousand layers of curated media training. I know that it is magical world were homophobia is not as present but it's a hard sell. It is russia in 2010s, which admittedly was not as bad but nowhere near as accepting when he was a rising star. But here comes at play other local specialty, you can be enough of the state pride to be forgiven many things. Such as being flamboyantly queer on national tv

And yet acting against the grain would be weighting on psychie imo. Being perceived as both immoral rule breaker and one to be above it. The issue is "above it" part. My vision is that living on this edge and overabundance of available options leads to dark places unless you have internal compass and normal feedback. That's where the Yuriy comes into this, he is bright and very motivated which is very nostalgic for Viktor. So he keeps it up, tangling the connection more, because it's both fun and he has access. I honestly dk what exactly goes down the year that Yuriy graduates into higher echelon and adult division but my guess would be something either physical or close enough to it.
