Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf
Ozempic scares the shit out of me. You're telling me there's a drug that takes away both the craving side of hunger and targets the brain's rewards center for eating. You're telling me it takes the joy out of eating and it turns you into a skeleton. Why did we turn The Curse of the Black Pearl into a drug. What the fuck.
I actually want to thank the diabetics coming on this post like "actually it genuinely is a great treatment for diabetes and it hasn't affected my mood or my enjoyment of food. The real issue is it's getting abused as a weight loss drug which also makes it scarce and more expensive for those who can genuinely benefit from it." Kind of reminds me of the time my brother got permission from our family psychiatrist to try my ADHD medication and his reaction to it was "what the fuck are you on. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ON. WHY DO I FEEL LIKE CRYING. YOU'RE ON THIS EVERY DAY!?!"
Body chemistry! It makes a big difference in how your body processes a drug! What can be genuinely helpful for some folks is The Curse of the Black Pearl for others!

ćŸ·ćçœç· DĂ©huĂ bĂĄicĂ/dehua white porcelain
Dehua County, located in Quanzhou, Fujian, China, is renowned for its white porcelain.
Its kilns flourished during the Tang (618-907 CE) and Song dynasties(960â1279 CE), peaked in the Yuan and Ming periods, and remain famous today, particularly for their white porcelain. Fired at high temperatures, the unglazed porcelain exhibits a smooth, jade-like texture, appearing crystal-clear and pure white.
Dehua white porcelain is renowned for its "high-toughness thin-bodiedé«é§èèç·èĄŁ" technique, a breakthrough in ceramic craftsmanship that achieves exceptional strength in ultra-thin structures. This technology enables the creation of porcelain pieces with egg-shell thinness (0.2â0.5 mm) while maintaining remarkable durability, making it a hallmark of Dehua's artistry. However, not every piece of Dehua white porcelain employs this technique, as it involves significantly higher production costs.
PORCELAIN?!
so in the victoria & Albert museum's huge ceramics gallery which people never seem to know about, there was a temporary exhibition by a 4th generation porcelain worker from dehua & some of her work v which particularly took me out were these books - books which looked as if they had hand pressed paper pages with ragged edges, being tugged open and ruffled by the breeze. they looked like a film still. they looked light as air. there was a drapery of fine silk fluttering as well. ALL PORCELAIN.
oh, me? yeah, im a panel 1 girl. panel 2? instant loss? no, no, i dont believe in that stuff
the faint, muffled noises coming from the right that kind of sound like me moaning are probably just swamp gas or ball lighting
I felt inspired...

sorry, i mythologized your boyfriend. yeah i took him and a few other boyfriends and merged them together with local folklore and mystic elements into one legendary figure. he's going to be really hard to pin down historically. sorry about that. I can make you his consort in some stories if that helps.
Why do people want so badly to get into the games industry and keep returning to it with its reputation for abuse and layoffs? It seems self destructive, even by the "starving artist" bar.
The only reason people pay more attention to the game industry or entertainment industry layoffs than other industries is because thatâs where they get their âfunâ and they think that being part of that would make the job more âfunâ to do and less of a job.
The public school system has been hit by countless layoffs and teachers are losing their jobs on the regular because of them.
Meta, Verizon, Google, Amazon, Corus, K&L Gates Lawfirm, Coinbase, Starbucks. American Airlines, Walmart, Atlassian, Citi Bank, EBay, General Motors, Groupon, Kenvue (otc medical company), Nike, Papa Johnâs, Target, Wix, Workday, Pinterest⊠and countless more are doing layoffs just as often and just as heavy, people just donât ânotice as muchâ because they donât aspire to be part of them as heavily as they do âentertainment brand.â
Weâre in a place where these companies, these industries, and âthe people in chargeâ are making more money than ever but the average worker needs multiple jobs to be able to afford to be able to live.
Unemployment is high, pay rates for workers are low, inflation is out of control, media and news outlets are denying that weâre in a recession because âwell itâs not technicallyâ - meanwhile the average person is so stressed about âwill I be able to liveâ and worrying about if âtheyâre nextâ when it comes to their own safety, security, health, employment, etc.
The only reason anyone knows about the stuff specifically in games or animation or Hollywood or whatever is because the average person uses these forms of entertainment as an escape from their own reality so they expect the work to be as fulfilling and fun as the fantastic tales they spin. When in reality itâs an industry of work just like any other.
All industries of work are filled with worker abusive, have mass layoffs, and prey on the desperation of working class individuals just as much as games/entertainment⊠you just donât care as much about those other industries because you donât idolize them the way you do with the industry I primarily work in.
You think me and my colleagues who have been hit by layoff after layoff after layoff in games and animation donât look for work outside our own industries?
We do.
The job market is a joke everywhere.
Also, and this is going to make this post less popular than it already will be, but the idea of all people who pursue careers in any kind of artistic craft or industry being labeled someone who adheres to the ideology or methods of what people outside the industries consider âstarving artistâ mentality is, in all honesty, insidious.
Those who use their artistic crafts and abilities are seen as âoutliersâ but EVERYONE wants to do what they do.
Youâre a human being, your heart cries out to be heard and understood through whatever form âArtâ takes for you. Being able to create, make, build, and love alongside others who do the same is the dream for SO MANY PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET⊠and why?
Because it is seen as a joy to be able to do it.
But at the same time yâall go around throwing terms like âstarving artistâ around haphazardly because of two things:
1. A fear of failure in any capacity with whatever craft you desire to throw your heart into.
2. To downplay those who attempt to do it in spite of that fear of failure.
Most of the people who have historically or are currently actually chasing their dreams are doing so while also doing other work, looking for other work, and attempting to hold their lives together REGARDLESS of their dream chasing.
But none of the folks who deflect the truth of those efforts with terms like âstarving artistâ or phrases like âthat industry is abusiveâ truly understand that ITâS ALL LIKE THIS!
The idea of pretending youâre superior to someone âsillyâ enough to chase a dream, dedicate time to focus on their art form in any shape it takes, and talking down to them as if they do not LIVE IN IT EVERY DAY and UNDERSTAND IT BETTER THAN YOU CAN is beyond ridiculous.
You idolize and become parasocial towards those few that succeed while you laugh and criticize those who you deem âlesserâ or that you donât âunderstand.â
And why? Because you want to be the former and you fear you are the latter.
Art, true art, made by humans, lovingly shaped by brushes, pencils, the written word, real voices, hands, hearts, souls, etc IS SOMETHING YOU WILL CRAVE UNTIL YOU DIE.
Yet you make fun of those who understand that desire so carnally they prioritize their own humanity because you refuse to acknowledge that desire within your own heart.
Those who care will create with reckless abandon and with no reward because humanityâs existence is to live and love.
You know what is really self destructive? Denying your own right and drive to create and downplaying the efforts of those who dare to dream.
Collins is gone.
Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.
Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.
All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.
After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.
It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of yearsâfar longer than settlers have been in Canadaâand made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotÄn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.
And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racismâlike Kashechewanâbecause it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.
The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.
Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.
ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.
Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.
*Before sending money, verify that the appeal appears on an official First Nation, Tribal Council or registered charity channel.
If you can't offer financial support, please consider donating items of need. Moontime Connections is currently accepting drop-off donations. If you live in the Thunder Bay area, Namaygoosisagagun Health Office is also taking in donations! They can also bemailed to Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre at 555 West Arthur Street, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5P8.
items needed are: food, diapers, medical masks, menâs and womenâs joggers (all sizes), childrenâs clothing (newborn to size 14), childrenâs shoes, summer clothing, menâs clothing, toiletries (lotion, Vaseline, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc.), strollers, adult depends-all sizes, dog & cat food
