You are not fighting to save the Earth, you are fighting to save yourself and the only ecosystem that keeps you alive.
Forget sentimental pity for trees and polar bears if that doesn't work on you. When the biosphere collapses, you collapse with it. The Earth doesn't need saving, it will recover, regenerate, and move on from us.
sometimes it’s depressing to see how our planet is genuinely dying, we have 4 years left on the climate clock, ai is getting so much worse and impacting our planet in so many ways people are ignorant to, our animals are dying, tick population is going up due to global warming and is spreading alpha-gal more along with lyme disease, there’s much more war, suicide rates are going up, our planet is DYING and we are doing nothing about it, I can’t even remember the last time I saw an armadillo or a skunk in my area, certain trees can’t be planted anymore even though they used to grow here (like mango trees, lemon and lime trees)

I think it's insane that even in the most leftist and "progressive" spaces the idea of equating morality with looks is alive and present and no one fucking bats an eye at it. like racists and mysoginysts are always portrayed as fat and hairy and generally unkept, as a contrast to the morally good and attractive leftists of course; people will have no problem being genuinely fucking awful about someone's appearance if they're deemed to be a "bad person". and the worst part is you point all of this out and people act like you're reading too much into things like no dude you gotta start using your brain more
Ok here goes. This is gonna be a long one so hang in there! Wanted to wait until the end of this season to give my full thoughts (even though I already complained on here mid-season lol). Daredevil Born Again S2 is simply not on OG series' level but even if not compared to its predecessor I would say: cool concept, delivery? Meh.
This show led by Dario Scardapane unfortunately relies HEAVILY on hype moments/« aura » or simply wants its cake and eat it too. It just wants to bite more than it can chew unfortunately. So let’s start with the few overall complaints before I dive in into the details!
1) OG characters are a shell of themselves and don’t get enough of screen time (except for Fisk which I would say gets MORE than is necessary). The literal protagonist of the show is missing. We have no idea what he’s thinking. What he’s feeling. We had to wait until the literal FINALE of the season to get uninterrupted scenes with him. Consequently: his team (Karen predominantly and Angela, Kirsten, Jessica, Cherry etc) get crumbs of a storyline or none at all. Focusing heavily on the Fisk team (newbies/ Vanessa etc) was a waste of screen time because after an entire season my reaction to Daniel dying is still « aww that sucks ! Hope we can see more of Matt from now on » and wondering why the hell Buck is still alive. So was it worth it? I have no idea. I know the main critique of Born Again was that the side characters didn’t get to have their own storyline but my God not at the expense of the leads!!!!!
2) The pacing is horrendous. Scenes are SO short and when we start getting comfortable with one it shifts to another! Even the tension we’re supposed to feel sometimes (the stakes are supposed to be high... allegedly) doesn’t get the time to build before the scene is already over! Think : prison scene between Karen and Fisk in episode 7. What was even the purpose of it ? Dario seems to be a BIG fan of season 3 (I mean... how can you NOT?) and wants to reheat its nachos so to speak lol. Except the reason why S3 is *so* loved to begin with is that it’s a season focused on CHARACTER STUDY. Each character gets to have their own storyline that is linked to the main one. Big moments like the Karen/Fisk showdown in OG S3 is not there for « hype » only. It’s a scene that serves a bigger purpose!! It allows the audience to be at the edge of their seat watching Karen be reckless in the name of justice/love as well as finally seeing Fisk realise who was behind Wesley’s death all along!!! It was THREE seasons in the making !!! So yeah. Whatever that was in S2 is a joke compared to it.
3) This is a political storyline. They know it. We know it. Everybody knows it. They call it a French Resistance storyline but it certainly takes inspiration from our modern political climate. So yes. If the writers are not willing to go DEEP... it just falls flat. I understand this is the MCU. I understand that under Disney we are never gonna get an actual ACAB/violent resistance is justified AND protected under international law storyline. Like the writers themselves talk about the French Resistance (and don’t get me started on why this specific example was chosen). They think they were what ? Picking apples? The lack of depth regarding the difficult choices one has to make during times like that is just... disappointing. Like WHY am I not getting a scene of Matt and Karen grappling with the morality of letting Angela participate in the Resistance for example? A minor who shouldn’t be anywhere near combat if it weren’t for times of war. So yeah... by not going deep (or at least deeper) they are doing a disservice to their protagonist most especially because having him act like the thought of crossing the line/killing Fisk isn’t one he’s grappling with every single day of his life is simply ??????? I understand that on a storytelling level if Karen is the one losing all hope Matt HAS to be the optimist but not giving him ANY scene explaining his POV for more than just one line here and there is SUCH a disservice to him as well as his reasoning. It’s like Dario himself looks down on the merit of the protagonist’s stance (a stance that deserves to be elaborated whether we fully agree with it or not, and I say that as a non Catholic) and consequently the protagonist comes out as naive. But that’s why Daredevil is a superhero show at the end of the day. Hopecore is the ultimate goal BUT that still doesn’t mean that certain topics should be brushed aside when they become a bit difficult. (I won’t even talk about the Cole North redemption arc and the way this show has an even bigger problem with copaganda compared to its predecessor).
4) The cinematography, editing as well as directing. The lack of RIGOR (like @supwiththedevil said) is simply a problem considering the quality of the precedent show. It is simply NOT normal that I start enjoying how the show LOOKS like until the very end of the season : Iain B. MacDonald quite literally the only director whom I felt like knew how to shoot the quiet intimate scenes between characters (Matt and Karen moments naturally looked SO much better and seeing them be given the bare minimum in terms of cinematography felt like SUCH a relief after a whole season wondering why the hell this show was doing everything in its power to sabotage their leads...). I understand that some directors know how to shoot action scenes best. But Daredevil was never a show that relied on those scenes to look good. On the contrary. Big action scenes were sparse and that’s why when we got them we were more than thrilled. Having this show be bombarded with action scene after another every single episode simply dilutes their importance and their impact on the story.
5) Now let me go in deeper with the writing of certain characters one by one:
- Karen: BIG sigh. This show doesn’t know how to write women in the big 2026. It simply doesn’t. I personally feel like Dario barely gets her (but then how could he get her if he barely understands
the main character 😠). As I said before : the characters have become a shell of themselves. She has almost become a stereotype: strong independent badass woman who delivers punchlines here and
there. Very few interesting things happening with her this season even though THEORETICALLY she is a co-leader of an entire Resistance. They make her the one contacting Jessica yet not one single scene shared with one another. They make her the one who’s getting intel yet we barely get scenes of her doing just that. Sorry but one or two scenes of her meeting BB/Kirsten is simply not enough for us to get « attached » or to simply connect with that side of her. Where are the stakes of doing such a dangerous job ? Why am I not privy to her thoughts regarding living a life on the run? Her fear of losing Matt making her unhinged the longer they stay on the run is well acted yet the show treats it like an afterthought. Her grief over Foggy making her vengeful... where is the scene of her grappling with those dark thoughts ? Or are we meant to just accept one single scene at the beginning of the season of her and Matt talking about missing their NM&P days is enough ? After all that happened and how she came back after one long year of distance from Matt? Her previous stance being shaken? WHY oh WHY are we wasting Karen’s past being used in a cat fight between her and Heather (a fight I would have been more than welcome to witness if their parallel trauma was the source of tension) instead of not making it something she’s being grilled on on the stand in front of the world???? Like we are meant to believe Fisk wants to ruin her reputation as his form of vengeance... so why am I not seeing KAREN in the Karen Page trial??? Shout out to Deborah Ann Woll for being so excellent that her portrayal makes all the difference. (And don’t get me started on the whole credits situation because seeing not only one but TWO men get ahead of her in the order of credits when she was the co-lead in the previous show and always after Charlie is enraging. Yet another example of misogyny in the workplace and how far we have regressed since 2015).
- Already discussed previously but Matt is only used as an action hero until the very last episode and someone who mayyyyybe gets to nod while hearing another character speak. He also gets weirdly mischaracterised as the guy who is so anti killing as if he doesn’t think about crossing the line 24/7. As if he didn’t cross it himself in the very beginning of this entire show. Instead of explaining his stance or delving into the guilt he felt after crossing the line, we’re left with vague words of wisdom such as « vengeance isn’t justice ». And I don’t know. I would think after a decade of Matt and Karen knowing each other intimately the dialogue can do a bit better than « this isn’t you » 🙄 . He sacrifices everything for love in the end (after Karen herself questions his devotion in a moment of despair) which I think makes the whole season feel somewhat worth it but it’s still disappointing that not more was done to showcase his POV all throughout. Oh and btw : why the HELL did we have to wait until the finale to get bratty!Matt back ??? Joking about just getting shot in the leg, roasting Heather, calling Fisk old man... WHERE WAS MY SON ALL SEASON DARIO ???????? Truly feel sorry for Charlie in the end because he had just the finale to showcase his range as an actor. And it’s just unacceptable for the lead of a show.
-  Matt and Karen as a couple: Dario when I catch you........ cinematographer/editors you’re next dw. Such GREAT concepts this season for these two characters but 1) writers clearly don’t want to dive deep into it. How is it that we start the season with them established (not a problem imo) with NO line at all referring to their separation in BA season 1?? Why are we not acknowledging the fact that this is them trying again most likely for the 3rd time (we started this show with Karen propositioning Matt so I’m gonna need the confirmation that they were somewhat together during the Missing Years @ Dario. Give me the freaking flashbacks!!) 2) Dario has a very weird concept about how these two are supposed to act around each other. He said in an interview once that their love is « pure ». I don’t necessarily disagree with the concept but my GOD stop sanitising them!!! Showing us one make-out scene in the beginning of the season is simply not enough to establish (again might I add because this isn’t a new concept) the sensuality between these two. Physical touch is their love language!!! Where is it?!!!!! And stop making Karen the only one allowed to be mad/frustrated ??? They’re BOTH brats with big hearts!!! Dario seems to get that they’re mirrors yet is not willing to have it be displayed more « equally ». Their fight scene in ep6 could have been AMAZING but the serious lack of repartee from Matt ruined it. There’s deep love between these characters. So let them actually fight. They can survive it ffs. 3) Fire these directors immediately. They clearly only know how to direct action scenes and nothing else. (Except maybe Angela Barnes and obviously Iain B. MacDonald you legend <33 You both can stay.)
-  Anyway. I focused on Matt and Karen because they’re the ones I love the most and the OG leads but I can make a whole thread about how Dex is being written as well (what felt like a multidimensional character in s3 is a cliche of an anti hero/villain (wink wink we’re telling the audience there’s no redemption arc but we still want to sell this character as cutie patootie who’s just unhinged hehe). It seems like he was hired by the CIA in the finale so I guess he’ll be a paid assassin ? If they’re going that route I think a scene with Elektra next season is mandatory.
-  Fisk losing Vanessa is whatever. Like ok sad but could have been shortened to one episode instead of 3. It just feels like an insult to Foggy who didn’t get any funeral or an episode dedicated to just Matt and Karen grappling with their grief over him. Anyway. I just miss when Fisk was just in a few episodes but still had so much depth. I feel like the more we see of him the less scared we are of him in the end (although I will say him killing those civilians in the finale was oooof.). I think having him end the season in a beach is clever because he said he hates sand on his feet and in the flashback we got of him and Vanessa it seems like it was the only reason he could tolerate it at all. I don’t personally think he got a happier ending compared to Matt I think he is probably on the run after he took the deal and left the country before the police came after him like they did with Matt (Matt had a whole day of peace before it was shattered so I guess Fisk probably left the morning after I don’t know). Sooo yeah. No Vanessa. No NYC. The city he loves so much keeps rejecting him. I think this show needs to get serious though because we can’t keep having the same storylines over and over. I can only see death as the final solution for him.
-  Newbies: instead of GRADUALLY making us care they hit us with them to the point that come Daniel’s death I was literally relieved that there would be one less character taking up screen time in the future 🙃 (and I actually did like him!!). Heather as Lady Muse could be interesting I guess but when I’m already frustrated about my favorite characters not getting their due focus I end up not caring for anything else #sorry. British Wesley is a pretty face and has as much personality as Matt did this season I guess.
-  Jessica as guest star: love her and I am interested in seeing a project focused on her in the future but I don’t like how promo focused SO much on her return when she was there for like 3 episodes (to the point that she had more promo than Karen even!!! @ D*sney your place is in h***). After the 3rd reference of her being a mother I’m sorry but I started rolling my eyes. Thanks Dario. I think we got it the first time. Like WHY are all her lines somewhat a reference to her being a mother now...?? See what I mean when I say this show doesn’t know how to write women ?
-  Kirsten : I feel sorry about how she’s under-utilised in the story.
- Â Angela : I wanted more of her and we need more scenes with her honorary parents (aka Matt and Karen).
-  BB : I hope she thrives as her uncle’s successor but I wonder now that there’s no Daniel if she can have more scenes with Karen instead. Who knows.
-  Foggy : I have NO idea if they’re going for the witness protection storyline in the comics but if they are the reveal is not happening until the very end of Season 3 at this pace. I just find it all bewildering how they kept teasing it in the promo but there’s no sign of it happening (yet) in the show. If Foggy truly is dead then the way he’s been treated is truly so disrespectful... I understand the post overhaul team had little time to fix that mess of first season but. No episode dedicated to his death is CRAZY for a character so dear to not one but TWO of the current leads of this show.
Sooooo yeah. That’s about it. If you’re still here thanks for reading. In conclusion : this season was good but unfortunately tries to do TOO much with the few episodes it has as its disposal. There are wayyyyy too many characters and I’m afraid this is gonna get even more tricky next season with the return of the Defenders. I don’t really have hope of it becoming better than this (I think Dario is simply not the right guy for the job sorry. Like thanks for bringing back our fav characters and all but I’m gonna need someone else to try and tell a slower paced DD story focused on character study rather than going from one plot to another. If this show gets renewed for a 4th season they need to call Steven DeKnight and Erik Oleson back and MAYBE then we can have our real show back.
"Karen Page doesn't need to be in Born Again" is a take that belongs in a museum of bad decisions. Watching Deborah Ann Woll go absolutely feral in the latest episode and just to realize some executive thought she was 'optional'… I hope the pre overhaul creative direction is enjoying its stay in the deepest pits of hell.

Firstly what I liked. Matt revealing his identity, and that whole court room drama. Not as well done as it could've been but still. I really liked that Matt ended up revealing his identity for Karen. Like that's such a good decision on the writing team. And Matt ending in prison as well. I don't know where they'll take this story from here but it's interesting and I liked it.
Now onto the bad.
What the fuck? This ending confrontation between Matt and Fisk was so poorly done. I know Matt is desperate to put an end to the cycle but you don't let him off to god knows where??? Is Matt being fucking serious right now? Matt believes in Grace and Redemption but Fisk did nothing to earn it. Fisk had the blood of civilians on his fucking hands. I am so fucking lost. Matt has no chill beating up all the fucking ICE agents but no, not Fisk. Not a hair on his favorite little villain's head (pun intended)
I saw someone else's post and they were saying that they were trying to redo the S3 finale but doing it extremely poorly and I so vehemently agree. The finale made sense. It was a stalemate. Matt beat Fisk up to an inch of his life and then didn't plead with him, screamed in his face. And told him that Fisk will now do what Matt tells him to do.
Here, Matt is telling them not to punch and kick Fisk???? Maybe that's because he's afraid they'll kill him, fine. But then he pleads with him???? With a fucking monster, which Fisk so very much is. He has blood on his hands. Like 20 people's. And then Matt is pleading with him to get out of New York? Jesus fucking Christ.
And then Cole North. The worst fuckass character arc ever put to the silver screen. No fucking development. Nothing at all. They just remembered that oh, he's a good guy in the comics so we'll shove a redemption arc for him yeah that works (i know it isn't totally redemption but you know what i mean, he started on the path).
Again, with Bullseye. Why the fuck are you doing this to my boy???? Why is he on a plane with Mr. Charles what... I hate how they are trying to make him into a anti-villain this season and also that the fuckass arc isn't even developed well. He just be doing shit istg.
And also, where the fuck is spider-man during all of this.... This is New York... Like.... Hello?
I liked the first half of the episode but that ending confrontation, holy fucking shit. The writing team feels like it's trying to pander to the audience so much, that they've even forgotten that they are creating a television series. It's actually insane.
Overall, I did not love this season. It had highs. It actually did a lot for my perception of Karen and Matt tbh. I like their dynamic this season more than I ever have in the past (romantically). And Karen getting angry last episode or the one before that idr was beautiful. The anger at Matt. It was the high of the season. Because Matt was being a little bitch. And now at the end, we see why Karen was screaming at Matt. Look at what he fucking did. Not my Matt Murdock man fuck i have character assassination because this legitimately is what it feels like. Maybe I'm riled up right now and will feel differently in the future but who bloody knows.
Alright. The season 2 finale. I have quite a few thoughts!
So, Bullseye is the guy that doesn't miss. That's his thing. Even when it looks like he misses when he tries to kill Vanessa, there's a shard of glass that hits her in the head, and she dies. So, he didn't miss! But, he kills that guy that's pretending to be him, and goes to shoot Fisk, but shoots Buck instead, and... leaves??
Matt reveals his identity, and he does a trick with his cane, and everyone believes him? Easy as that? There's no question about if he's really blind? Not a single one about if he has superpowers? Not about his legitimacy as a lawyer, now that it's known that he's Daredevil?
Fisk's deal is still on, after he killed all those people? It had to have been at least 20 people that he brutally murdered. But I guess that doesn't matter? Also, does anyone else feel like Matt wasn't doing enough? Like, he could hear what Fisk was doing. But then he and the group get up to the stairwell, and they just... wait for Fisk to be done plowing through a few more people.
Then I guess they're trying to redo the hype of the third season with that scene between Matt and Fisk, Matt trying to convince Fisk to take the deal, but the scene doesn't work, because, well, Fisk just murdered at least 20 people. Brutally. And we've already had a scene like this, and a scene where he "finally gets brought to justice", but... it doesn't work... because he finds a loophole... and just gets back to being The Kingpin again... what the hell makes Matt think it's going to change?
Why is Karen okay with this, when a big thing about her in this season was her moving over to reflecting more of Frank's ideals, by being so frustrated that these people are never truly stopped? When she was so close to shooting Bullseye? When she yelled at Matt for being so stupid? (By the way, I still whole-heartedly believe she shouldn't have apologized for that. Did Matt even apologize for hitting her with the billy club?)
And what is Bullseye doing? Is he suddenly just fine with Fisk being alive? And if Fisk could get a deal like he did then why couldn't Matt get one too? Why the fuck did Matt smile while he was in prison? What does he have to smile about? Why are they pretending as if everything's completely peachy now that Fisk is "gone"? Why are they assuming that he'll actually stay away? What the fuck? What the fuck? What?
Fisk got away with everything for the second times and is now on a beautiful island somewhere. Mind you he was soaked with the blood of the civils he just killed with his barre hands when Matt offered him grace. Yeah ok... why not, uh? Why the fuck not. Would Matt do the same if Fisk was a rapist or paedophile? Did this show really want to portrait christianisme as the most tone-deaf religion ever? Does Matt think he's the God he worship to forget and forgive a criminal like that? Where is the justice? Where is the justice in this fucking universe?? I thought we were watching a superhero show where the bad guy are being deal with.
Matt is in prison and is being punished for being the bad guy of the story. I see... what the hell not too. At least he's in the place he wished to be from the start because he hates himself and thinks he's the worst human being to ever walk on Earth and deserves to burn in hell.
Heather... couldn't care less about her. Got away with everything too. She's going to be sad, crazy and evil. Done and done a hundred time already. Bored already.
Dex?? Talk 1 word and then sat next to the guy with the guns. Is going to hunt Fisk??? Don't care anymore at this point.
Karen... I don't care too now. She's free and...?? She is going to fight for Matt again and blablablabla.
And now everyone knows Matt is Daredevil. No more funny or stressfull situation where he must hide his identity. Our superhero is like everyone else ladies and gentlemen ! No more magic just a boring regular guy who is now in a regular boring prison just like everyone else.
