Shout out to June for being both Pride month and the month of the most Sacred Heart of Jesus, got to be the best month pairing out there.
Name me a more iconic duo than Jesus’ flaming Heart and us flaming queers. You can’t. There is none.

Every day is Nakba Day
palestinian liberation theology yes ! are there any you would recommend? i have a decent list of books already but i wanted to see if u had any insight first !
here's some of the books i've read and enjoyed on palestinian liberation theology- i will caveat this by saying i'm not as familiar with islamic liberation theology because im not a muslim theologian, so there are a couple of general islamic liberation theology books on this list that are not specific to palestine. all of these are available on zlib or annasarchive if you don't have access to them through a library.
islamic liberation theology by hamid dabashi
the qur'ran of the oppressed: liberation theology and gender justice in islam by shadaab rahemtulla
a palestinian christian cry for reconciliation by naim ateek
justice and only justice: a palestinian theology of liberation by naim ateek
a palestinian theology of liberation: the bible, justice, and the palestine-israel conflict by naim ateek (in general i would read anything by ateek you can get your hands on- to me, and in general, he is the preeminent voice of christian palestinian liberation theology, and as a living survivor of the nakba his work is so important and valuable)
the wrath of jonah: the crisis of religious nationalism in the israeli-palestinian conflict by rosemary radford and herman j. ruether
indigenous minority rights, citizenship, and the new erusalem: a reflection on the future of palestinians and jews in the expanded state of israel by marc ellis (this book is from 2000 and now outdated, but i think it's still a decent read)
theologies of liberation in palestine-israel: indigenous, contextual, and postcolonial perspectives edited by nur-eldeen masalha and lisa isherwood
until the rain: conversations with christian palestinian women by anne sörman
justice on the cross: palestinian liberation theology, the struggle against israeli oppression, and the church by kathleen christison (this came out in 2023 and i haven't read it completely yet, but i like what i've seen so far)
shalom/salaam/peace: a liberation theology of hope by constance a. hammond
occupied with nonviolence: a palestinian woman speaks by jean zaru
towards a new liberation theology: reflections on palestine edited by arzu merali and javad sharbaf
decolonising palestinian liberation theology: new methods, sources and voices by john s. munayer and samuel s. munayer
apartheid in the holy land by desmond tutu
faith and the intifada: palestinian christian voices edited by marc h. ellis, naim ateek, and rosemary radford ruether
these are not strictly palestinian theology, or even theology, but i have found them remarkably pertinent on this topic
torture and the eucharist: theology, politics, and the body of christ by william t. cavanaugh
the origins of totalitarianism by hannah arendt
negative dialectics by theodor adorno
eros and enlightenment by herbert marcuse
the work of johann baptiste metz
going to encourage people to reblog or comment with their own reading (even if it isn't theology-related), especially if anyone has recommendations for work on islamic liberation theology on the topic.
I second a lot of these! I also recommend Decolonizing Palestine: The Land, The People, the Bible (2023) by Christian Palestinian theologian Mitri Raheb. Anyone interested but not sure whether they want to read the whole book might like the summary I wrote of it.

If I learned anything working in dementia/senior care it’s that you really should be sacrificing for your friends and prioritizing companionship over convenience. No matter what, you will die anyway, and someday that may be the only part you remember.
Wild Flowers: Women of South Lebanon, (1987, documentary, 71min; still), Written and Directed by Mai Masri and Jean Khalil Chamoun [Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema and Sound (RITCS), Bruxelles-Brussel]
medieval heart-shaped prayer book in a medieval painting and in real life

THE CANAAN MASTERDOC/POST IS HERE!
Welcome one and all, and thank you for your patience and feedback! 17 sources and counting, mostly articles but some books -- I've also tried my best to find open access materials but inevitably some things will be restricted, unfortunately. This is formatted more like a bibliography (organized by subject) or directory to orient people towards Canaan and adjacent resources. This is my special interest and it's my greatest joy to share this with people! Please let me know any feedback you have! Anyone with the LINK should be able to access it.
UPDATED AS OF 4/22/2026
NOTES: Added a Language section aimed at making Ugaritic language and cuneiform more accessible and understandable, as well as making the connections between all ancient and modern semitic languages clearer (I have gained a lot of understanding of texts by consulting Arabic speakers and I think the etymology of semitic words cannot be understated in this context. I also personally feel that this adds credence to Arabic being a West/Northern semitic product that did not originate so far south as usually attributed, but this is an aside). Will be updating over time.
Unofficial note: Fuck Brill, fuck all publishing houses, they are all demonspawn of the capitalist-academic class trying to suck every last red cent out of us by holding knowledge hostage.
Telling children they will go to hell for not joining religious activities will be regarded as abuse. Read more at straitstimes.com. Read mo

while the article was last updated on Nov 25, 2024 and so very likely is some degree of out of date, reading it was like a breath of fresh air. Some breakdowns of the new classification criteria:
Something that I also am extremely glad the proceedings surrounding the classifications take time to address is:
Hopefully, this classification and the upholding of these guidelines has continued on since then!!
