WRONG.
It's the root of self-respect.
Without desiring things, you'll never accomplish anything. You need to let yourself desire things. And you need to let yourself pursue the things you desire. That's the only way you stop living for others, and start living for yourself. You need to look at your life, and ask yourself what you want out of it. And then you need to pursue that.
If I hadn't developed this greed I would still be a man. I would still be plugging away at a job that I hate, as a gender I hate, in a life that I hate, never daring to desire anything. The only reason I'm still here is because of my greed. My desire to have the things I want. My willingness to put my own happiness first.
It's not noble not to desire things. It doesn't make you a good person. It just means you live life never standing up for yourself. It means you never pursue the things YOU want. I wanted to be a woman. I wanted to pursue a career entertaining others. I wanted a life I can be proud of living. I got the things I wanted! And I still want more!! WHAT DO YOU WANT?
