so the most amazing thing happened to me recently.
a bit of context - the xy flashfire set is no longer available in stores nation wide, and the booster packs go for like 8 or 9 bucks online each.
m charizard ex, is one of, if not the most, sought after card in the set. not only that, there’s two versions, with very slight differences, number 69/106, and number 108/106, the secret rare.
the secret rare is my own personal holy grail, a card that seemed so far beyond my reach that i laughed at the idea of ever owning it. you see, this card goes for about 74 dollars online average

and people have opened 50 booster packs and have yet to see this card.
since the flashfire booster packs weren't in stores anymore, the odds of me ever coming across this in the field were astronomically low.
and then it happened.
i’m at toys r us, shopping for board games with my girlfriend, a little bummed out because i forgot my scale that i was gonna weigh packs with, but whatever.
and then were looking at booster packs anyway cus that's what i do
and then my wonderful girlfriend notices some triple packs, and i see them - wild flashfire packs. there was only two, and each one was in their own triple pack so i had to buy both.. i also bought another triple pack cus it had a cool umbreon card.
my heart is racing, i know there's no way i’m actually gonna pull this card. that would be too good.
first flashfire pack - a stupid qwilfish, not even holo.
second pack. i pull it up slowly, i see blue flames.
no way.
pull it up a little higher, i see the move wild blaze.
and there it was folks. i was speechless. i normally hype scream when i see an ex or full art or anything, but i didn't say anything.
and then none of the other 8 packs had anything good lol but whatever, charizard alone paid more than enough for this entire purchase.
